3581  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Jake Paul vs Ben Askren on April 17 on: January 29, 2021, 01:33:26 PM
Michael Bisping could easily defeat Jake Paul but he is having a problem with the eye sight and it is not a secret anymore and the opponents can come up with a game plan that could hit him around his weaker eye. Jake Paul and Logan Paul made a career with social media presence and his brother became notorious when he posted the video of a dead body and i wont be surprised if they are crazy in real life as well Grin

Yeah, but hes also fought before with that eye, or lack  of eye if you will. Bisping is a machine, and I love the guy. He's probably one of my all time favorite MMA fighters, and hes not a bad commentator either. I do think Bisping would have pieced him up, but I'm not as confident that Ben will. Its a boxing match, and its slightly different to what Ben is used too. Ben, is a wrestler by heart, and unless he can significantly improve his stand up game, I  feel this could be a landslide, with Ben just getting punished.

I don't think Jake is going to KO Ben though. Jake has only fought celebrities before, and I think he thinks its going to be just as easy to knock out a pro.

As for Logan, he at least seems to have made up for his mistake. I don't really believe in branding someone as something when they've only made a mistake. He was a young kid, and doesn't pull the same acts as he used too, so I'm willing to forgive that. Obviously, the family of the man, and those that saw it can have different opinions, but I think he's largely won his reputation back.
3582  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: January 29, 2021, 01:24:55 PM
I'm gong for Sandhagen I think in the co main event. I just love watching him fight, he always brings something to the table, and think he'll be too much for Edgar. I'm undecided on the rest of the fights at the moment, but I'm thinking that Volkov could just edge this fight if he stays out of trouble, and avoid those power shots which I do believe he's more than capable of doing.

The next coming months we've got some top fights though, 2021 is absolutely stacked in terms of main events, as long as none of cancelled of course.
3583  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Elon Musk adds #Bitcoin to his Twitter bio on: January 29, 2021, 01:17:16 PM
As the saying goes, correlation does not equal causation. Although, undoubtedly Elon musk putting that hashtag inside his bio likely had a positive contribution to the adoption of Bitcoin, and certain people would be more inclined the look at Bitcoin favorably, it likely didn't have enough of an impact to impact the market. Of course, some people who see someone like Musk who's probably viewed as a genius, and pioneer by many are more likely to believe in a technology that he appears to support. Although, these will likely be fans, and general users rather than the big cash cows that it requires to be able to manipulate a market.

Having said this the longer he keeps it up, and the more people that see it, can only do good things for Bitcoin's adoption. Honestly, its nice seeing someone like Elon, actively pushing Bitcoin in front of the masses, in a more positive light than the news usually does.

3584  Other / Meta / Re: How to secure a bitcointalk account from the hands of the bad guys who are not r on: January 29, 2021, 01:47:46 AM
You will need to direct your friend to this thread here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5089777.0

If your friend cannot provide the evidence that is required in that thread, the chance of recovering the account is significantly reduced, or completely squashed. If your friend does have the evidence, then they can send it to the email, and hopefully recover the account.

If you are asking about how to secure your own account from theft, then the advice would be the same as any other online account. Use secure passwords, which have multiple characters, and includes special characters. Do not, click on links that you don't trust, and don't download software which you do not trust. Do not share your account credentials with anyone.

Those are the basics, but they should serve you well. Its probably worth checking whether your email account has the same security protocols as above, and you don't use the same passwords across the sites.
3585  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How did you meet Crypto Currencies? on: January 29, 2021, 01:43:33 AM
Yes, most people that get involved with Bitcoin are looking for ways to make money online. This is backed up by the fact that many people seem to be moving to altcoins, because of the potential profit there is to be had, over, and over on the numerous coins being released on a weekly basis.

However, why people get into Bitcoin specifically might differ from person to person. Bitcoin, is likely one of the first cryptocurrencies that you are likely to come across, and thus some people will pick Bitcoin, and stick with Bitcoin solely for that reason. Secondly, it could be because Bitcoin offers the support, and documentation, which is hard to find with newer altcoins, and means that the accessibility of those aren't as good as Bitcoin. Finally, Bitcoin could well be the most popular because its one of the few that actually has some sort of merit behind it. It was not made, to pump, and dump like many of the altcoins today, there was no selfish motive that fueled its design, and its the original idea that sparked, what hopefully in a few years we'll be describing as a revolution.
3586  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Jake Paul vs Ben Askren on April 17 on: January 29, 2021, 01:32:59 AM
I heard there was multiple people that were offered money to fight Jake Paul. Bisping said on a podcast that he was offered a contract, and countered the offer for more, and never heard back. That's a fight I can get behind, just because I believe Jake Paul really needs a reality check. Although, I'm not sure how much of his personality is for the cameras, but it seems that a lot of people within that space has claimed he's also very much the same off camera.

Ben, although a ufc fighter he was predominately known for his wrestling, and was probably considered one of the worst strikers. I would probably say many fans of the sport considered him to be one of the worst of the UFC period. Although, hes a tough guy so he can definitely take a punch. I'm just hoping he can beat Paul here, and hopefully in a fairly dominant manner.

This is absolutely brilliant by Jake Paul though, calls out everyone, and their mother, and then picks one of the weaker opponents in Ben. If Jake wins he's now known for the Youtuber who beat a professional MMA fighter. If he loses, he'll be given some leeway due to Ben being a professional fighter. Its a masterclass by Paul, and his team.
3587  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: January 29, 2021, 01:26:55 AM
Personally, I don't want the trilogy just yet. I want to see Conor earn that right by taking out another top fighter within the division. There are far too many talanted fighters within the division to simply focus on the two. Conor had his chance to introduce himself once more, but he didn't take it. Poirier did. I also think it makes sense for Dana to try, and get Conor to fight as many fights as possible. After all, win or lose Conor brings fans from all walks of life, something that many fighters cannot do.

Justin vs Poirer?
Conor vs Justin?

I think Justin has to be within a shout with either one of them. I think it makes sense for Conor to fight him, and then Poirier, and the winner of the bout for the title.
3588  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What is Bitcoin's twitter account? on: January 27, 2021, 10:41:59 PM
Most likely Satoshi didn't think of owning a Twitter account at that time. After all, he just wanted to start the foundation and just leave. Whoever that managed to secure those handles are happily raking in so much money now though.
Satoshi's vision was exactly that though, not to have a centralized authority that "owns" Bitcoin. However, there are a number of related social medias that could come across as "official" to new users, and they absolutely could misrepresent the "brand". I don't think this is happening at the moment, but I don't tend to use Twitter, and related platforms. I'm pretty sure that one of the Bitcoin handles is either confirmed, or heavily believed to be controlled by Ver though.
3589  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: January 27, 2021, 10:35:04 PM
I had a prediction nightmare last weekend. I'm actually gutted for Conor, but Poirier absolutely deserved it, for the progress hes made in the fighting game the last few years. Questions remain over whether Conor will keep his word, and continue to fight inside the UFC, and whether or not he still has what it takes. Honestly, Conor looked somewhat decent up until the point he was cuddling with the floor. I thought he was outstriking, and dealt pretty well with the takedown of Poirier.
3590  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: January 23, 2021, 06:46:01 PM
I've gone for a cheeky bet on Mcgregor to get a TKO inside the 4th or 5th round. No matter what happens, I only hope that its an actual fight, and doesn't end like it did last time. I want to see a few rounds of these boys going at each other, to get a good idea on the skill set difference. Plus, waiting until 0500, and seeing an instant knockout has got to be one of the most frustrating things.
3591  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: January 22, 2021, 11:03:55 PM
Nothing stood out to me in the weigh ins, except both fighters are looking ready. Honestly, if I were to bet on it this fight probably does end via a TKO. Just because of the energy coming into this fight, Conor has a lot to prove after some justified criticism, and Poirier will be looking to make up for last time against Conor. Conor doesn't usually play a slow fight, and Poirier with something to prove sticks out to me as a potential open fight, which will lead to one of the boys getting knocked out.

I'm still sticking with chandler against Hooker, but I'll change to a decision rather than a TKO. I'm also changing to a Conor TKO, just because of the mentioned energy coming into the fight from both sides.
3592  Other / Meta / Re: How about locking some ANN threads that are from proven scammers? on: January 22, 2021, 07:39:49 PM
Aside from the forums policy on moderating scams, if users aren't taking the warning signs above the thread, which are quite hard to miss, then they aren't likely going to benefit from a locked thread. Unless, they tried to post in the discussion, but judging by the examples provided there hasn't been much discussion from newbies within the threads recently. Instead, the discussion of both examples seem to be centered around the legitimacy of the project which in combination with the red banner probably is much better than locking a thread, and not giving them a chance to ask questions, and determine whether the banner above the thread holds any weight.

I hate to use the cliche statement, but I believe prevention (via the warning), is better than the cure (outright censoring a thread, which could prove detrimental, since a user cannot ask questions).
3593  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The UFC Info and Prediction Thread on: January 22, 2021, 07:27:58 PM
I haven't seen the weigh ins yet, but I think Connor might prove that his cardio has got better. This has always been a criticism of his, and arguably you could say that's why he lost against Mayweather, and he wants to fight Pac which is going to take some cardio to even compete. I know that Connor has been pushing a fitness app recently, surely he can't show the same fitness issues while pushing this app out there?

That being said I'm not even sure this is going to reach the later rounds. Conor knocked out Poirier very quickly last time out, but Poirier has looked like a stronger fighter ever since, and looks like the real business. Although, you just can't count Conor out. He's just an incredible athlete.

Here's my predictions pending changes, depending on anything stand out ish that happened during the weigh ins. I usually tend to look out for signals of a bad cut rather than anything like not looking in the zone etc. Weigh ins don't usually overly influence my predictions though.

Albazi (Decision)
Evloev (Decision)
Rountree (TKO/KO)
Antonio Carlos Junior (Decision)
Pena (Decision)
Tsarukyan (Decision)
Ribas (Decision)
Muradov
Calderwood (Decision)
Chandler (TKO/KO)
Mcgregor (Decision)

I can't see a lot of upsets going on this weekend, but I might be wrong. I've got Mcgregor by decision, but its entirely possible this ends in the first couple of rounds. However, I kind of want to see these two put a show on, considering I'm going to be staying up to watch it. I think we'll see Poirier being a little more cautious against Mcgregor this time out.

The pressure on this fight to end in a "spectacular" way is massive though, and I'm not sure if we are going to see Conor go in all guns blazing, gas out, and then get caught. I hope not, as there's definitely a story arc to him winning.
3594  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Withdrawal fees - from exchange to blockfi wallet on: January 22, 2021, 01:26:22 AM
If its fees you're worried about then you could consider looking into Peer To Peer (P2P) exchanges, where you cut out the middleman per say, and exchange with another user. Obviously, there are risks that are associated with this route, and you might prefer trading on a more "trustworthy" exchange that's automatic, and the same every time.

However, I would like to point out that some exchanges do not have a set fee. I believe standard Coinbase (unsure about pro) charges based on the amount being transacted, and isn't a set fee.
3595  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Which Companies Use Symbols Similar to That of Bitcoin? on: January 22, 2021, 01:21:37 AM
I would expect that there's far too many companies using similar logos, just because its very easy to confuse it with currency symbols from various different countries. This subconsciously suggests that you'll earn money, or the brand is particularly prestigious. Although, I must say there's a tonne of Bitcoin companies which incorporate similar looking designs if not the currency symbol itself. Watching the English football leagues you'll see there's quite a few different companies sponsoring various different teams within the pyramid.
3596  Economy / Speculation / Re: FUDS are big Confirmations that were in a Bull Market!!!!!! on: January 22, 2021, 01:16:32 AM
Regardless, of how Bitcoin is doing, or what perceived state its in there will always be FUD. This has been proven time, and time again over the years. Whenever Bitcoin jumps in price there's news reports on how the bubble will burst soon, and when Bitcoin is at its lowest struggling, its "Dying". We have to face it, that no matter how well Bitcoin is doing, or badly there will always be a motive for spreading misinformation. That is exactly the reason why you shouldn't take any notice, and especially shouldn't invest based on the amount of FUD being spread.
3597  Other / Meta / Re: Three millionth account registered on: January 22, 2021, 01:12:34 AM
This is crazy and at this pace we are going to hit 4 million soon, most of this new accounts will be bots and maybe we need to add more protection at registration with some extra steps.
Maybe we can't stop them but we can slow them down.
In these instances its not possible to stop bots from registering without it having a negative effect on legitimate new users, so to be able to slow down attacks we would need to come up with a solution which addresses the issue at hand, while also not effecting normal usage. A quick brain storm probably brings up a sort of "quiz" which has randomly generated questions, and in a randomized order. This could serve as a way of a "tutorial" to using Bitcointalk, very much like the newbie welcome messages that's been mentioned in the past. However, this would likely still be too intrusive, versus its effectiveness.

We can't expect people to revise to enter the forum, at the same time we can't expect new users to be familiar with the forum software or Bitcoin. The latter especially, since that's probably the reason they're registering in the first place.
3598  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: BTC not received. First time user. on: January 22, 2021, 12:58:08 AM
The way you phrase it, makes me think you've sent this to an address which you don't control, and the person that does is claiming it hasn't been received. If you can double check the address, and as long as its correct then you can be certain that it has indeed been received.

Otherwise, its almost certain a syncing issue if the address is correct. Depending on the wallet software of this address, it can be solved fairly easy by importing into a lightweight client (such as where you sent it from Electrum)
3599  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How to create paper wallet generator for alt coin? on: January 21, 2021, 06:31:10 PM
A paper wallet can be created simply by running the wallet software on a offline computer, and then transferring the credentials to paper by hand. Then, making sure that you verify those credentials to be sure that they've been copied correctly.

You don't need fancy software dedicated to creating a paper wallet. A paper wallet simply means creating a physical copy, usually using paper hence the name.

^  It was fight if the night.  And yeah..  I was rooting for him too.  He’s Welsh in case you didn’t know.
Yeah I did indeed know that. Generally, its a good indicator if someone has the last name "Jones" Tongue. I'm rally excited for his future though, he's only going to grow, and learn from these experience, and honestly I'm kind of glad he's removed that 0 losses from his record, because now he can focus on training, and not worrying about losing it. Mason will be rise up the occasion no matter the opponent, at least that's what I think.

Anyhow, I'm going to watch a few more past fights for some of the lesser knowns on the up, and coming card, and I can chuck my predictions out there again if anyone wants too.

I wasn't a million miles away last time, and chucking an accumulator (parlay) on the fights always spices things up.
