3721  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Blocks are full. Are pool owners sleeping ? on: March 29, 2016, 06:23:02 PM
Chinese and some other miners mining empty blocks is a bigger problem IMO.
3722  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S7 is available at bitmaintech.com with 4.86TH/s, 0.25J/GH on: March 29, 2016, 03:57:15 PM
I still have 3pcs now 2pcs -100USD Antminer S7 batch 15 coupons to give away for free.

edit: no I have no coupons
3723  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [POOL CHOICE] o3o on: March 29, 2016, 12:57:41 PM
So, i can't have a regular mining with my asics, it's right ?

I'll read more about solomining, it can be more interesting than pool mining.
I come back when i know more about this, if you have more solutions, i'm open for it.

Thanks you a lot Smiley
Well you can of course, but it is not wise due to the very very low profits.

That's why I would go with lottery and point it to solo mining.
3724  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: AntMiner S1 help on: March 28, 2016, 10:19:19 PM
How much btc could you mine a day with an antminer s1?
And how much cost these things nowadays, I am possibly interested in starting an mining operation Smiley

Short answer.
Don't get a S1 if you don't have "free electricity".
I can get free electricity if I want Tongue
But how much do antminers cost/earn a day?
So I am able to calculate my ROI.

There is several calculators which may help you to estimate your profit, but it isn't exactly easy because the difficulty keeps rising.
And block reward halving is coming.
http://tradebtc.net/bitcalc.php
http://www.coinwarz.com/calculators/bitcoin-mining-calculator

If you want a cheap, used and quite silent Antminer, I would go with Antminer S3 rather than with S1.
If you want a cheap used Antminer and you don't care about noise, I would go with Antminer S5.
If you want a cost-effective, power efficient and new Antminer, and you don't care about NOISE, I would go with Antminer S7.
If you want a cost-effective, power efficient and new miner and you want a reasonable amount of noise, I would go with Avalon 6 (though it isn't as cheap as S7).

See Ebay and Amazon for old Antminer and Avalon -miners.

Antminer S7 - https://www.bitmaintech.com/productDetail.htm?pid=00020160325135953898HkhGgHy206C2
Avalon 6 - link 1: https://ehash.com/product/avalon6-v6-0/

               link 3 (used, EU): http://asicminer-shop.de/Avalon-6-33-TH/s-used-unit

Remember that you need a proper PSU as well so notice it in your ROI calculations.
3725  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Am I allowed to put AntMiner S7's frequency on 1000 at good temepture ? on: March 28, 2016, 10:06:29 PM
okay  here is what you do.

run ac right into the intake

make sure the fan that blows the air outward is not restricted. So make sure the exhaust is vented out of the room.

Step one

set freq to 700 fan to 70% make sure the psu has 12.5 volts not 12.0 volts

Step 2 fire it up
run it for an hour
check temps  should be 50c or less
check fan speed  should be 4200 to 4600
check errors       should be 0.0025 or less

step 3 jump freq to 725   fan to 70% make sure psu has 12.5 volts not 12.0 volts

step 4
run it for an hour
check temps should be 55c or less
check fan speed should 4200 to 4600
check errors should be 0.0030 or less

keep that pattern of increase.

when temps reach 62c stop
if temps stay under 62 c  and errors get to  0.200 stop

a fan setting of 100% is not necessary   top rpms are about  4200 to 4600
you will get them at 70 to 75% fan setting

I have never seen an s-7 get past freq 800   so good luck at doing better then that

this over clocking voids warranty

Thanks man , How can i check the voltage?
Start by learning some basic electronics. It is dangerous if you don't exactly know what you are doing.

Maybe more like 2013 model.. There was no Antminer S1 back in 2008  Roll Eyes
And bitcoin was released in 3 January 2009.

1. Overclock it to 393.75Mhz. This gives you about ~195GH/s.
Works great for me.
Make sure that your PSU can handle it ( I recommend min. 500W PSU)

I'm only holding on to my S1, because I can possibly use it when community miner boards are available.
Good DIY skills are needed for this.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1368507.0

S1 is not very profitable any more, unless you have "free electricity".

2. Kano CKPool https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=789369.0

Clusters burn at that speed without extra cooling. I have plans to build new mining power.
Well I'm looking at my temps right now and they are reasonable.
57 C and 55 C.
So nope.
3728  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Memory on: March 28, 2016, 04:22:00 PM
You mean this?

Don't worry, you won't run out of memory..
It doesn't work in the way that I guess you are thinking it works.
3729  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Review] Avalon 6 Miner - Winter Mining - Notlist3d - Also FAQ and Help on: March 28, 2016, 02:01:07 PM
Yes looks like both sockets have been overheating due to poor contact of the pins. This will have been made worse by the Daily plugging and unplugging. I would look for a way to have the Miner plus permanently connected and an additional plug / socket arrangement for the swapping.

One thing that is strange is that the problem has only occurred on the 3 Gnd connections and not the 12V. This may indicate that the PSU Gnd wires have been made up with a different batch of socket crimps that the 12V ones?

Rich

Yeah think of the unplugging and re plugging as fucking.

Thus the name for the plug and jack.  As male or female.

With repeated fucking most female sockets get loose.

The male pins do not suffer as much from repetious fucking just like real life.

Crude analogy but easy to remember.

Cheesy This is the best explanation in technical stuff that I've ever heard
3730  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: S7 antminer(4.7 ths) vs genesis mining(5ths) on: March 28, 2016, 12:09:06 PM
See this before thinking about cloud mining:

Cloudmining 101
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=878387

And as talks_cheep's message indicates, there is a huge possibility not to make ROI, as payouts suddenly start to drop.
3731  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Beginners Guide on: March 28, 2016, 12:04:46 PM
Hi All,

My first post, so i will introduce myself... I'm Sara... Hi!

There is a lot of information around, I guess the hardest part is knowing where to start without jumping around and picking up bits of info, rather than something more structured!

I have bought an ant miner s3 used off eBay to get started with

Are there any getting started guides around you guys would recommend?

Thanks Smiley

Quick instructions.

-Get a receiving address from your wallet
-Join a mining pool.
-Create a worker on the pool
-Find your S3 on the network (factory default is 192.168.1.99) and use your web browser to connect to it
-Go to network tab and setup the info.  I recommend setting the miner to another address in case you ad a second.  Reconnect to the new IP.
-Go to system tab and administration.  put in a password.
-Go to status tab and miner configuration.
-Put in your pools stratum address, worker username and worker password.  If the pool does not use worker passwords just put an x.
-Save everything.
-Go to miner status and you should see the pool showing alive and the miner hashing.  If not reboot the miner and check again.

That's it for an S3.

By the way, what is a mining pool and what is S3?
1. Pooled mining:

Yeah, it sometimes maybe gets a little too off-topic but I love the way fellow Kano CKPool miners support here each other in various things, hardware things included. It keeps the mining and pool hash rate at sustainable level or at least has a positive effect on it Cool

I still have 3pcs 100USD discount coupons for Antminer S7 batch 15 for those who need it. For free.
edit: I have now no coupons

Another nob question.

I have 3 miners atm.
Obviously I can put all miners under 1 worker, or I can put 3 miners under 3 different workers.
Which method give me a higher chance of finding a block?
or it works the same either way?

Doesn't matter. Works the same either way.
3735  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [POOL CHOICE] o3o on: March 26, 2016, 11:20:25 PM
You do realise that those old USB ASICs won't give you a much of a profit in a regular pool?

I'd go with a lottery tactic and point them at a solo pool, like solo.ckpool.org https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=763510.0
3736  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: What to do with old miners? on: March 26, 2016, 11:07:08 PM
You could use the frame etc. with these, when they become available: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1368507.300
If you have DIY skills.

I'm giving away my Antminer S7 coupons to any fellow Kano CKPool miner who is planning to buy Antminer S7 batch 15.
I have 4 coupons in total.
edit: Still have 3 coupons.

PM me.

I'll update this when I'm out of coupons.

edit2: I have now no coupons
