No problem . You have now the original non-autotune firmware, but you could have one faulty board because you are able to get only one board hashing.

Efficiency is good - not great, but good. Makes me wonder if they're running the chips hot or if they're regulated. I'd like to see it with the shell off.
Here it is. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1725914.0They disappointed our expectations and decided not to release those upgrade kits... .. I'm actually in process with buying a X5 upgrade kit from Hotmine. I paid it and I have a tracking code. I will do a quick review/how-to guide here at the forum when I receive it. edit: tracking says that it has now arrived from Ukraine to here Finland, so I should have it quite soon. ___ But, back to the topic . Does anyone have more info about this Pantech miner? I sent Pantech e-mail, but they have not responded to me.

You have a broken fan connected to the Fan3 connector and possibly a dead hash board in the chain #3.

Did you lose internet connection? That is one situation when burns occur.

About an hour ago the NYA, pass-thru, and de nodes went down for several minutes. When they came back up - my 4 Avalons (3x 721, 1x 741 on 1 controller) at work have now lost a total of 7-8THs! Rebooted several times, restarted cgminer several times - no go. Before the outage I was running 27-28THs with them, now down to 20-21THs. The 741 at my GF's house is also now running slow - down to 5.6THs. I see that Canaan has also massively dropped from a couple PHs down to ~500THs. What has changed that the Avalons don't like? ?? All my Bitmain miners came right back up to normal speeds. I have also run into this problem from time to time with my 721 and I've been able to fix it with reboot in the web GUI Avalon Devices Status.

Bitshopper.de should have these for sale soon.

I used to have Huawei E353 3G USB Dongle plus TP-Link TL-MR3420 Router and I tested the setup with mining. Connection stability was not good enough for mining. I live in a near city centre area and there is a 3G base station near me.

The Avalons are rated at 1150w +15% so around 1322watts total. I would recommend at least at 1600w PSU if you are planning on buying a standard ATX power supply. Personally I would recommend you buy serve grade power supplies as they are more efficient and have more built in safety functions than a retail ATX psu. There are multiple people on this board that sell PSUs and breakout boards for exactly this purpose.
To run the Avalon you will need a Raspberry PI 3 (or equivalent) with an 8gb micro SD card. The miner itself comes with the cable and UART adapter needed to hook it up to the RPi and Canaan provides images for the RPi. The software is pretty self explanatory but if you have trouble there are setup guides to be found in the hardware section of the forum.
Sounds good. I have a raspberry PI 2, do you think that will be fine? Thanks for your help Yes. https://canaan.io/question/how-do-i-connect-an-avalonminer-721-and-avalonminer-controller-including-raspberry-pi-1-2-and-3/

Ok So you heard the beep in the start up and no change? I wonder if this works only with certain R4s after all.

Frequency control is back already. Well, this is an interesting find and I thought I'll share it with you. I had a problem booting my Antminer R4 8.0 Th/s, batch 2, autotune-model. So I went looking in here: Bitmain.com: Three Ways to Restore Factory Settings (R4/S9/T9) https://enforum.bitmain.com/bbs/topics/3957I used the last option in the list, IP Reporter button restore. Usage: Please power off the miner, then hold down the IP Reporter and don’t release it. At the same time, please power on the miner. Releasing the IP Reporter after 5 seconds, the machine will automatically restore factory settings. My miner restored with firmware Aug. 9 2016 and autotune settings were gone. I am now suddenly able to control frequency and custom fan settings. This was not my original problem, but I'm happy with it. My original problem was that the miner jammed somehow in the booting process and didn't even show up in my router ip list. Originally posted in R4 thread.

There is nothing to risk when you really think about it in software level. And I have tested it two times. It takes an original (older) firmware for both the controller and hash board PIC.
R4 and S9 have the same controller and pretty much the same software.

Well true. But it would still hurt earnings a little. But great idea, I'm not totally against the idea.

There use to be such high demand for manual control ability with autotune S9 models, but now, has someone tried my method with S9? I've done this successfully to my two R4s. This is also S9 related, so I thought to share this here as well. If there is someone with a desire for non-autotune settings, be brave and please report if you get same results as I had Originally posted in the R4 thread https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1597639.msg18267781#msg18267781Well, this is an interesting find and I thought I'll share it with you. See my edited last post if it could help you.
This could be a problem with new L3s but not with the old ones?
|
|
|
Have they really gone with the antpool only -path ? That's pretty dirty. edit: You could try if there is an older firmware in backup memory and use this method IP Reporter Restore (The miner will automatically revert to factory default firmware). https://enforum.bitmain.com/bbs/topics/3957This pool problem should not exist with older L3 firmware?

Even if this would go through, how is this helping earnings?

If they don't know about surge protection, then you have talked to some un-professional professional electricians.

|

Ok, I stand corrected, so no Ebit E9 for home mining.
|
|
|
Actually Ebit E9 miner should not be that bad to use at home. Also there is Hotmine ( en.hotmine.io), who offers upgrade kit for old Antminers and also full package miners for those with no good old Antminer. Hotmine X5 boards should be quite reasonable for home use with power consumption about ~500W. I'm currently in talks with them about buying one X5 upgrade kit for my old Antminer S1. I will also need to find Beaglebone Black board. I'm planning to do a quick review/how-to if everything goes ok.

Sounds like the best option would be asking professional electrician to come and install surge protectors in your fuse box.
Try searching "surge protector dehn" and you know what I mean.
There are some good explaining pictures in the picture search.
