Economy / Speculation / Re: opinions on downward trend

I dont believe there's a downward trend. Bitcoin is inside both a bearish channel and a bullish channel, so it will be swinging up and down. This can be good for trading alts, if they follow a opposite pattern.
Seems that sgbett was right, after all. Bitcoin will be swinging between 12k and 16k. That is, until LN is implemented.
I dont plan to use LN myself, but if this unclog the network, mining fees can go back to 100k satoshis per kb, which will be good for those who plan to move his bitcoins to a new wallet (to claim forked coins, which will be by the hundreds in some months).

Pela matéria, parece ser de comum acordo que o Brasil tornará o comércio de criptos ilegal.
Qual é a posição das exchanges brasileiras a respeito disso? Vão acatar com a decisão estatal, ou vão hospedar seus sites em outro país?

I'm starting to believe this is the year of the altcoins, in the same way as last year was the year of bitcoin.
We can use this to increase our bitcoin stashes, trading altcoins in sites like Bittrex. If the price of bitcoin stays stable at 13-15k range, it will be possible to do that.
Maybe they can alternate from year to year. One year for bitcoin, another for altcoins. It would be a win-win scenario, you could increase your bitcoin stash and in another year, the price of bitcoin would skyrocket.

226 bytes x 470 bytes / 100.000.000 x 14400$ = 15.29$.
And that's for the fastest type of transaction.
At 130 sat/byte you get a confirmation in ~3-4 hours and the fee is 4.2$.
Someone is miscalculating your fees, or you have a lot of dust amounts.
Do you have to assign a segwit address to get those fees? Last time I sent from my QT wallet, I paid 0.00179btc for moving 0.18btc. By the current price this is 26$. It was a standard 6-block confirmation fee.

WTF, somebody is crazy here. Is it me, or you, or them? You just can´t let that standing here, and walk away. Guess, "luckygenough56" has a serious problem there. But could be his own, ahem, stupidity ? I mean, as a last resort Its 378k sats per kb to send a transaction. The transaction fees are extremely high. In some cases, they are more expensive than a international wire transfer.

Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin, the big short is already here and it could get far worse

To be a "big short", bitcoin should have few people interested on it.
On the contrary, the demand is growing higher, specially on asian countries. In South Korea it is 17k dollars each.
Its not the same case with real estate, which nobody can buy because it is expensive, and cant be bought in fractions.
Also, the cheap altcoins are bought through bitcoins, so even if people dont want it, and prefer a cheap altcoin, they still need to go through bitcoins.

There will be a solution to the scaling issue. I don't think it's going to be lightning network OR a blocksize increase. It will be using a new algorithm and turning the chain into a tree/sharding. There will be something. I dont care if I have to code it myself. It's not like we're locked into this crappiness.
Hashgraph? YouTube bot is always indicating videos about it to me, but I never care to watch some.

They are shaking the market first, to buy cheap coins.
Most sheeple can be broken with fear, or so they thought.
After that, they will pump it, to tempt the hard hodlers to sell.
