1481  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Do not panic. Everything will get better on: June 30, 2022, 06:10:45 AM
I totally agree that things will go back to normal. Feeling a bit of fear is perfectly normal when your investing but feeding the fear and ruminating on it is not helping your mind or your wallet.

I recommend just trying your best to stay calm, exercise more and find your inner confidence that things will turn around eventually. Personally, I don’t even look at my wallet anymore because right now it’s a bit of a waiting game until the markets level out.
1482  Other / Off-topic / Re: Any poker lovers? on: June 24, 2022, 08:17:30 AM
I have been playing online poker for many years now. In the past, I’ve made some good money and I used to get a real thrill from the game but less and less these days.
The reality is, the older I get I’ve just come to the realization that I can’t win because there are professionals playing and it’s not an even playing field. For example, it’s kind of like if I jumped into a professional basketball game.
Sure the rules are the same but I’m playing against people over a foot taller than I am. At the end of the day, I like a fair game too much and I don’t feel it’s an even playing field anymore.
1483  Other / Off-topic / Re: Weed Smokers and Covid on: June 24, 2022, 07:49:42 AM
I think smoking weed can have many negative consequences. During the Covid pandemic I was offered some but there’s a reason it’s still illegal all over the world. My concerns with using any substance like weed is what’s the cost/ benefit breakdown?
For me, my goals of reaching financial independence and starting a business are a much higher priority than the short term pleasure derived from using it. I understand the argument many people give when they say they don’t see any negative consequences but in my opinion many of them are in a bit of denial. On the other hand, I don’t judge anyone who uses it because it’s everyone’s right to choose their goals and rank their priorities.
1484  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will LUNA's downfall scare away investors from the crypto market? on: June 22, 2022, 10:10:33 AM
I absolutely think that Luna’s downfall has scared off both retail and institutional investment into the crypto market. I think the collapse was probably due to whales dumping tokens and leaving retail traders like me with their ass hanging in the wind.

Personally my portfolio is still heavily weighted in BTC and a bit of Doge so I think over the long term I’ll be fine. Certainly coins that were tied to Fiat weren’t as negatively affected by the volatility. At bottom, my assumption is that many traders lost confidence and may still be hesitant to get back into the market after what happened.
1485  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Sending in fake ID for KYC on: June 19, 2022, 06:45:16 AM
I have always used my honest KYC for buying on crypto exchanges. Personally, it’s more about the security concerns I have and not wanting to lose my money.

I like to play by the rules with ID so I don’t mind the lack of anonymity. On the other hand, I have to say KYC goes against many of the early arguments I heard for getting into crypto in the first place.

When I started really falling in love with bitcoin one of the things I liked was the lack of government oversight. It appealed to me that we could have a system outside of traditional regulations.

I suppose it was only a matter of time that we all just started accepting that oversight was an evitable outcome but it does have an extra layer of security that makes me feel my portfolio is secure.
1486  Other / Serious discussion / Re: How did you do last year? on: June 19, 2022, 06:27:30 AM
To be honest, I wouldn’t say 2021 was the best of years for me but it turned out alright. I caught a mild case of Covid and I’m certainly thankful it wasn’t worse.
I also had a friend that caught Covid really bad and that gave me a real scare but thank goodness they turned out OK. Thankfully no one in my immediate circle lost their life to the disease and that is something to be grateful for.
I do have to say though that 2022 is already looking a bit brighter. I’m looking at moving to a new apartment in a better part of town and that is huge for me. I’m also starting a new job in August and I’m hoping that will be a pleasant change. Things are definitely on the up and up.
1487  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How long do you think the market will take to recover? on: June 19, 2022, 05:59:10 AM
It’s difficult to predict how long the recovery for the market will take because it’s clearly affected by the state of the global economy. I think there is some clear evidence that we’re heading into a possible recession and that may take two quarters to get through.

The American Federal reserve interest rate hike is probably an attempt to bring down inflation and I’m curious if they can successfully avoid a full blown recession. I suspect it’s going to take time to see the results of the hike and see where we land.

My advice to anyone like me who is heavily invested in crypto and the stock market is to stay put and think long. We’ve seen many crashes like this before, this is just part one of the parts of investing as the market historically has always recovered eventually.

1489  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: I stake most of my USDT, it is better to leave it as USDT or change it to USDC ? on: June 19, 2022, 05:46:13 AM
I’ve been staking USDT for a little while now and I have to say I am pretty happy with the results. A friend of mine got me into staking my crypto for passive income and I see it getting more and more popular as a way to make profits now.

I think tether is a pretty solid option for stakers because it’s liquidity makes it easy to trade in and out of positions. I’ve never staked USDC and I don’t know if I would want to risk it since USDT has been working pretty well for me at the moment.

My friend told me that USDT is the best staking crypto for mining pools and you get the best value so why change it up now. I only follow advice from people I respect and my friends has been doing real well so I continue to take his advice and it’s been working.
1490  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin and Crypto Winter on: June 16, 2022, 07:33:46 AM
I don’t believe this is a ‘crypto winter’ but maybe that’s because I was expecting this type of crash. This kind of correction is very cyclical for Bitcoin. If you follow BTC on a long enough timeline you can see the patterns and it always rebounds.
I certainly don’t plan to sell any of my bitcoin. I see this correction as a setback and not a reflection of the utility of the technology. Bitcoin is here to stay but this correction is clearly a sign the global economy is in shambles.
How could the negative impacts of a recession not affect Bitcoins price? Just be patient and wait till the economy picks back up and I’m fairly confident the price of Bitcoin will rebound and then start reaching new highs.
1491  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Don't sell your precious BTC to the whales! on: June 16, 2022, 06:30:13 AM
I must admit it has crossed my mind to sell off just a little bit of my BTC in case the global economy crashes even lower. However, I don’t wanna have weak hands. There’s no point in selling cheap to whales waiting to gobble them up.

I’m lucky that I’m not reliant on my portfolio for my daily expenditures. If I had to worry about putting food on the table then I might make a different choice. But for me I’m a long hold on bitcoin. I really believe in the technology and the value that it brings.

When you really believe in something you can see it through the dark times and find the light at the end of the tunnel. Bitcoin will rebound and reach new heights it just may take a bit of time for the economy to recover before it gets there.
1492  Economy / Speculation / Re: $13,000 is quite possible this week on: June 16, 2022, 05:07:31 AM
I really hope that bitcoin does not drop anywhere near 13K. However, after the government's massive overspending during the pandemic and the war in Ukraine still going nothing would surprise me.

If bitcoin did make a correction below 13K, I will 100% be buying quite a bit more. I’m bullish on BTC and I know what an integral role the Blockchain will play in the financial architecture of the future.

I have no doubt that BTC will make huge gains in the near future and I’m confident in my position, it’s just hard to say how bad the global economy will crash in 2022.
1493  Other / Off-topic / Re: Where is this Crash heading too? on: June 16, 2022, 04:57:16 AM
It’s hard to tell how long and bad this correction will be. Personally, I didn’t think bitcoin would go below 30K during this recession. Clearly I was wrong but now my assumption is that it’s highly unlikely it will go below 20K.

In my opinion, bitcoin is not going anywhere and it’s only a matter of time until it’s back at new historic all time highs. When you’ve seen enough of these corrections over the years, you’re not as affected emotionally and can stay rational.

At the end of the day I’m still bullish on bitcoin. I'm still a long hold on BTC and until the economy levels out and the war in Ukraine is resolved it’s difficult to say when we’ll see Crpto making big gains.
1494  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC price suddenly dropped from $ 31K on: June 11, 2022, 07:37:34 AM
I’ve been watching Bitcoin fluctuate between 29K to 31K but I haven’t seen it hit anything higher in a while.

In my opinion, this is a good buying opportunity if you have extra fiat because I’ve seen this is pretty standard correction.

I’m waiting for BTC to 35k or possibly 40k before I feel things are more normal. I predict after that we’ll see start seeing bigger and bigger gains and huge adoption globally.

We’re heading into a recession but I think it’s very realistic to look at 65K coming around the corner as people look for a way to hedge against inflation.
1495  Other / Off-topic / Re: What is the last movie you watched? on: June 11, 2022, 07:04:00 AM
I just streamed ‘The Courier’ 2020 with Benedict Cumberbatch last night. It was a pretty fun, entertaining historical spy film. It takes place during the Cuban missile crisis and it centers around the relationship between a British salesman and a Soviet Officer.
The film is based off some pretty amazing, hard to believe true events. The film did a great job balancing between suspense and comedy. Personally, I enjoy Cumberbatch in almost everything he’s in, so especially if you’re a fan I highly recommend checking this one out.
1496  Other / Off-topic / Re: Your favourite PC games? on: June 11, 2022, 06:26:31 AM
I’m a huge fan of Resident Evil 4, I’ve been playing it for while now. I really dig the survival, horror theme. You get into a lot of solid shoot outs and there’s some good action in there.

They put a lot of attention to detail in it. Like when you hit someone and shoot them in the arm they actually drop their weapon which I think is pretty cool. It also just feels more interactive and like a fleshed out world. I like that you can do more things like jumping out windows.

I think it’s a solid game and definitely one of my favorites. The story is good too, you’re on this mission to rescue someone. Definitely recommend RE4 for sure.
1497  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How do you spread BTC to people within you on: June 08, 2022, 08:27:55 AM
I recently attended a Friday afterwork function and hung out with some of my colleagues. I don’t normally hang out with most of them and the topic of Bitcoin came up.
Most of them had very little understanding of all the positive benefits of crypto currency and blockchain technology in general.
They asked a lot of questions and I was a bit surprised how well I could go into the details. I’ve been into crypto for so long and I used to be much worse and educating others about it.
You can always tell when people get it from their questions and the way they listen. I’m always very happy to help others when it’s truly appreciated.

1500  Other / Serious discussion / Re: What has football taught you ? on: June 01, 2022, 07:20:21 AM
I think playing football has taught me so many valuable skills and contributed greatly to my success today. I started playing recreationally around 10 years old and played for many years.
Being on a team and aligning on a goal is such a great skill that has translated to everyone of my work projects as an adult. Playing football also taught me a lot of discipline because when you’re young it comes easy but to stay competitive you have to continue to refine your skills.
Having the discipline to continue to improve, even when you don’t feel like it, is something that I carry with me into everything I do today.
