Why will it not? If in the future bitcoin keeps going up and fiat keeps going down which is what happens when they print more of it on a whim people might wise up. Money should grow over time not devalue and bitcoin could solve this and that's what's great about a deflationary currency.
I can see that you've got high hopes about bitcoin but dollar has been there long before bitcoin has been established but I don't think that it would replace USD anytime soon. We're a small community compared to the fiat and I'm pretty sure you know where I'm going with this. I think that the Bitcoin is never going to to take over the Dollar I just do not see something like that happening. The Dollar is not doing bad so they do not have any reason to be taken over by the Bitcoin.

At a moment I don't think its possible, dollar is very strong currency and enjoys huge market cap, bitcoin is too small in compare to dollar yet, so that will never happen.

Considering that not all areas in the world are able to access the technology to use bitcoin and the fact that bitcoin is not very well known among many people, I do not believe that bitcoin will ever replace the dollar. Bitcoin may become a popular way to spend and invest money, but the chance of it replacing our current currency is very low.
Of course we cannot expect everybody use bitcoins, and even the title of the thread only says about dollars, how about other countries who are using pesos, or yuan, we have different currencies per countries but I think the most adopters of bitcoins came from countries using dollars as their legal tender. But the OP is asking about dollar as dollar is currently global currency so the OP is asking about the bitcoin, that when will it become a global currency replacing dollar, not any other currency.

no, never.. bitcoin is a currency and can be changeable on exchange offices. and maybe usable on special global shops. think about that; you have a mexican pesos u can not use it in india, your exchange procedure is clear. u must change it on exchange offices. if it can be success, u can use btc on shops, coffee houses, malls. and it sounds great. but btc price is not stable and i dont believe it never be stable. and in this situation also buyers or sellers one of them must be loose money

you are right. it will not be. although bitcoin has a higher value of the dollar, but basically, the price of bitcoin unstable. although you can use bitcoin for shopping, or to buy a cup of coffee, but it will never be able to replace the dollar

Claims like this are fun to talk about but little more than good marketing for Coinbase. (Don't get me wrong, I like Coinbase). But no one can say for sure whether bitcoin will have staying power and significance to be considered the world's reserve currency ever let alone 15 years.
What I think is a better discussion to have about this is why would we want Bitcoin to be the world's reserve currency. Existing fiat currencies are controlled and manipulated by Governments and Banks. Do you think these people are going to just let Bitcoin exist without their involvement or blessing? Do you think these people aren't going to want to have control and option to manipulate Bitcoin as they have fiat?
I think the answer is No!
If Bitcoin becomes the world's reserve currency, Bitcoin will be destroyed as we know it. I can't see a way that it wouldn't, but if you all think differently I'd love to hear it!
lol how do you all think that the bitcoin can replace a valuta i dont think that can happen because the bitcoin exist out of dollars you dumb ass.

Although it is also a fact that only Bitcoin can be a real competitor for US dollar. Bitcoin has more greater benefits if ever it will replace dollar.

I think for international use every person will use bitcoin as it has very attractive features for international use, and the local currencies will also be used but only for local use in the local market of each country.

FYI, if by the time bitcoins will replace dollar we don't need to convert it currency anymore just to determined the real value in terms of one countries legal tender, the value of bitcoin should be universally adopted among countries.

Yes so basically people will be payed in Bitcoin per hour and will be able to pay rent, bills, anything they need to in Bitcoin. So Bitcoin will be pegged to what you can get with it, not fiat.

I do not think that the United State of America change their dollar with another currency. But we will see, all we have to do is to wait 15 years and see what will happen. On the other hand, I am sure that Bitcoin will be more and more used as a currency, but it will stay like that like another optional currency.

An investment and online transaction money. How good to hear that. Better stay that way for now to not get conflict to other currency. I would much prefer it as a commodity.

I honestly don't think it'll happen, certainly not in 15 years... In 100 years maybe?
Honestly I think that it is never going to happen because the Dollar has been around for to long and the Bitcoin is still beginning. Maybe the Dollar will take over the Bitcoin. It is true that bitcoin has captured the world market and world financial system but dollar is not that much powerful which bitcoin has IMHO, and because of some features people want to use bitcoin and deny dollar for that use. These are some of reasons I am believing that bitcoin may replace dollars.

If the New World Order is coming, they would probably use Bitcoin as the global currency, and as a result this will replace old fashioned fiat currencies such as the dollar. Do you believe this would happen?
