There is no Antminer S8, I guess you mean S9.
Antminer S9 is loud as hell and it doesn't fit for home mining unless you got a good soundproof cabinet which also usually costs some money unless you find one for free somehow. I made a soundproof cabinet for my S9s myself for quite reasonable cost.

Depending on how much hash rate you want and how much money you would like to invest I would either try to find a second-hand Antminer S7-LN (quiet version of the S7) or the Antminer R4 (very quiet cooling fan solution). Antminer R4 is currently for sale at shop.bitmain.com but they are usually sold out pretty quickly. Batch 5 (hash rate 7.5 Th/s) is 916 USD plus shipping and batch 6 (hash rate 8.7 Th/s) is 1132 USD plus shipping.

I sent you PM

At that price it doesn't make any sense to buy one because the Antminer R4, batch 5 (7.5Th/s) costs only 916 USD.

what is default clock of R4?
For batch 1 the default frequency setting is 600 Mhz. For batch 2 and newer models , the miner adjusts the frequency settings per board automatically to achieve certain ideal hash rate.

I have bought two S9 from Eastshore and everything went well.

Are the new batches of S9's so inferior to the current ones, that they warrant buying older S9's at full price? o.o;
Some people prefer Version 1 firmware without the auto tune. I think the prices mostly reflect demand for s9's in general I see, i understand. Partially... people can't reflash firmware with the built-in open-wrt feature? No, there is no way to install a non-autotune firmware in a autotune model S9.

Hi
I have a client looking to buy 200 S9 antminers. We source these machines for him and take a % commission of the sale price (from the buyer NOT from the seller)
Please message if interested
Seller will be paid via btc escrow service ideally - I am new to this forum but I'll have a look for a trustworthy user to oversee this sale. Both parties have to be happy with the user that provides the escrow service
To clarify, we don't buy these machines but act as middlemen for it and take a % commission
p.s. if you have <200 S9s for sale please get in touch as buyer may still be interested
ideally seller from US but will consider international sellers
Why not deal directly with BMT? Yeah. It is most likely the only way with that huge amount of need for the Antminer S9.

He is running it strongly underclocked for home mining. Since it is not the newest shit auto-tune model, it can be easily set back to the nominal frequency and therefore for the nominal hash rate.

For example https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kill_A_WattKill A Watt manufactured by P3 International Might have a different name for European market.. The factory is the Taiwanese company Prodigit, which also makes 230 Vac models of similar appearance and functionality for European Schuko..

My graphs showed some hours of nearly no hashrate. Probably the pool was online but didn't work. It's a bit strange, that the actual graphs don't show this outage anymore.
Great, so I am not losing it. That sucks. Maybe I'll switch to f2pool until they sort it out. antpool 1.5% fee f2pool 4% fee so I use antpool normally with f2pool backup You do realise that the actual Antpool fee is much higher because miners are not getting shares of the tx fees? Use slush or kano.is for example, that's my advice. Does f2pool get tx fees? F2Pool keeps all the tx fees, no tx fees for miners. Check this out https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Comparison_of_mining_poolsTransaction fees are becoming more and more important part of the miner reward as days go by.

I'm pointing 500Th/s at the DE pool for ~6 hours

Good moment for people to think about different pool. The fee is zero, but think about how much is it not having a share of the tx fees. Also SPV mining is a bad thing.

Can we just focus on miners and stop bashing each other, please?
Would some of you go crazy if I suddenly show a picture of my Baikal miners, because they don't mine BTC directly (Nicehash) ? I love pictures about different setups, don't care about the currency. The currency discussion/comparison is a different topic itself of course. I believe in BTC in a long run.

Your numbers are way wrong. Eligius hash rate is roughly about 1900 Th/s, which equals 1900000 Gh/s.

Oh, sad too see that Did the voltage go way up in that situation? Presumably yes.
