1541  Other / Off-topic / Re: Thor : Love And Thunder on: April 24, 2022, 07:05:39 AM
Personally, I love the Thor movies and I definitely will see Thor: Love and Thunder. Chris Hemsworth is amazing in the role, I think he nails it everytime. I also heard they brought back Natalie Portman and I think it added a lot having her in the first one. Jane Foster brought a lot of humanity to the story and I think she helps balance out the dynamics a bit because Thor is so all powerful. My favorite Thor scene has to be him getting depressed and gaining weight in Endgame. I laughed so hard when I saw that one, I just was not expecting them to go there. I also heard Christian Bale is in this one and he is an amazing actor. I didn't realize it but I guess I really am looking forward to this one.
1542  Other / Off-topic / Re: What was the best memory of your childhood ? on: April 24, 2022, 06:42:50 AM
My best memories of childhood usually revolve around the old house I grew up in with my family. I think my most significant memories involve playing with my dog as a small child. We had a maltese named snowy and that dog was so affectionate and loving.
He would just spend hours hanging out with me. I loved spending time with him on the floor in the living room. Whenever I think of that house I remember we had a lot of banana yellow decor. I wonder if my mother was a fan of it or if it just came with the house when my folks bought it?
I think that color will always have positive associations for me.
1543  Other / Off-topic / Re: Which sport interests you!!! on: April 22, 2022, 06:37:36 AM
My favourite sport has got to be swimming. If I think about it, I love water sports and always have. When I was young, I could spend hours in the summer just jumping in and out of the water. Today it’s my main workout and supports my physical, emotional and mental health.

If I don't swim a couple times a week, I usually just feel off. Swimming also indirectly really helps my productivity at work. It’s a great way for me to keep my energy up and my mind shar. Also, it definitely helps with emotional stability when dealing with some of the workplace drama around me.
1544  Economy / Economics / Re: Elon Musk makes offer to buy Twitter on: April 22, 2022, 06:14:39 AM
I think it’s fantastic news that Elon Musk made an offer to buy Twitter. Social Media has proved quite dangerous to our democracy, psychological health and social cohesion this past decade. I think some of the root causes are centered around there being far too few social media companies in the market and not enough healthy competition. Furthermore, these companies are all being guided solely by free market capitalism. The incentives are just too great under business obsessed management, concerned only with the bottom line, to take into account the negative consequences of their actions. I think Elon’s plan to take Twitter private is the best way to bring some remnant of ethical consideration to the business without having to deal with stakeholder pressure or answer to government regulators.
1545  Other / Off-topic / Re: What is the best movie you have ever watched ? on: April 22, 2022, 05:31:01 AM
My favorite all time movie has to be Casablanca (1942) with Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman. It's a classic for a reason, the movie has it all, drama, love, even a hint of danger. The acting is amazing, I love the old Hollywood power actors like Bogart because he was a true star.

The actors in this one just hold the screen in a way few actors do today. I have nothing against modern films, I watch a lot of Netflix too but the classics are hard to beat. I've heard from some people that the story doesn't hold up as well today but don't listen to the haters.

Sure there are deeper movies, maybe more intelligent films but I don't think you're going to find a film as magical as this one. At bottom, a movie is really about entertainment and watching this film is always a treat.
1546  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How weird is it to borrow money and invest into Bitcoin? on: April 16, 2022, 11:05:42 AM
I am not in favor of borrowing money to invest in Bitcoin. I think it’s weird to invest other peoples money because of risk. If you’re looking to buy your first home, I can possibly understand borrowing some money from friends and/or family because it’s a physical asset.
At worst case if a serious recession occurs at least you have a shot of holding on to the home and living in it. Personally, I do think Bitcoin is a great investment opportunity, especially for the long hold but not with other people's money.
1547  Other / Off-topic / Re: What is the last movie you watched? on: April 16, 2022, 10:55:48 AM
I just caught ‘Jackass Forever’ (2022) and I liked it a lot. I grew up watching those guys make total idiots of themselves so I had to catch this one. It has a lot of the original cast like Johnny Knoxville, Steve-O and many of the originals.
It was a little strange they got kind of old but it’s fine, we all get old eventually right? I mean they’re still hilarious and they clearly love making each other look like morons. I recommend just coming in to laugh and not being too critical because it’s meant to be fun.
I think I just needed a good laugh after this past tough week and it delivered the goods.
1548  Other / Off-topic / Re: Suggest you favourite anime on: April 16, 2022, 10:48:39 AM
I love anime and there are so many great ones. One of my favorites may have to be ‘Serial Experiments Lain’ (1998). It’s more my style because it’s a bit more intellectual and makes you think afterwards.
It has a cyber punk thriller theme that really kept me engrossed and I’ve gone back to see it again a few times over the years and it’s still amazing after all these years. If you’re looking for a newer one I would check out Mob Psycho 100 (2016).
That is an awesome series, it’s about a psychic and it’s kind of coming of age story from what we remember but it has some trippy visuals. Lot of really interesting colorful art and the action sequences blew me away.
1549  Economy / Economics / Re: Gold , Silver Or Crypto? on: April 13, 2022, 06:14:18 AM
I have also had people try to convince me to buy gold and silver. Historically, comedies like gold and silver were great ways to store value during times of inflation. However, I believe Bitcoin is a better investment right now for several reasons.
First, BTC has way more growth potential, especially if you are planning to hold long. Furthermore, it is highly likely that BTC will break 100k in 2022 and that would be over 100 percent ROI in 2022 alone.
Second, silver is not really limited in its supply, this year alone 784 million ounces of silver were mined globally.
Lastly, gold has already been booming in 2022 meaning that its due for a correction soon, I could not recommend investing when it's presently overvalued.

1551  Other / Off-topic / Re: Jake Paul vs Conor McGregor on: April 10, 2022, 06:28:59 AM
I absolutely think Jake Paul should fight Conor McGregor. I enjoy watching Conor McGregor in the UFC. I suspect he’s definitely not the same fighter he once was after the leg injury. I’m sure he would be open to coming out of retirement for enough money.
How many times has McGregor claimed to have retired from the UFC? At bottom, I’m sure millions of millions of people around the world would tune in to McGregor knock the hell out of Jake Paul. It would definitely be one of those have to watch fights if it did happen.
1552  Other / Off-topic / Re: Getting rid of ants on: April 10, 2022, 05:56:30 AM
Ants can really be a serious problem. One time my sister had an ant infestation and it got seriously out of hand. The ants must have built their colony in the walls of her old house because it seriously looked like thousands and thousands of them were living in the house.
I hear they like warm and moist spaces and that’s why they are attracted to the walls. Eventually she had to hire a specialist to apply professional grade insecticide to make sure they didn’t come back.

1553  Economy / Economics / Re: When Will This War End? on: April 04, 2022, 06:08:22 AM
This war is just terribly depressing and I hope it ends very soon. On the news last night they showed dead children killed from Russian air missiles and it definitely got me down. It’s amazing how wars like this are still happening.
It’s kind of shocking how one man can still get people to take up arms with virtually the whole world agreeing it’s wrong. In my opinion, the only way this is still going on is because many Russians are being fed some insane propaganda and are being shielded from the global opinion.
I wish the average Russians had access to the internet and social media, in this rare case it could actually help.
1554  Other / Off-topic / Re: Which anime did you watch first? on: April 04, 2022, 06:01:24 AM
I watched Cowboy Bebop at some point in the early 2000s and it just blew my mind. It’s a really cool space themed series taking place way in the future, I really dug the characters and it got me into anime.
The story centered around a couple of bounty hunters and I really liked the team they put together. I remember liking the femme fatale character and there was a hacker in the crew too.
What an awesome series, I think there were 4 or 5 episodes at first but it went on for a lot longer and got really good. I haven’t seen in it years but still highly recommend it .
1555  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are Your Kids Aware Of Bitcoin? Teach Them. on: April 04, 2022, 05:39:33 AM
I am an uncle to 3 amazing boys ages 5, 8 and 13. They’re  all pretty well informed on crypto currencies and the blockchain. In my opinion, I think it’s easier to explain to children about crypto than fiat because the Trezor as a concept is quite visual for children to grasp.
I mean trying to explain the insanity of the federal reserve is probably harder to teach them. I’m very impressed with those boys, they’re so smart and already understand so much about finance.

1557  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Who are the top crypto influencers on: April 04, 2022, 05:17:51 AM
I’ve followed some crypto influencers like Erik Voorhees on Twitter in the past but I don’t really appreciate their advice. Recently, I actually started unfollowing a lot of them because I think they’re looking for a paycheck and will use spin to their advantage but not to the benefit of their followers. I’m a long hold on BTC, I don’t need an influencer to try to sell me on something their being paid to peddle.
1558  Other / Off-topic / Re: What is the last movie you watched? on: April 04, 2022, 05:09:50 AM
I just caught Luca (2021) the animated movie on Disney Plus and I was mildly entertained.  I haven’t watched an animated movie in a while but it was a coming of age story taking place Italy and I was looking for something lighter so I checked it out.
It definitely was not what I expected, I’m not going to give any spoilers but it went more fantasy than I was expecting but all and all I still really enjoyed it.
The themes of growing up, leaving home and finding your passions are still relevant to me even though I’m probably a little old to watch Pixar movies.
1559  Economy / Economics / Re: What skills should I learn to get freelance work ..?? on: March 30, 2022, 10:47:38 AM
If you're looking for freelance work, I suggest first doing a little brainstorming on what you enjoy doing more with your time.
For example, if you’re more tech savvy and don’t mind spending your time staring at screens, I think digital media like graphic design is a great side gig.
On the other hand, if your more hands on and crafty I would recommend looking into making something or fixing older items and selling on Etsy or eBay.
Whatever you decide to do for your side hustle there are plenty of free introductory videos available online to get you started.
1560  Economy / Economics / Re: Crypto users in Africa grew by 2,500% in 2021: Report on: March 30, 2022, 10:17:12 AM
I think it’s fantastic that so many people on the African continent are taking advantage of the crypto revolution.
In Africa the utilization and just plain access to banks is so low. With crypto the people now have the means to a secure form of storing digital assets.
I mean look at these numbers of adoption, it just shows how much potential and practical value crypto currencies bring to so many people all over the world.
