1781  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: September 23, 2022, 12:43:35 PM
I guess it's huge news for them, he is one who changes the franchise last year, so him being absent this season wherein they are one of the favorites because of how they manage to go to the finals.
Not sure though what is happening around the league, I mean I thought this is an open secret. Players bang everyone, and as far as I can remember, Magic Johnson got the AIDS virus because he was "intimate" to many females during his playing time.

It will be major changes for them unless the one who will gonna take his place is capable enough to tame the Celtic stars. I can't believe they still do such a thing to their staff considering relationships such as this one are no longer a surprise for anyone out there. I guess because he is a coach and married too. to have intimate relationships with other women seems not a good thing because when you are a coach you are simply a role model. They are just simply cutting some damage that might gonna happen if he is still the coach of the team.

Or maybe the limelight is with the NBA right now after the Sarver incident, and so this one made it public as well and do it destroys the reputation of Udoka and I will say that the Celtics is not going to hire him any more, worst any team for that matter because of what had happened.

And I also agree that this is a huge concern for the Celtics management, in fairness Udoka did a good job as coach. So it will be hard pressed for the assistant coach to come under that performance. Stakes are high for him to perform a good job.
1782  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Naoya Inoue vs Paul Butler - Undisputed Bantamweight Bout - December 13 on: September 23, 2022, 12:15:35 PM

I also think that the coming match between Inoue and Butler will have a high percentage of ending in a KO.  Looking at all angles, Inoue has the advantage but we should always be open for an upset win which I think has a very low chance of happening.

Very obvious, some of the indicators why KO is most likely the result are.

1-Inoue is a KO artist. of the 23 fights, 20 of that are won by KO
ref - https://boxrec.com/en/box-pro/628407

2-Inoue is the heavy favorite, so it's gonna be KO or TKO because Butler might not able to continue.

Yes and in Inoue's last fight, he completely destroyed Donaire in just 2 rounds, so talk about not just simply knocking out his opponent, he is taking them down in less than 7.5 rounds.

So if Butler survived the full 12 rounds, that's already a big accomplishment for him because it's very tough to hang with Inoue because of his power in both hands.
1783  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin island in the Philippines? on: September 21, 2022, 09:54:48 PM
I guess this is similar to Bali Island in Indonesia if I'm not mistaken. I read that the island is taking bitcoin as payment because there are a lot of tourist in there. Unfortunately, there was a crackdown and we don't know what happened after that.

The Philippines though is very welcome to crypto, so I will say that this is good to hear that they are going to allow it in Boracay, another tourist destination for the country.
1784  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: September 21, 2022, 09:36:17 PM
^ It's already getting hype by both camps, as Zayani said that he wouldn't hold in this exhibition fight and Manny says the same. If that is the case then we might see a full blown fight.

And regarding Canelo, he responded to David Benavidez dad, as we all know David's father said that his son will beat Canelo.

But Canelo doesn't want to give David the fight because he hasn't accomplished any.

Quote
“I see his dad talking a lot of sh!t,” Alvarez said. “Look what he’s accomplished – nothing. [He beat] one, single champion, Anthony Dirrell. Please, don’t disrespect [me]. Please, guys.”

https://www.boxingscene.com/canelo-i-see-benavidezs-dad-talking-lot-sht-look-what-hes-accomplished-nothing--169178

David should know the word patience and not to pursue some fights that will be ugly for him as it's not his time to face Canelo yet, as said above, David may have a pretty nice record but he can't boast that to Canelo yet because the latter will just give David his ugly moments that he won't probably forget. Canelo was just giving the kid a chance to grow on his own time and phase, David will have his chance soon but not this time.

And it just shows that Canelo might have other plans in the horizon after winning against Canelo. No doubt that David is a rising star in the super middle weight division. But I don't see him beating a prime Canelo. Maybe in the next 2 -3 years, maybe he will have his chance against him, but for now, his father should look on how to build his son and face opponents that will more likely see if he has the potential to become the next future star at 168 lbs instead of chasing Canelo and look for that biggest payday.
1785  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: September 21, 2022, 09:18:17 PM
Over at Metz Thiem has beaten Gasquet in two sets and is into the second round to meet
Hurkacz. Interestingly Wawrinka is through also against Sousa. Two guys making their
way back from injuries/surgeries. Stan meets Medvedev tomorrow. Two tough opponents
for both Thiem and Wawrinka.

Ok, we then have to look for Thiem if he is already mentally back in the tournament. He beat a good player in Gasquet although is is also inconsistent as the stars. Hurkacz might be a different case for Thiem, he will be tested here so let's see how it goes.

Same for Stan, against the former number one in Medvedev, it will be tough and so I don't think that Wawrinka will win again Medvedev, it might be just 2 sets.
1786  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: September 21, 2022, 01:33:24 PM
Biggest news in the NBA today… LeBron has finally decided to go bald. No more crazy headband and hair plugs. I think this can only be a good thing for him. I’m expecting Bald Bron to go hard this year, as his championship window is rapidly closing. I’m glad his hairline won’t be a distraction any more. It seemed like that was taking up more of his time than it should have been.

That was crazy. Father time is indeed calling him not through his physical capacity but with his hair on his head. The hairline did not held back for long and just decided to get bald.
I am excited for the next season because there are a lot of young bloods who does looks promising. I wanna see how the old players like Lebron would catch up to the new generation players.

You mean rookies? yeah, but there is one that we will not going to see this season and that is Chet because he injured himself.

Lebron should have done it years ago, go bald because of his receding hairline. Nevertheless, should not bother him at all, it's his performance that is going to count this season. New team mates, new coach, we will see how Lebron is, how his body will perform against the young blood.

^  There is no doubt that Lebron James is one of those players who age like fine wine. Over time, he will only become better and better.

Yes, you are right that there are some very interesting young blood in the league right now, who are showing significant potential in the basketball world.
I do believe, however, that Lebron will be able to create competition for the new players in the NBA as I am of the opinion that he still has two to three years left of his peak performance in the NBA.
I am curious to see how LeBron performs with his team in the upcoming season, so I look forward to seeing the results.

Or wait till one of his son gets drafted in the NBA and they play along in one team.

He takes care of his body more than anyone in the NBA that's why he can still play great despite his age. Wherein some of his contemporaries are either retired or no longer in their prime.

I guess he will still be the same Lebron, with another goal to win a ring as a Laker. But it's not only him, it should be a total team effort.
1787  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Resisting the below twenty thousand level on: September 19, 2022, 02:33:10 AM
And we are still battling the $20,000 support line, since we have this flash crash this week. At least the bulls is trying it's best to protect this price and it now stands at $19,833.

So it will be a uphill battle again, nevertheless it's weekend so not expecting any price movement that will push the price below. The test will be next week again, we will see if we can get to that $20,000 level and hopefully we will maintain it and then hit $22,000 the highest price that we have been so far in the last two months.

Yes, we're on the weekend so there won't be much volatility. However, next week, we will have a big test coming up when the Fed will hold its meeting on September 20, and 21, and we will see how it goes. This will be the last test of September, I hope the results will not be too bad for bitcoin as well as financial markets. If we can't hold the $20k support then I think we will have a new bottom for this bear season. No matter what the outcome of next week will be, just don't panic, fight to the end we will still be the winner.

I don't think we need to wait for that day, as the market plunges below $19k now. And even if we believed that there is no movement in weekends, there are a lot of sellers putting a big pressure and so the $20k support line has been broken.

Of course there is no need to panic, on the contrary, it might be good to buying, if the price remain at $18k or even goes down again because of the Fed meeting and the speed on how they raise the rate hike and how big is it against their projection this month. Also, there is the CME future contracts that are also going to expire in the next couple of days, so I'm expecting the price to tumble again.
1788  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Vasiliy Lomachenko vs Jamaine Ortiz - October 29 on: September 18, 2022, 11:27:40 PM
They said that Haney is a boring fight, well, I would say he would not be able to play safe against a technical Loma, because if he has speed, Loma has quickness as well and not only that, he is also very precise in throwing his punches. I'm sure everyone here can't wait to see this fight so we will know the winner, and if it's Loma, there's a chance that they will fight early next year if Haney will beat Kambosos again.

Haney if fitted against another counter-puncher then expect that to be a boring fight but not with a very technical Lomachenco as what you have said. That would be an exciting fight and I have Loma to emerge as the victor because he has the power in both hands. Just look at what he did to Rigo when they meet, the latter has nowhere to hide and as a result, retires on his stool in that fight.

Loma vs Haney is the fight everyone is waiting for but Loma needs to take care first of Ortiz and Haney to defeat Kambosos as well.

That's true! Haney will be much tested by Loma if their fight will really happen soon enough and the fight will not be boring to see anymore because of the latter's technicalities that will likely make the undisputed boxer struggle. That will be a sight that I wanted to see!

But for now, both of them still have their own respective fight that needs to be won by both camps so that their fight will be inevitable. However, I believe Loma won't have a hard time defeating Ortiz as this fight is likely a tune-up for Loma before he face Haney.

I can agree to you, Loma's skills even he was out for some time can still have an upper hand against Ortiz, while with Haney and Kambosos, both are eager to win. Though we have seen how Haney beats Kambosos before and he still has that advantage, and maybe if in case Kambosos disappoints Haney, we might see a trilogy between these two champs before we will see Loma fighting whoever wins that trilogy.

We never know what are the plans coming from their promoters but everything will depend on what will be the results of their upcoming fights.

Well, if Kambosos manages to upset Haney then surely there will be a high chance that a trilogy fight will happen soon after the rematch, I know that Bob Arum will surely make that happen but I believe that the trilogy will take place and happen in the US, but that is if Devin Haney will be defeated.

We will have to see, if there is a demand from fight fans, maybe it will happen and could be held in the US. And hopefully Kambosos will return the favor to Haney, but if George elected to push for a Loma fight, then Haney will have to wait or fight some boxers to get him busy. I believed that boxers do have control on which boxer they want to face next, the only challenges is making it if the fighter is on the other side of the promotion and that they have a different network. Either side will have to make a compromise. But in this case, it's going to be easy, as Loma and Haney are with Top Rank. So expect them to face each other if Haney wins here.
1789  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Canelo vs Golovkin 3 - September 17 on: September 18, 2022, 10:45:47 PM
it took 12 rounds and a decision to defeat GGG. seem not a real fight to me actually. canelo seem very careful in getting too close to fight toe to toe. no highlight that really inflicts damage. its either that or he makes sure the crowd will enjoy a 12 round fight for the independence day celebration. anyone see it like this is an exhibition fight?

GGG is also too cautious making him lose rounds.  There are opportunities where GGG can land solid punches but being too cautious making him miss those opportunities.   The fight is like wait and counter making jobs a more effective way to score.  GGG throws jobs but most of them got deflected or blocked by Canelo's defense, while Canelos land more punches by sneaking body shot, hooks and uppercut.  Canelo somehow stole rounds by landing combinations impressing the judges.

It is indeed a close fight but the result says it.  Canelo wins the fight but it was too close, IMO.

I do agree with your statements.

The fight overall was somehow not explosive as I thought it would be but still enjoyable. There were lots of opportunities on both players where they could take risks and go for the blow but the fight was cautious one for both. Maybe they were not taking too much risks since they were chasing for points in the round. But again, that iron chin of GGG cannot KOed.

Though that might be the case, I am quite thrilled that we see an ending to this exceptional trilogy- where Canelo stood to the top!

Both of them are cautious in the beginning, Canelo even says that after the first 1, he knows that it is going to be very difficult to knock Golovkin out so it became a chess match, although Canelo seems to be dominating the rounds but the judges saw it very close so it's good that they because conscious scoring it.

For the future of both boxers, Golovkin says that he still has 3 belts at 160 lbs so for sure he will have to defend it next year. Just a matter of time before he retire though, as I agree with some boxing pundits that GGG is somehow slowing down already, evident in the Murata fight wherein he takes a lot and then in this fight against a prime Canelo. And so the their rivalry has ended, Canelo winning the trilogy is decisive enough that he won it, although there is a argument that he fought a version of Golovkin that is almost no longer at his best, (2nd and this fight).
1790  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum Merge Success on: September 17, 2022, 10:37:06 PM
Ethereum Merge Is Done and considered successful, Do you think Ethereum has the solution Bitcoin needs and is this proof of ETH Next Of BTC after normal market?

I don't think so, Bitcoin is the prime mover and it will take a lot to change it's algorithm, not saying that everything is written in stone, but in the last 10 years, there have been discussions about it but there are a lot of disagreements, so there is no consensus so I doubt that it will be implement. Although many have been attacking bitcoin on POW, it's harmful effects on the environment, nevertheless that's our strength and that is why it is on the top of cryptocurrencies.

And for Ethereum, we will see how the solution is, for sure there are many changes, but it become so centralized now and so this might backfired for them in the future, I reckon.
1791  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Canelo vs Golovkin 3 - September 17 on: September 17, 2022, 10:20:15 PM
If there's a manipulation then most likely Canelo will win again. GGG does believe that he will be robbed again if he will not KO Canelo, so it's going to be a hard job for him knocking out Canelo because the champ is a younger guy and still on his prime.

What I expect in this game is that it's gonna be an entertaining fight, but most of us believe Canelo will win via decision.
Would you agree with that?

I think everyone understands that any controversial situation will be resolved in favor of Canelo and if the fight is equal or without a big advantage of one of the boxers, then Canelo will definitely be declared the winner. It is not profitable for anyone to give the victory to a boxer who is about to retire and finally ruin the career of Canelo, who can be a money cow for many years to come. In this sense, the fight is initially unfair - GGG understands all this and is under great pressure.
Boxing does involved business which it would be understandable that there are particular things which had been prepared or been set up and as you speak or mentioned about money cow then its not something new anymore.About pressure then each fighter do really able to feel out these things specially if they are aware on what are the things been involved.
Its indeed a pressure.

Now, a lot of boxing fans are waiting for this match. As it may be the last fight of GGG.

This is his last fight with the DAZN contract, so not sure if he will renew if he is going to be offered a new contract if he decided to continue with his career, win or lose.

As judges are aware that people are on eyes of this fight, I don't think they will decide a very unfair decision.
Because if one of them will win fair and square, I don't think the judges will give a very upsetting results.
I am also excited to watch this fight and see how far can GGG goes on this one.

I don't think that that judges will give a unfair decision, or at least favor Canelo if he doesn't deserved to win. As you have said, all eyes are watching, so they better do a good job as compare to the last 2 fight. Because for sure there will be a lot of criticism and they might not be able to judge or at least be suspended if they f**ed this one up.
1792  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: September 17, 2022, 01:19:51 PM
Funny thing happen, not sure if this has happen before, but recently, Carlos Alcaraz losses his first match since becoming the world number 1 to Felix-AA in the Davis Cup, 6-7 (3), 6-4, 6-2. And the thing is, this match is on Alcaraz home country in Spain.

I don't know if we have someone who can dig the records of let's say Roger Federer when he become number 1 and who is his opponent and if he won or not in his first game, or any other newly crowned number 1 in the past.

1793  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Canelo vs Golovkin 3 - September 17 on: September 17, 2022, 12:50:29 PM
I noticed an interesting thing about this fight: Golovkin can win, but most likely only by knockout - he is too old to last the whole distance of the fight and win on points.

I don't agree with you that GGG can't last the whole fight just because of his age. He has the stamina to last long.

But likely, if the fight went to a decision, Canelo might be the winner. GGG can only win by Knock Out or he is evident the clear winner of each round like what happened when Bivol got the unanimous win against the favorite Canelo. Canelo is the current cash cow and the result might get influenced in favor of him.

Yes, I'm also in the majority that whoever wins in this fight, it will be via decision, whether UD or SD. Regarding the difference in the looks, I don't see any difference, definitely, the face of Golovkin is fuller because of the added weight so he don't need to drain himself again.

And it's finally going to happen, after so much anticipation, in less that 24 hours we are going to see the fight. Best of luck to those who put their bet.
1794  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ethereum (ETH) on Its Way to $2,100, Top Trader Says ! on: September 16, 2022, 10:16:50 PM
It's been over a month since I opened the thread, but ethereum has gone even lower. I don't think ethereum will recover in a few more months. That's why we need to be patient.

And the effect is already price-in mate, sorry that the prediction didn't hit, but that's why it is called prediction. No one really knows what is going to happen in the future, we are all banking that because of the merging, ETH will have at least get to a good position, around $2k.

But market reacted the opposite, there are more sellers, because they are afraid that because of the CPI the market will continue to bleed. I guess the next leg up will be in the bull run, so yeah, patience is the key here.
1795  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Crawford vs Spence on: September 16, 2022, 09:18:49 PM
I think we should better wait till there is an official announcement regarding the anticipated fight. Of course, it's good to hear that there are development from within. But the report say that they are still looking at the November 19 date which is very near and things are very iron out regarding the PPV and which network are going to cover this mega fight.

If they haven't announced it yet I don't think they will rush it by the middle of November.  Probably the biggest fight for both of them and boxing will want to suck out as much as they can from this fight.  At this point it would probably be sometime in 2023 but who knows.  Just sitting waiting patiently.

As for me, I don't think that it's a rush even they will push it on the speculated date on November 19 and announcement will be posted even on the last day of this month. No problem about building a hype in attempt to lure more viewers since this is a mega fight and talks about this fight started way back several months ago. I even think that the moment this fight will be officially materialized and announcement will now be all over the world, ticket sales will be sold out might be within just 2-3 days.

Agree with you though, just sit and wait patiently.

I'm not sure if this is the latest update though, we have heard this if I'm not mistaken, that these 2 have agreed already verbally when they won their respective bout. And that was months ago that's why the target date is November 19.

They already build the hype train, fans are waiting, social media are exploding and having their own predictions as how the fight is going to turn out an who is the winner. They just have to sit down so that we will see this fight really happening this year or the next. And the timing of the release of the statement, this is Canelo and GGG week because they will have the fight.
1796  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Clarity on KYC verification & online gambling. on: September 16, 2022, 01:15:39 PM
I understand the importance of KYC verification to be carried out by casinos, but since the introduction of use of cryptocurrency in gambling by online casinos and other betting services, does KYC verification from online casinos and sport betting services not directly go against the anonymity that cryptocurrency seeks to provide to people? Does it mean that gambling online anonymously is no longer possible?

Any crypto services that requires  KYC, is going against the basic tenant of crypto or it's supposedly (pseudo) anonymity.

However, I guess this is part and parcel of crypto being in the spot light for sometime, and so regulatory bodies is hot on it's tail and wanted everything to be black and white and so they've mandated every services to have KYC in place including gambling platforms which they follow because they want to stay in the business. I would say if you are just average gambler then you can be anonymous, but if you are a whale, at certain point online crypto casinos will ask you to undergone KYC.

It is really sad to see him go, but he should have done it a few years ago. We have already forgotten what kind of a player he was because the last 5+ years he was forcing it although he was physically unable to cope.

If we boil it down to numbers alone, we can always discuss that Nadal or Đoković are better than Roger. But for me the 'eye test' is the most important factor when deciding who is the best player and there can be only one player on top.

Federer is the essence of how tennis should be played. One of the most impressive athletes of all time.

I think for the generation that really saw Roger  won the Canadian Open in early 2000's and become one of the big 3 and the GOAT, it really sadden to see him retire like this. However, it's obvious as you have said that he has lost his prime already in the last 3 years and although he has competed and won tournaments, it is not the same Federer because of the wear and tear on his body. He had accomplished a lot and for me he is just a shade above Nadal and Djkovic, so personally he is my top 1 regardless of the numbers.

Federer is one of the biggest players in tennis history but to me he is just under Djokovic and Nadal. For the best in history nadal and djokovic are fighting heavily but i think if Djokovic didnt miss all of this tournament due to this stupid protocol he would have already had 24+ grand slam titles for sure

That's why I said it's debatable, we could have many factors to look a, like the number of Grand slam they've won, the competition that they've face and H2H against each other.

Nevertheless, when we hear someone who have played the game to almost perfection and given us so many great games, it's always going to hurt us tennis fans. And then sooner we might hear another of the big 3 retiring, but we have to accept it.

As you know flood its part of world unfavourable environment. its has bundle of other reaction not in specefic area but around ecosystem. is flood fetching changing in economics? if yes but how!!!!!

For sure it has an impact, specially countries that are not prone to flood and suddenly there is a heavy rain so they don't know how to react.

And then the whole farming industries is the first one to get him and then everything will trickle down, prices increases around the world. But there could be solution for government, to import commodities, but it the end if could harm them too. So it's like everything is connected right now, floods destroying crops, businesses stop, houses destroys, people will have to lived in the street, food shortages.

1800  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: September 15, 2022, 08:41:51 PM
I think you're probably right that a big change is coming for them in the near future.  Russell Westbrook just put his multimillion-dollar Los Angeles home up for sale, so he's expecting to need to find a new place to live in the near future.  I would think that you wouldn't put your home up for sale unless you knew that a change in scenery was imminent, which leads me to believe in spite of all the friendly talk, Pat Beverly and Russell Westbrook won't be playing on the same team.  I'm even starting to wonder if picking up Pat Bev was a way to help nudge Russell towards a buyout.

Honestly, I still have no idea if any other team would risk getting Westbrook, but it's clear that his decision to put the house in Los Angeles up for sale indicates that there is a good chance that the Lakers will get rid of him before the start of the season. By the way, this situation reminds me of Ben Simmons, who also put up for sale his real estate in Philadelphia before being traded to the Nets.

Think people are looking too much into that.  Market is high a good time to sell.  And yeah he might be gone soon but he should know his contract will be incredibly hard to move, much harder than Ben Simmons.  Ben basically told Philly he won't play for them either, russ ain't doing that.  So it could be as much as he just wants to move.

Yes, there is a high chance that it was just all a coincidence and Westbrook selling his house is not a sign or somehow connected to his current situation in LA Lakers. Ben Simmons is different because he already decided that he won't play for the Sixers anymore, that's why he sold his house at Philly.

I think we are just overreacting on some things regarding with Westbrook's situation because as of this moment, it seems to me that Westbrook will finish his contract playing for the Lakers.

You could be right that we are over reacting, or it could be true in the end, and there is nothing coincidence as this is a sign that he want his property to be sold and just have one houses in California and that is the place where he grow up.

Regardless, only time can give us the answers. We are almost at the start of the season now, and no team is willing top pick up Russ huge contract so he will be be playing for the Lakers this season.
