1841  Economy / Speculation / Re: 1 Bitcoin, Not for everyone. on: September 01, 2022, 10:02:53 PM
People get way too obsessed with owning whole amounts. I'd just say if you truly believe in Bitcoin, and you think it might be a good investment regardless of whether you'll use it to just take money out later, invest whatever you can afford, without putting yourself in a position where if it fails, you'll be stuck.

Far too many people are going either all out, and investing every little bit they have or the opposite collecting dust for years, and hoping they'll somehow become a millionaire. Hey, maybe in another ten years I'll be eating my words for that last sentence, but I'd say you should be investing at least enough that the medium term would benefit you.

I agree, it's like they created this idea that you need to be a member of 1 BTC club. So regardless if you can get to it or not, just take advantage of it just like money because it is money after all.

I was also obsessed with the idea before, to be honest was able to save 1 BTC. But then again, I sold some and used it the way I wanted it to be and then just continue to reinvest in bear market. At least there is no pressure to save and then what?
1842  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Gambling Companies: First Massive Bitcoin Adopters on: September 01, 2022, 09:38:32 PM
Bitcoin developers aimed the creation of this decentralized coin to avoid transactions going through financial institutions. Developers and its early investors and believers never expected that it would be the gambling companies that will start the massive acceptance of bitcoin as a currency. Gambling companies accepting bitcoin have two effects on people:

1. People will think positively on bitcoin because gambling companies are carefully and well-managed kind of business. They are built to entertain people and to earn money in return. And there are hundreds of millions if not a billion or billions of people that are into gambling and many of them are exposed to bitcoin and its potential. Investing companies also have no problem with this as investing is also related to gambling with both facing levels of risks.

2. Many people take gambling companies as something dirty. People might as well take bitcoin as something dirty too. And bitcoin's decentralized form as a good way to evade authorities and government regulations.

Still boils down as to how they are going to make money, and so they found that crypto gambling platform is a sure formula. So it is not something that other business savvy has reinvent, it's that in the infancy or crypto, they found a way to offer it to the public just like fiat based casinos.

So I doubt that many people are taking gambling companies as dirty, it is just business in another form, just crypto based. If that is the argument then we should look at fiat based casinos whether online or offline as dirty. But it's not there is a even a country, Macau that based their countries economy thru gambling.
1843  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: September 01, 2022, 09:20:05 PM
^^ Well if he came out like he was still in his prime, then Westbrook is going to explode this seasons. And he knows it, he better play good otherwise Lakers is going down again and all criticism is on him, not Lebron not the new coach. He should get healthy this off set, train his body not to get injured and hopefully he can still be the Westbrook that we all know. So that is a good combo, Westbrook and Reaves off the bench, giving the Lakers the needed offense specially in close out games.
1844  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: September 01, 2022, 09:05:11 PM
Jake Paul has announced his next opponent is Anderson Silva. I think Jake might have but off a little more than he can chew this time. Sure, Silva is damn near 50 years old, but he’s got power that Jake hasn’t seen before. I like this fight. I’d rather have seen him fight Andrew Tate, but this was unexpected and a nice surprise.

looking at the two fighters I strongly believe that anderson silva will be victorious in this fight, that's because anderson silva had some boxing matches against strong opponents and he had a good performance, not to mention that the guy is an experienced MMA fighter, of course in boxing he can still be an amateur, but the fact that he fought in mma gives him some advantage over being more aggressive, being a person with good reflexes and knowing several fights, on the other hand we have Jake Paul who, despite being a young with some fights and victories against fighters who are also strong he is still young and doesn't have the fighting experience that anderson silva has. That's why for me anderson silva wins this fight, Jake Paul will definitely come out of this fight sad

I think Jake Paul has experienced fighting people in MMA and this is not the first time he is fighting one.  According to the record, he had a match against a former MMA fighter and won a 1st round TKO, and a former UFC champion twice winning with a split decision.  But thinking that the two previous opponent styles are wrestling, Jake Paul might probably have trouble facing Silva since Silva's fighting style includes boxing.  But one thing is hindering Silva in this fight, and that is his age. Fighting at 47 would take a toll for sure.  If I disregard the age factor, I would agree with you.

Yes, and if I'm not mistaken, either of the brothers have boxing experience so they can really fight those UFC fighters and win. But as you have said, Silva is well rounded, including a stand up boxing style.

But the age though, maybe once Paul touches that chin of Silva, he will go down. He is not known to have a good chin, maybe he can protect it. However, one punch can change the complexion of the fight.
1845  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [ BOXING POLL ADDED ] The Unification Fight: FURY vs USYK on: September 01, 2022, 02:26:33 PM
Yesterday I saw a video on YouTube where the reporter says Usyk that Fury said that he would fight him for 500 million, Usyk just laughed. To this, he replied that he also wanted 500 million, and said that Fury was simply afraid of him. I don't like Fury as an athlete and as a person, he can refuse a rematch (as he did with Klitschko), citing mental problems, or something like that. Such a person does not deserve to remain invincible.

I have the complete opposite, I like Fury as an athlete and as a person. He openly talked about his problems he was having (some years ago); is humble and always nice to watch during conferences. In the ring, he is simply the best and there is no doubt in my mind, if the fight would go through, that Fury will win it.

Yeah, he Fury seems to have that kind of personality that you are going to like. I mean just an ordinary bloke, just a regular guy you can find in a bar and have a talk with everything under the sun. He had indeed has mental issues thats why he didn't fight for a long time and some problems with drugs too.

I guess everyone has its own opinion on boxers. Floyd get the most hate but for sure there will be fans around telling the opposite.
1846  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will Bitcoin do $19k again before a bull market? on: September 01, 2022, 12:00:22 PM
Unfortunately, there is just so much bearish momentum in the markets and price is already too close to 19k for us to ignore this level and sadly there is nothing stopping the falling knife unless something big really triggers it for it to turn bullish...maybe a cease fire in the Russia Ukraine war would be something to excite bitcoiners/hodlers or maybe some institutional traders need to start buying these lows and the herd mentality will kick in and markets will turn bullish once again Roll Eyes.
Right now I have to be honest I have no idea how the price of bitcoin is going to move next, the price has been dancing around that level for some time and right now we are slightly above 20,000, but who knows what the price is going to be tomorrow? I really think that at this moment people should not try to do any kind of fancy moves and instead they should wait until finally the bears and the bulls are able to decide a winner and the market takes a more clear direction.

The month was close around $20,0xx, but if you look at the price right now, it's fluctuating to highs of $19k to lows of $20k. So still bearish as e have seen in the last two weeks and there is no momentum for another push. And when we are very bullish when the price hits $25k and we talk about $30k, now we are in a point wherein the price is like 2-3 months ago in an average. So there is no movement, it is still continuing to move sideways. But it could be worst though, with the news of the Mt. Gox and then the war in Europe still up in the air. So we are still happy to see the price around the support of $20k.
1847  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Does altcoins actually have the potentials of generating benefits to investors? on: August 31, 2022, 09:48:01 PM
As a beginner into the trading business, I'm always scared of putting my money into altcoins but I do hear some people talk about how they make profits altcoins.

So I decided to come here to seek the views of experienced traders on the potentials of altcoins.

Of course, altcoin market is also thriving and I think there are many investors who made a lot of money. But the thing is that you should know how to look for gems and that is the most difficult part. You really have to chase and do your own investigations. There could be websites that can help you out with that so again, you have to do a lot o leg work. And it's going to be trial and error, maybe you found something and you think it will give you 10x-100x, but then the project turns out to be scam and just hype. So there is a lot of lessons to be learn before you succeed in this market.
1848  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: August 31, 2022, 09:27:23 PM
Really difficult to find value in this early rounds. I checked the markets today and nothing looks amazing.

Maybe Korda to win against Paul and make it 4. win in 4 matches? Odds are good.

Wolf should win quite easy against Tabilo, I am on -1.5 set handicaps here.

Kyrgios should win 3:0 but I said to myself that I am never placing a bet on this particular @#@#!& So skipping it

Took a quick look myself also, but hard to find any value bets. Personally, I still place bets on Kyrgrios but not when he is playing lower ranked players; we saw it in Wimbledon that he can easily loose 1 or 2 sets against these guys because his motivation is not always 100% in these matches.

Same here, not value bets for now, perhaps it's time to just watch and see how this players are doing, our favorites so that we will know their form and maybe we can bet on them on the next succeeding rounds if they are the underdogs.

Murray won already in 3 sets against Nava, good call for this one if he at least have Murray on handicap as he blasted Nava in the last 3 sets after a 7-5 lost in the first.

Medvedev vs Rinderknech later.
1849  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Resisting the below twenty thousand level on: August 31, 2022, 09:12:20 PM
The price seems to be moving slowly, not fast and waiting for something.
The price itself continues to fluctuate as usual and maybe something will happen in the next month, which is only a short time away.
We must anticipate all possibilities that can occur so that we can adapt to all situations and conditions.
If the price should go down, prepare your money to buy more bitcoins because that means the time for the discount has come.

It's the end of the month and hopefully just above $20K and then we might see a lot of sideway pattern again next month. Yes, I do agree that we should anticipate all possibilities, another lower lows and dips, nevertheless, we are in a bear market so just expect the worst. Buying the dip is the best strategy in this cycle, and as long as you can afford to lose or at least money that you are willing to invest long term, till the next bull run then it's good to buy this cheap bitcoin. So far the price based on coinmarketcap is $20,204.24.
1850  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Naoya Inoue vs Paul Butler - Undisputed Bantamweight Bout - December 13 on: August 31, 2022, 08:57:15 PM
A mismatch? An easy win for Inoue? Not even a big challenge for Inoue? Can't blame some people's view about the match as the distance between Naoya Inoue and Paul Butler is really that wide and long gap. I can't even think of a way how Butler can survive the wrath of Inoue.

No mentioned venue at the moment but it's in Japan. The first time Paul Butler will fight outside the United Kingdom. Almost all advantages are on Inoue.

Wow! This fight took earlier than I expected because I believe at first that this fight will be possible next year and I didn't even know at all that both camps have an ongoing discussion to make this fight happen as I'm so focused on waiting for Spence-Crawford undisputed fight.

It's really safe to say that this fight is really a mismatch and will be a walk in the park for Inoue because Butler has no tools in his belt that could potentially defeat the Japanese boxer, therefore, the latter cannot really avoid getting a defeat in this fight. Well, the only good thing on Butler's side is that this fight might be his biggest paycheck in his career as he possesses the last remaining belt in the bantamweight division.

Inoue was not damage in his fight against Donaire, it just took him 2 rounds. While Butler was extending, still he won so it's good that this two will fight before the end of the year to settle the best bantamweight.

It could be walk in the park, but for sure Butler are not going to be intimidated by Inoue and he want this challenge. But we all know how brutal Inoue, I'm expecting that he will used his jab here, just to make Butler feel his power. As someone said, we can't find weaknesses on his game.
1851  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: August 31, 2022, 08:42:25 PM
We've got some rumors about Carmelo Anthony. He's likely to go with the Boston Celtics. He's a potential signee for them.

I thought he will go to the Knicks, not sure how he will fit in Boston though, probably what he has given to the Lakers, off the bench and then maybe had a good shooting night, 20+ ppg in he stay with them throughout the season. And it's good to see still play and the Celtics need a veteran like him in the bench.

While the recent news about Gallinari's going to Boston, there's the most recent news that he's got injured and that's why Melo is being considered for a potential contract.

Yeah, I thought it was not that bad, but it seems worst than we expect or at least what the Boston see. It is a torn meniscus he got from FIBA qualifying playing for his native country Italy.
1852  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: August 28, 2022, 09:41:07 AM
I think that Medvedev is very talented and a good tennis player, but mentally he is still not at the level of Djokovic and Nadal.
The same goes for Kyrgios. Amazing tennis talent but he ruined because of his character and insufficient dedication to tennis.
Since Djokovic is not there, the clear favorite is Nadal again and he now has the opportunity to separate himself from Djokovic and Federer on the eternal list of GS winners and become unattainable to everyone, the greatest tennis player of all time.
As for other young tennis hopefuls, it seems to me that Coric could surprise at this tournament and achieve a good result.
I agree with your point as I am also feeling Medvedev is one of the best player in current generation players, and he can improve in next few years with good experience and no doubt he could be stayed at top for long time like we have three giants in last two decades Kyrgios is also one of the best but due to his behavior we can't go with him for staying at op as he is having some mental issue and need to settle this before having any better results at top level.

Medvedev is surely going to be tough for Nadal which is clearly favorite in this event after Djokovic is not coming due to health issues and Federer is also now out of game for quite long time so good time for him to do his best.

Coric could be a surprise package as he won last event and have good form but still he is unpredictable, hopefully he will improve his game and try to stay here as long as he can.

We also have Alcaraz in the back ground and really improving every tournament and then also Sinner should be also in the discussion in the US Open.

So there are a lot of names specially that this is a Grand Slam and everyone are going to put their best effort to go to the finals and give themselves a chance to win because Djokovic is not entered.

So it's Medvedev, Nadal, Alcaraz, "crowd favorite" Nick, Tsitsi and then Jannik Sinner as early favorites.
1853  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [ BOXING POLL ADDED ] The Rematch - JOSHUA vs USYK II (updated thread) on: August 28, 2022, 09:16:07 AM
Ok here is what Robert Garcia has to say about Joshua's breakdown:

Quote
“Joshua was mentally defeated since round ten or eleven," García told Izquierdazo. “Round ten was a big one for Usyk. That changed the whole fight, and mentally we were defeated. At that point, we were relying on a good shot or something like that, because Anthony is a hard puncher, and one shot can change a fight. That is what we were hoping for, one shot, because he (AJ) was dominated at that point of the fight."

https://www.boxingscene.com/robert-garcia-feels-joshua-mentally-defeated-tenth-usyk-rematch--168622

His point is that when AJ had a very good round in round 9, but he wasn't able to finished Usyk that time with that body shot.

And then Usyk, the fighter that he is, wanted to erase round 9, simply came back in round 10 and after that, it seems that Joshua is spent already and tired and yeah maybe mentally defeated and asking how can he can't finished him in the previous round and then make a huge comeback? Questioning himself, but again, Usyk is far more superior than him so 9 out of 10 fights, Usyk will beat him.
1854  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: August 28, 2022, 08:57:33 AM
I think THT and Stanley Johnson would be worthless in the playoffs. Patrick Beverly at least has the potential to impact a high level game. If your goal is a championship, I think the Lakers are on the right side of that deal. If you’re just trying to stay competitive for cheap while you go through a rebuild, THT isn’t a bad pickup. He hasn’t lived up to the praise so far.
It's a Nets-like perspective. Win now. The Lakers are not in a building mode to save some young players and polish them. For now.
I think they want to maximize the chances while they still have Lebron paired with AD.
Although I disagree with my last post about this because I think THT is a future piece, you may be right if that's the case.
Let's expect more trades to happen from them as they try to build a championship team. Chemistry might not be a problem for veterans but they sure needs some speed in their roster.

I don't know about THT the future of Lakers,  I mean he is good but I doubt that he can turn out like what Brandon Ingram is or even Jordan Clarkson. Me as well thought that it 's good that they didn't include him the Westbrook trade, but then again last season it was just a neither very good nor very bad performance. And so the Lakers chooses that they can't wait any longer for him to developed with Lebron and AD and Westbrook still in their roster. He might turn out to be a great player though like the one a I mentioned but not that good when they are with the Lakers. It thanks someone to get out of the system and see how they grow.
1855  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: August 27, 2022, 08:32:00 PM

Adrian Broner should have announced his retirement if he doesn't want to fight anymore After his loss to Manny Pacquiao he isn't the same anymore, he doesn't want to take a fight mostly, he sure is not the same Adrian Broner back then, in my opinion, or maybe I think he realised that he isn't really cut to fight Omar Figueroa Jr. anymore so he is making alibi so he can not fight him, and we can not persuade a fighter that doesn't want to fight anymore, he might have realized that he isn't on his prime anymore,

Nah, I think he got exposed by Marcos Maidana, after his first defeat in boxing, he seemed to have lost his ability to win, he is more talk than action in the ring, even in the fight with Pacman, he disrespected the champ, and though he won the fight although it was obvious that was hit more than he hits Pacman.

I agree, I was about to say that, it was really Marcos Maidana who took the soul of Broner, Lol, after his defeat he is no longer the same, and become the laughing stock of the internet. But he can't accept it so he continue to fight and even if he is beaten by Manny, he thinks he still won. I'm on the fence as well with he call the fight off with Omar Figueroa citing mental issues. But I have a feeling that Broner will still continue to fight just to have the money because he as a lot brushed with the law and then he will have to continue his child support.

1856  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Crawford vs Spence on: August 27, 2022, 08:13:14 PM
It could have a rematch (even if there is no written clause in the initial contract), if the fight is going to be razor sharp close or maybe even in a draw.

But if it's a convincing win, then maybe not, but if there is a huge money involved then again, they could go and fight one more before going up in weight. So I guess the fans will also have a final say and maybe the promoters are going to take that lead from us if they see a demand for it.
1857  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC Sentiment Poll for August on: August 27, 2022, 07:56:29 PM
And so we all got it wrong again, we started very bullish in the first 2 weeks and then last week we have seen the price going down from $25k-$21k. And now it is still going down, the whole crypto market cap is way below the magic numbers of $1 Trillion. So I guess with the Fed and the Mt. Gox news, we are still going to continue with the pain of this bear market at least for the month, and who knows what is going to happen as we enter the last 4 months of this year.
1858  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Vasiliy Lomachenko vs Jamaine Ortiz - October on: August 25, 2022, 09:50:17 PM
Seeing Loma and Haney in one ring would really be exciting though it will also be a big challenge for the both of them. Haney might really be the bettor favorite but I think Lomo would really show off his aggressiveness to beat down Haney. Loma vs Ortiz would be another opportunity for Loma to strengthen up his stamina in preparation for him to face Haney in the future.
This is my thoughts exactly. My money is on Lomachenko. For me, he possess the qualities of a good boxer. Unlike Ortiz, he has a better Boxing IQ and ring generalship. During the match, I expect that he’ll be able to pick up the pace to an intense level. This will in turn expose cracks in Ortiz ring IQ that should bring about mistakes in the ring. I see this match as a prep fight for Loma. The real deal is going to be with Haney.

But there might not be value in your money if you bet on ML for Loma in this fight. For sure Ortiz will be a huge underdog. So for me, better to wait for other betting options to get listed first and look for the best odds for our money.

But I do agree that even if Loma was quite away from boxing because of the war, he still got the boxing IQ and overall ring generalship that is very hard for Ortiz to overcome. I might be seeing Ortiz getting confused in some rounds when Loma started his aggressiveness and then his hi-tech style.

https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/34457655/oklahoma-city-thunder-rookie-chet-holmgren-miss-2022-23-nba-season-foot-injury-suffered-pro-game

And there it is.  This has bust written all over it.  7 foot lanky children aren't meant for the bodying up on nba level players.  Chet is out for the season after a foot injury from guarding lebron.  This kid is going to be hurt every year.  They should have drafted jabari.

Let's just be positive about this kid. And looking at some great players who have missed their rookie season.

- Joel Embiid
- Blake Griffin
- Julius Randle

Those players turn out to be very good specially a prime Griffin with the Clippers. Joel has improved thru the years and almost won the MVP last year. Julius Randle found a home with the Knicks.

Maybe we are not there yet, but I think in the future , trying to avoid gambling platforms with KYC can be dangerous. Scammers will be trying to exploit this, almost irrational, fear of losing privacy, offering platforms with no KYC.
All require the process of implementing KYC regulations like in previous exchange platforms, everyone refuses to provide personal data but when the top exchange raises the status of the obligation to verify KYC to access deposits and withdrawals, the other alternative is to just trade on other lower volume exchanges. So gambling platforms must ensure that KYC is harmless and will not be misused for negative purposes, ensure that user data can be encrypted and stored in external data (not online) to increase the security system from hackers.

I think that is one of the main concerns of individuals who doesn't want to provide their KYC in any services. Just like what we have heard horror stories in the past years wherein KYC was asked by the exchanges and then they don't know how to protect it as the data has been stolen. EU for example have this one:

https://ec.europa.eu/info/law/law-topic/data-protection/data-protection-eu_en

But so far though, I haven't heard any crypto gambling platform being hacked or our data being leaked. And hopefully there are storing those data of their customers in a safe place and one of reach by anyone.
