Swiatek was the absolute favorite to win the title in Melbourne this year. But she is disabled. It kind of reminds me of Djokovic in the year when he won everything and nobody could stop him. It is not for nothing that she is number one in the world ranking. She has won a Grand Slam tournament 3 times so far. Australian open and Wimbledon never. So not this year either. These players have risen very quickly. In 2019 she reached the final for the first time, and now she is currently the best (or one of the best) players in the world. Things can go lightning fast. Not as fast as the development of Carlos Alcaraz, I would have liked to see him play in Melbourne.
Whether it is football, tennis or any sports we were able to encounter much unexpected outcomes. Iga Swiatek losing to Rybakina is one such incident in the women's tennis this year. These kind of unexpected outcomes make the tournament even better. The loss too happened on direct sets which is much disappointing.
I remember those time when there was women tennis players were the famous all over the world - now less people know about women players however men get all the recognisation
There was a time when Steffi graf - who won 22 Grand Slam singles titles - and spent 377 weeks at the top of the WTA ranking, the most of any player.these kind of superstar are missing now.

Rublev - Rune is the match to watch for me tonight. I can't decide who is closer to winning so that is usually a good sign to place an over games bet. Both players are known for bad and good streaks in the matches and I wouldn't be surprised with 5 sets here.

...and 5 sets it is and now 5-5 in the final set. Looks like Rune is having trouble finishing
it out, he was 4-1 up!
Easiest money yet in this AO, there really was a lot of strange results so I needed this one.

Would have been even better if Sinner managed to turn Tsitsi, I was already counting it as win after he got 2 sets back, but he had no chance in 5th set. Not every day you get that close to hitting odds @9.5 on single match.

I favored Rune against Rublev, did not bet on it though.
The reward for the winner is the QF against high flying Đoković, who's started strongly against De Minaur as well.

The semifinal in that part of the draw will be fantastic for whoever wins there, it seems like Shelton and Paul (both unseeded) will fight for the SF spot.
Shelton is already through, while Paul is currently 2-1 in sets vs Bautista Agut.

On the other hand, Bautista Agut has big problems in the match with Paul and is on the verge of defeat. I thought this would be a much easier match for him.
Currently, Paul is leading 2:1 in sets, and there is a big and uncertain fight in the fourth set.

I expected three players who are supposedly underdogs in Australian open, Shapovalov, Sinner and Korda, apparently only Korda is still in the tournament and I'm expecting him to keep going forward, his next opponent is Khachanov and Korda is the favorite to win  against him, after that he might face Tsitsipas in the semi final and I'm predicting that Korda could reach the final, we'll see what happens, he's a young talent and I saw how calm and well composed he is even against tough players.

Korda shows a great performance. The fact that he defeated Medvedev in 3 sets was certainly not expected by the most. But he had to play 5 sets against Hurkacz and needed the most of the time for the last set. But that was an important experience for him. He really has a lot of potential and if he continues like this he will become a top ten tennis player.

Djokovic won against Minaur very convincingly. Did not lose even one set. A very dominating performance by Novak Djokovic. I do not know if anyone will actually be able to stop him in this tournament. Djokovic is playing really well and I also agree that it feels like he is on a revenge mission. It will actually be interesting to see if anyone can stop him. I do not see anyone who will be able to honestly.

In other matches, Bautista Agut lost against Paul. He did give good competition to Paul. But fell short.

Avoid women's haha. Only 3 of the top 20 seeds left, might as well throw money on outrights left if you like doing that.

Meanwhile, Tsitsi definitely on course for another semis, probably really lucky to get stronger opponents knocked out before their route reaches him but I'm not falling for him. If he does make the final, then the gods are really laughing at me.

I'm with Trofo on Rublev. Hoping for a strong start, will take Djoko if first set goes against him, and another even bet if he even drops a second set. That's the only sure thing I can foresee for now.

Djokovic had made it past de minaur easily his performance is on another level compared to the other players i had hoped to see rublev or tsitsipas provide some competition for him but i don't see them beating him, i hope we will see some competition in rublev and djokovic game.

Rublev - Ruhne was a great match. A decisive 5th sets after the set score ended 2-2 after 4 sets. It does save a lot of time and energy for players that a super tie break is now played. That is, until the 10 points instead of the normal tie break (7 points). Ruhne had a 5-2 lead in the 5th set, and also led 5-0 and 7-2 in the super tie break. After that, Rublev won no less than 7 points in a row and then the rank was empty for the Dane. What Djokovic showed was phenomenal. The Minaur only won a few games in total. It seems as if Djokovic is playing against amateurs, while these are just players from the top 25 in the world. Who is going to stop Djokovic in his half of the schedule?

they all seem weak next to Djokovic right now, he will face Rublev in Quarter finals and the odds are favoring Nole with 1.14 for him to win, this shows how much he is dominating right now, and after that he will face the winner between Tommy paul and Shelton, both are easy opponents for him, so reaching the Final seems really easy for him.

It is already predicted one, because the advertisement that prompt for Australian Open itself have Welcome back Novak Djokovic. As he didn't attend the previous tournament, this time this is something confirmed as a title win for him. At times scenario could change and for now he's playing in a cool way with confidence. Until that is with him, no player can make a win against him.

It would be great to see Rublev actually win the tournament, he is such a hard worker
and is very hard on himself. His weakness I think is is mental ability....although he showed
strong character to come back in that final set today and win....even with a bit of luck with a
net ball! First he has to get past Djokovic on Wednesday

Of course Djokovic knows all this and will be using it against him for sure.

I'm really not sure which of the remaining tennis players in the tournament can stop Djokovic on his way to the title. Tsitsipas? I don't think he's ready yet.
You can't beat Djoković in his game which De Minaur proved today. One of the better movers and counter punchers on tour was scrambling to get anything in the match against Djoković. Only way you can win against Djoković in form is to shoot trough him.

Rublev on his day can do that and I actually think he could be a test for Djoković, problem is Rublev has troubles of keeping his levels high and once Djoković enters his head it will be all over. Just hoping Rublev will open strong and give us the match and maybe some juicy odds on Djoković.

When someone other than Djokovic wins the title the tournament become more interesting.
In the present scenario it is really hard for anyone to compete against Djokovic and win the title.
Rublev is hard working, but it looks like luck doesn't favour him.
Let's see what's gonna happen with the upcoming matches,
because in recent days more unexpected results gave come out.

Well Djokovic' days are numbered, he cannot keep going, his body will dictate that. He is already
showing signs of that.

Korda had to retire against Khachanov with a wrist injury.

Up next is Tsitsipas v Lehecka and the other quarter final is Shelton v Paul.

Rublev, Tsitsipas and Paul IMO could still trouble Djokovic.

It has been a really weird tournament so far. Considering that Shelton and Paul are playing against each other, we'll have an unseeded player in the semifinal.

Đoković could not have had it easier than this, if he beats Rublev he's practically in the final.

Tsitsipas looks like the likely finalist from the other part of the draw as well, Khachkanov looks like a dream draw in the GS semifinal.

Yeah, some constants (well, one constant) set in stone, and others not. Anyone who's got an outright on Shelton or Paul must be really tempted by cashout now (I know all normal bookies normally let you cash out these kind of outsiders), pretty sure both were 150/1 at the very least.

Rublev at 15/1 now even is tempting, if he does a miracle, no better chance to win a GS.

Tsitsipas has the possibility to become Number 1. So far, however, he has only ever made it to the semi-finals in Australia. But Djokovic could also become Number 1. If both reach the final there will be a new Number 1 and Number 2.
But first Tsitsipas has to play against Khachanov. He had won the match against Korda. Unfortunately Korda had to end up his game because of an injured wrist.

The thought that Tsitsipas may soon surpass Novak as the world's top player is mind-boggling. If he were to reach the top of his profession, as he has been accomplishing over the last several years, the world would be a better place. But, as you said, Djokovic, a veteran player, is also in the running. In the event that they both reach the championship game, fans will have a fantastic contest to enjoy.

Khachanov, moreover, is no dummy on the court. His recent performance is oustanding. Tsitsipas will need to play at a high level if he is to go to the semifinals and defeat him. It's tragic when a star player like Korda is sidelined due to injury, but we can only pray that he makes a full recovery and comes back stronger than ever. The stakes in this contest are high, for sure.

I don't think Rublev can win it, he just doesn't have the constant. What do you mean no better chance to win GS? He plays Djoković next which is toughest possible draw for any player in any Grand Slam. Yeah he came far, but I don't see how he can win against Djoković in best of 5 sets. He can take first set for sure and maybe second but I am expecting him to loose belief during second set already and after that it will be one way match.
