Tsitsipas really has to cut down on his unforced errors. He played better in both the second and third sets and arguably should have won both. He needs to improve his second serve and his forehand.

First of all, Tsitsipas needs to work on his mental preparation for important tennis matches. It is no coincidence that although he is a very talented and good tennis player, he has not won any GS so far, even though this was his second final.
In the most important moments of this final match, Djokovic was always calmer and better, he made much less mistakes and because of that he won and won the new GS.
Young tennis stars like Tsitsipas, Medvedev or Zverev are excellent tennis players, but they still lack something to be at the level of the big three of world tennis, Federer, Nadal and Djokovic.
I think that we will see the dominance of Nadal and Djokovic in tennis for at least another year or two.

Thats what I think Tsitsipas lacks or is his weakness - his mental strength. He has the tools,
the talent to win.

Tsitsipas has been in GS finals before though! the famous French Open of 2021 was very
notable, Tsitsipas against Djokovic won the first two sets... but lost the match!

Thats what I think Tsitsipas lacks or is his weakness - his mental strength. He has the tools,
the talent to win.

Even though i agree that players like Tsitsipas or Zverev or Shapovalov or others need to improve on their consistency in order to really be able to get on the level of the very best players like Djokovic and Nadal. I also think though that this is so much easier said than done. I mean it is almost impossible to win against Djokovic in my opinion because he just is the best return player at the moment and he is able to bring back almost every ball of the opponent. So you have to be very aggressive and you have to take a pretty big risk because you need to place your shots in a way where even Djokovic can not reach them, which obviously also increases the number of unforced errors.

Tsitsipas will win this tournament one more time, but he needed a lot of experience and Djokovic is probably much stronger than him mentally. And let's not forget the age difference, of course. Djokovic can play tennis for a few more years and then it will be the end of the story, just like Federer did. I'm sorry we didn't get to see Alcaraz. A final between Alcaraz and Djokovic would have been a nice sensation. Nadal seems to have too many injuries in recent years and will probably announce his retirement soon.

Djokovic won the australian open as expected despite the score being 3 0 two of the sets were entertaining tsitsipas performed really well in this tournament, but djokovic is the number one at the moment i think this is his chance to win all grand slams in one year the only potential threat for him is alcaraz and maybe nadal depending on his form.

For what I have seen today, I think that Djokovic with such forms and "interest on win" is actually the best player, without any doubt, really hard to be defeated.
Today he has been really strong, being able to capitalize any good chance for him.
Tsitsipas is talented is absolutely true. Probably he need to be more "self conscious" about his ability.

that's another thing about Tsitsipas that i hate, his mentality, i'm not really a fan of that, he needs to learn how to control his emotions and not just act on them, he would be way better if works on that because he already has the talent to play.

This is an expected result. Tsitsipas have fought good making it an interesting match than an one sided game. Djokovic have won with the set results of 6-3 77-64 77-65. With this win once again Djokovic proved he's the No.1 and the upcoming tournaments to bring good win through this. He missed the tournament last year and a good comeback.

Is Federer now out of the equation for GOAT? Djokovic and Nadal, both have won more slams than him and are still on top of their game (barring injuries).

Really depends on how you see it, obviously as far as Grand Slams, both Djokovic and Nadal has more, and they are tied.

And we are expecting that Djokovic will break that tie and probably win in the next coming years so yeah, most likely he will be the GOAT by the time he retires. Tsitsipas though, another sad lost for him at the hands of Djokovic.

He really tried his best on the 2nd and 3rd, that Djokovic game is too much. Congrats who take the win tonight.

Is Federer now out of the equation for GOAT? Djokovic and Nadal, both have won more slams than him and are still on top of their game (barring injuries).
GOAT selection is only based on what we like, if you like Federer then he is GOAT as well if you like Djokovic or Nadal then they are both GOATs and this will be a long discussion but it won't change that in Tennis there are also other tennis players who have similar achievements can't be achieved by these three players, Serena who currently still holds the most GS, or Steffi Graff with the same number of GS titles as Nadal and Djokovic and being the first tennis player who can win all four GS in a year plus an Olympic medal, so comparing them and discussing them is never finished.

Tsitsipas must have been disappointed by what happened in the final, twice in the GS final and losing to the same player, but as I've mentioned before, beating Djokovic in the AO final is just as difficult as beating Nadal in the RG final and it's tough it hasn't even happened so far

Yes possibly but there are other questions which remain a mystery if we remove Djokovic
from the equasion.

Would Rublev have beaten any other player to get to the final, or Paul?

If either of them got to the final because they were on Djokovic' side of the draw, would
they have beaten Tsitsipas?

What I'm asking really is, would any other player have a decent chance against Tsitsipas?
I think yes, so he may have a bigger chance of winning a final without Djokovic or Nadal
in his way but there are a number of players who can beat him

Yes, it was a great tournament and he was very interesting to see. I've never seen Djokovic cry for minutes on the floor next to the team after the final and afterwards. The ice man went and the exploding man came. He said it was the biggest victory I've ever won, as if he hadn't won 21 grand slams. He is 35 years old, but still mentally, he is approaching the end of his 25th career and I thought he would pass the flag to the next generation of Russians, but this covid issue has made the man very aware and passionate. He will probably last another 5 years comfortably. 30 grand slams are on the horizon. Without a doubt, nothing will ever be the same when a messi and novak leave in sports in general.

He is better compared to almost everyone else in this tournament. Actually, he was better than anyone else in this tournament and that's why he did win the Australian Open. It is going to be interesting to see him play against Alcaraz. I want to say that he is the only one who will be able to give Novak Djokovic a good competition. Everyone else is basically failing.

There has never been a more sweet victory than this. As a result of the victory, he has become very emotional. Humans are capable of such reactions after all. The reason I supported Djokovic is due to the fact that he had to win this tournament. It was well deserved for him, and I am delighted that he won. It's great to see him playing well here too. He's really strong. The fact that they are still able to win Grand Slams at their ages while tying for 22 Grand Slams between them says a lot about their tenacity. We'll have to wait and see what happens at the French Open at the end of May, then at Wimbledon and US Open later on. Continue to keep up the good work.

We have witnessed one of the greatest trio players of Federer, Nadal and Djokovic. People even claimed it would be difficult to break the record of Federer and Nadal did it and soon Djokovic seems to be making a history for himself. With these three players dominating most of 21st century, Federer has taken a retirement while Nadal seems to be going out of his prime but with djokovic still going strong, Djokovic could remain the ultimate GOAT at least for some decades.

If Djokovic had participated in this tournament, Tsitsipas would have been the best player. But Djokovic was unstoppable this tournament.

I honestly think that Paul could have been a good contender for the title if we remove Novak Djokovic from the context. But I am someone who does not like to live in a dream world. This was obviously a good performance from Novak Djokovic. And obviously, we should give him credit for that. Now if he was not in the tournament, obviously the tournament might have been a little more interesting. He is the current champion of the Australian Open.

Paul played a great tournament and got further than he thought. We just have to see how he will do in the near future. The same happened to Tim van Rijthoven last year, who won the tournament in Rosmalen and also made a big impression at Wimbledon, but after that it was nothing at all. Often you see players have a hot flush of several weeks in a year, and then they fall back into their old pattern and normal form. I hope that's not the case with Paul. America has a lot of tennis players, but real world top players no longer seem to be able to deliver them like we used to have Sampras and Agassi.

congratulation to the Novak Djokovic for winning the Australian Open - i have read the comparison of Nadal and Federer and Djokovic - for me Nadal is the best of the best.
however on the other hand Sania mirza took retirement from her tennis career too.

Nadal is no more able to give hard competence due to injury and the young players have begun to perform much better than the old days. The legendary ones tooks credit of the experience and try to win over the young ones, but the stamina of the young players doesn't let this to happen that easy. Different people have their own favourite, and Sania Mirza retiring from Tennis doesn't looks like a big news.

Novak Djokovic had a great match. He also had a great tournament. In the last match, he was the winner. And he did win the match quite convincingly in the end. I also feel like this was not at his level.

He is better compared to almost everyone else in this tournament. Actually, he was better than anyone else in this tournament and that's why he did win the Australian Open. It is going to be interesting to see him play against Alcaraz. I want to say that he is the only one who will be able to give Novak Djokovic a good competition. Everyone else is basically failing.

congratulation to the Novak Djokovic for winning the Australian Open - i have read the comparison of Nadal and Federer and Djokovic - for me Nadal is the best of the best.
however on the other hand Sania mirza took retirement from her tennis career too.
I'm not going to give up on Nadal yet, we all know he's getting kind of old and injuries affect tennis players a lot since it's a one player game, but he's not the type of player to give up easily, he had his downs throughout his career and bounced back, I'm expecting him to win a couple of big tournaments before he retires, if his body doesn't bring him down, the mentality to win will always be there with El Matador.
