Economy / Speculation / Re: Why i think the CME listing Bitcoin Futures is actually a bad thing!

They still have to first buy into bitcoin in order to crash the price = bullish!
They are already buying. Why do you think theres no correction right now? Its only green candles, they are buying all orders up. People should stop selling for a while, decrease the volume on the exchanges. There should be some way to protect against what they are planning to do.

Economy / Speculation / Re: why CBOE and CME futures trading may LOWER / SLOW the price of bitcoin.

Dude, CME and CBOE are implementing the exact same methodology as gold futures. The paper contracts are settled in cash. Next to no BTC is involved. Its a moot point.
any trader anywhere can immediately and instantly take delivery of their bitcoin wherever they are in the world 24/7. they'll know it's real, it can be verified, no one can take it off them, it can't be faked. no gold trader has ever had that option anywhere ever. it's impossible to achieve. they've always had nothing but promises and may never have touched or seen any real gold in a lifetime of trading it. this was long before stuff like gold etfs arrived. it's always been that way. that makes it a totally different proposition. i don't think enough wall street guys realise this. they might think it's just another thing you can use to pull the wool over everyone's eyes. it's pretty much the first and only thing that doesn't allow that which is why it's such a big deal. True. But I'm still worried if they dont have any new trick to play with. And if they had actually bought bitcoin and are being responsible for the current pump? There's no correction, its only rising and rising. They can just dump it, as any whale can, except that they have 100x more money than any whale.

The only way they can affect the price is if the hedge funds buy bitcoins themselves and dump it when gambling for low prices in futures. But then theres the whales, and most whales are holders, and some of them just hate the centralized financial system.
I'm pretty sure that they're accumulating bitcoins for that purpose. And the hedge funds are bigger than any bitcoin whale -they're bigger than the Winklevoss brothers. How much time do you think it will take for them to just destroy it? The community is not reacting to it, instead it rejoices on ATHs and is not paying attention to the fact we dont have any correction anymore.

The problem is not about price speculation up or down with futures, it's about what futures represent in face of the crypto community, these people are not friends of crypto and the problem at hand is that emotion based manipulation will exhaust the community, this is a psychological operation intended to strike at the weakpoint of the link/blockchain; the human factor, which is easily corruptible given enough time and energy. The entire bogus Bitcoincash circus could have been a test to measure crowd psychology and look for weakpoints and exploit them, it was a highly coordinated maneuver, many of these industry guys are also military background/connections.
Interesting points. But what about tether? Tether was not created by the US government, but by Ifinex. And if Bitfinex banned US from their portfolio just to avoid this scrutiny? CME is in the US. Can they manipulate the price on other countries? And the bitcoin exchanges from other countries, how they will be scrutinized? They will need to pass some regulations in the UN, and expand futures to other countries as well. This will take time.

Economy / Speculation / Pumps from hedge funds, are they really dangerous?
|
on: December 05, 2017, 01:38:40 PM
|
I'm trying to buy bitcoin for four weeks now.
My fibo retracements are failing every time. My orders just sit there. The price keeps rising, theres no real dip.
Who do you think is pumping it? I think it is the hedge funds who are going to play with CME futures. They are coming with billions of dollars.
If they dump it in a short gambling, what do you think would be the extent of damage? How much would it fall? We cant use TA here, because it is clear human manipulation.
Do you think it is dangerous to buy bitcoin right now?

The mint certificates, the ETFs, and the coins in an investor’s safe – all of them – are valued, at least in large part, based on the most recent trade in the nearest delivery month on a futures exchange such as the COMEX. These “spot” prices are the ones scrolling across the bottom of your CNBC screen.
CNBC screen, not your bitcoin exchange screen. This will only affect the price if they incorporate all bitcoin exchanges in their casinos. Every country that have a (physical) gold exchange have it annexed and controlled by its stock exchange, which in turn is controlled by the State and hence is centralized. From there they have ETFs and futures. Gold is not a decentralized trading system as bitcoin is, that is the reason why the price is always kept down. You dont have a independent gold exchange, as we have with bitcoin. The only way they can affect the price is if the hedge funds buy bitcoins themselves and dump it when gambling for low prices in futures. But then theres the whales, and most whales are holders, and some of them just hate the centralized financial system.

Clearly. It is breaking all TA charts, its just amazing.
We cant speak of pre-10k prices anymore. I know, some of us want it to buy more, but we have to content ourselves with a 10k floor now. It is possible, it is forming already. When CME kicks in, this will be the dip.

bands are going crazy lately what the hell this thing is getting too wild... is anyone expecting another correction soon? Look at these candles, the whales dump and the sharks pump. Very wild. I was expecting a correction, but there will be no one. There will be those massive candles instead, swings of four digits all around, and some people will think it was a too fast dip.

The floor is still in 7k. Why? Because there was no red candles, or only a few of them.
People will want to take profits, and naturally the price will fall.
This run was too much parabolic, and too fast. Get used to it. Institutional investors are putting money on it right now. We will see swings with four digits.
Its frightening. Just hodl it.
