They already are in contact.
And you know this how?
Last posts from kilo and sidehack are about waiting the sample chips from Bitfury.
They haven't posted info about being in contact with Canaan Creative.
3702  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Community Miner Design Discussion on: April 28, 2016, 08:44:10 PM
Would contacting Canaan Creative and ask them about the upcoming 16nm Avalon chips be any good idea?

If by "hub" you do mean switch, then yes, you can have a switch behind another switch.
Yes, you are correct, it is a switch.  Ok, good to know, I'll go pick up another one, thanks.

I use a plugwize system to monitor power usage Smiley

I neglected to clarify that I could not find an affordable meter for 240volt US plug style that is cheap, I did find a few (like you linked) for Euro-style plugs.

They mass product the us kill-a-watt.
You bolded the wrong part of my quote, it's the 240 volt that's the kicker.  KAW is only 120v, and I have 2 of them also.  Cool

For example, I found this 240v one which I could use, but it's $90 and I'd have to split open my nice an tidy 10ga cable and mount the meter to the wall, not sure it's worth all that.
...

Maybe use the Euro-plug one if cheap travel adapter is available?
DX.com for example has cheap travel adapters. I ordered one from there as I needed a US->Euro adapter for RaspPi's psu.

3706  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Community Miner Design Discussion on: April 23, 2016, 07:04:18 PM
I made just for fun, a 3D model copy of the S1's frame plates using AutoCAD software provided by my university of applied sciences.
I thought to share the result here if someone else has use for it too.
I got these frame plates, heatsinks, screws and Delta 120mm fan.
Plus this good old S1, so it makes two possible community board miners.
Only thing left is community miner boards +controller like raspberry pi maybe(?).  Wink

The ones that I got printed had a little fault, they didn't come with even thicknesses (sides, bottom).
The material used here is PLA.
Design should be good for air flow. I actually got little lower temps now with S1  Cheesy

3707  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Inexpensive 1400W Power supply on: April 18, 2016, 10:45:53 PM
This would be great news only if someone would've made or would make a breakout board for it.
3708  Other / Archival / Re: Pictures of your mining rigs! on: April 17, 2016, 03:18:42 PM
Let's continue with BTC stuff, here is mine: ...
Looks great! What's the temperature inside the cabinet?
The highest temperature they have got is around 65 deg Celsius.
Summer is coming, let's see that what is the situation then.

edit:  Here is the stats few minutes ago:
3709  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S7 is available at bitmaintech.com with 4.86TH/s, 0.25J/GH on: April 17, 2016, 11:10:30 AM
Has anyone purchased and received the new ANTMINER S7 BATCH 16 with One Fan?  If so, let us know the stats on this machine, especially temps.

I have found that the batch 12 run about 10 degrees calculus hotter than previous models.  Does anyone else see this same condition?

Yesterday i purchased a Batch16 S7 with a second FAN thanks to your coupon  Grin
As sson as i get it, i'll post the performance with SINGLEFAN usage and DUALFAN usage

Arrived, unpacked, configured, runnning.
Without modification, you can not adapt a second fan. My S7 B16 is new, without dust, smells new and tastes new. Running like a charm after almost three hours in ambient temperature in my room at 65°C  Grin
See the pictures for yourself  Cool
PICS

sweet

It does look nice if it works good with one fan could have been a smart move.  One thing I wondered was how easy is it to look to see if any heatsinks have fallen in shipment?  It appears from picture it might be hard and there is a warranty sticker so can't unscrew.

And I could be all wrong. But just looked hard to see back heatsinks that should be checked before hooking up.

Yeah, but careful shaking should reveal if some of the heatsinks have fallen. Unless they have forgotten a heatsink or two in first place, that's a different story then.

Let's continue with BTC stuff, here is mine:
  • Antminer S2, updated with Kano's firmware and cgminer
  • Antminer S1, overclocked, 195GH/s, cgminer updated. Waiting for the community miner project (sidehack)
  • 2x Antminer S7, batch 9 in the cabinet
  • Avalon 6 with RPi kit by BlockC
3711  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: New one fan S7 on: April 02, 2016, 09:42:20 AM
Yeah, like they tested S7 heatsink design in S5+
3712  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: APW3-12-1600 (S7 PSU) -- mining rig on: April 01, 2016, 08:54:45 PM
Couldn't he use that Bitmain PSU with a 12VDC PC power supply made for car use?
It would provide power for motherboard etc. and Bitmain PSU for GPUs.

So I mean that the 12VDC PC power supply would be connected to Bitmain PSU's 12VDC
3713  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: New one fan S7 on: April 01, 2016, 09:14:58 AM
If they are using good thermal adhesive and a good fan, it ain't impossible after all.
Avalon 6 comes with a one fan and at least my temps are at reasonable level.
3714  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S7 is available at bitmaintech.com with 4.86TH/s, 0.25J/GH on: April 01, 2016, 08:39:29 AM
Anyone got a free 1 x $100 coupon to donate to me?
I got one for you. PM me your bitmaintech.com user id.
edit: now I have no coupons.

I'm hoping that the one fan version of Antminer S7 is April fools only.

Wow what an overnight.  Love it.

yeah and I hit on my other pool  which means about 5 coins for me

What pool?
He hit the block with mmpool.
It's a pool with pretty low total hash rate so I guess that is why Phil got a nice piece of that block reward
3716  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: PSU for Antminer S3 on: March 31, 2016, 12:33:09 PM
I guess most of you have upgraded to S5 or S7, but this is my experience with the psu units for S3 i had bought. I got it 4 S3's from a ebay. Since i was a complete noobe to this I got got the recommended psu by the seller which was cooler master thunder 450. It was a 450 watts smps. S3 consumes about 380 watts for both its walls. but the point here is the smps has only 80% efficiency. May be i get only 360 watts out from the smps. Also the wires were to be modified. There was is only one 6 pin Pci-e. the other one was customized.

After running the units for 4 days (with one hour break), I found most of the wires burnt out.

I bought wires and pins and learnt to crimp from the net. I made my cables but it wouldn't last more than a couple of days.
I realized the issue was not in the cables but in the Smps which was not able to take the load.

I did a bit of search and found that Antec VP650PM has two 6 pin Pcie outs.( Its VP650PM and not VP650P). I bought this unit. but to my dismay the connections on this 6 pin PCI-e where different. Therefore regular modular cable which i had wound not work.
Only the cable supplied with unit worked. Since i had bought two units I used the cable from the other unit to power up a single S3.
VOila!!! no heating issues. The cable are rock solid.(touchwood!)

Then i used two leftover 450 watts smps, just connected the 6 pin pci( leaving out the modded cable) and powered one more S3.
This worked too. Cable are warm but not hot enough to burn.

I need to order for antec VP650pm cables which are available with moddiy.com
Before that, if anyone has spare cable let me know. Any better solution let me know

I am not a professional so I do not know much about this stuff. I do my research on the net and learn from the forums. This i what i learnt and wanted to share.

all garbage psu's  you are wasting time and money by cheap psu mining.

do your self a favor and get some good ones

this runs 3 s-3's

http://www.amazon.com/EVGA-SuperNOVA-Crossfire-Warranty-120-G2-1300-XR/dp/B00COIZTZM/ref=sr_1_1?

here is quick advice warm cables  can do this  and you had 1 meltdown already

But isn't it recommended to buy APW3-12-1600-B2 for antminer products?
They do recommend that PSU for one Antminer S7.
But after all it doesn't matter what PSU you use as long as it is reliable and has appropriate specifications for powering your miner.

But what can we say really. Has anyone actually tested a batch 8-16 Antminer S7 with a one fan?

I agree though that I wouldn't run mine with just one fan either.
3718  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: ANTMINER S7 is available at bitmaintech.com with 4.86TH/s, 0.25J/GH on: March 31, 2016, 11:36:19 AM
Batch 16 S7 only comes with 1 fan... really? lol

Wow thought you must be joking.... Very late in the Day to be making this sort of change. Wonder what they are up to, or perhaps they are just running low on fans?  Smiley

Rich

Well Bitmain is still selling the fans separate so that cant be it. https://www.bitmaintech.com/productDetail.htm?pid=00020160105104607947aoAkWsJK06D0

lol They reduced the price of the S7 by less than the cost of the fan...but took the fan off.
Profit Ftw!!1!
I hope that this is only their way to April fool us  Tongue

If it is serious, could be though that they made sure that the second fan was not needed.
Hopefully so, if it is not April fools.

Can this product ship to Finland?
Kyllä, joudut vaan hoitamaan tilauksen tullauksen ja maksamaan arvonlisäverot koko summasta (tuotteet+postikulut).
Ei tullimaksua, mutta arvonlisävero 24%

-----
Yes, you just need to deal with the customs clearance and pay VAT for the total sum (products+shipping).
No customs duty, but a 24% VAT.

Ootkos varma että ei tule tullimaksua :/ ?

Olen varma. Olen tilannut 1kpl S2 ja 2kpl S7 Bitmainilta ja hoitanut tulliselvitykset.
---
translation:
Are you sure that there is no customs duty :/ ?

Yes. I've ordered 1pc S2 and 2pcs S7 from Bitmain and done the customs clearances.

Yep. There is no custom duty for bitmainers in EU area. But you need to pay VAT, which is different in different EU members. In Finland VAT is 24% and you pay it for mainer AND shippment.

If you calculate profitability, be sure to ad electricity transfer and electricity tax to calculation. Not just electricity price.

Yeah, I already mentioned that (see bold).
3720  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Blocks are full. Are pool owners sleeping ? on: March 29, 2016, 07:23:32 PM
Again, extremely small sample set.  50 blocks?  Come on, now Smiley.  In the last 2 diff changes AntPool has ~12% of its blocks empty.  When I ran the data yesterday 223 of their 1870 blocks were empty.

223 blocks multiplied by an average 1500 transactions per block: 334500 transactions that could have been confirmed but weren't.

That's one pool - granted they are the worst offending one.

So, how about everyone stops mining on the pools producing the empty blocks and starts mining on pools that properly validate the work and always have transactions in the mempool?  Once that happens and we are straining against the limit of the block size, then we can worry about increasing it.
Exactly. Thanks for backing up my point Jonny
