Not from now on,  just during the network protection period...and people who sold all of their equipment should be excluded too.

That can't tax you for online gambling in the USA... because online gambling is illegal here...
But you may run into other problems....  like the gambling site you use disappears one morning...
and all the BTC get confiscated....    ug  be careful!
If you enjoy gambling...  you should try trading on an exchange... it's legal... and they do have tax in place for commodities trading.....(USA deemed BTC a commodity) but have yet to enforce on BTC...

No worries.  My gambling is limited to pre-order bitcoin miners (biggest value gamble I ever made) and a buck or two on FantasyFive if over $200k.

For a while when I was younger and not finding work in my field I delivered parts to garages for a local autoparts store (non-national).  I was impressed with one of the owners telling his bookie 3k on a game.  My Merc was right up there with that.

It could also be that one of the other wires had no connection. (insulation in crimp)
The remaining now have more load than they the can handle.

Given that there were fires, it might be prudent for KnC to whip up a test fixture that will pump 5 amps thru each conductor of that 4 conductor extension cable with a go/no-go indicator rejecting for any significant variations - this for any new miners that ship with those blue cable extensions.  Their lab could design and build one pretty quickly as it would be a one off.  A box with a red/green LED, a plug and socket for each end of the blue extension, and a test button.  Guts would have current sensing on each conductor that must fall within some window.

That would be nice.  Also nice would be if they didn't use freaking 20-ga wire.  I think the Octobers used 18-ga, and then they took a step backward and used 20-ga on the Novembers.

Alright, I don't know if someone can help me here with this, I know someone else was having a similar issue here, but I don't know if it was ever resolved.

For the past month, I've had three modules in my Saturn, and all the dies have been working fine ever since I've gotten the upgrade module, and used fw 98.1.beta. 3 days ago, one of the dies died and won't stay on. I've put in fw 9.1.1 (the new one 'Orama linked to) and adjusted settings, but it only comes back on for a few seconds (maybe 10 seconds), and dies again. Also, if I use any other fw other then 98.1.beta another die turns off on another modules, and the worst part is, bertmod can never detect that dc/dc module, here's what I mean:



On the last board, one of the cores never show up (it never has), and the one that shuts off on any other fw is the one I can't see (the only reason I know this is because I used BFGMiner from bertmod and it showed that board only hashes at 108GH/s on any other fw.

Things I've tried:

     1. I checked all the cables (power and data cable). I've got all the modules plugged directly to the PSU currently (bypassing the blue extension cables)
     2. I've rearranged the data cables on different ports, I've also swapped cables between modules.
     3. I've tried to let the module heat up to 88c to see if the die would come back on.
     4. I've tried several firmwares: 9.9.1-tuning, 9.9-tuning, 9.8.1, 9.8.1beta (the one that works the best), 9.6.1, 9.5 and 9.4. I'm currently back on 9.8.1beta

I don't know what else I can try to fix this. Before I was getting an average of 425GH/s and 5920WU. Now I am getting 380GH/s and 5330WU. Anyone have any other ideas I can try? I don't know jack sh!t about linux, so if it involves anything to do with that, I would need handholding through the whole process. I would really appreciate the help.

P.S. Now that I think about it, that problem started happening the day after I updated to the new fw that 'Orama had linked to, that improves the hashrate for Eligius. Not sure if it have anything to do with it, or just pure coincidence.

I just tried it with having just that one module connected to see if maybe it was a problem with the PSU and this is what I get:

.... and not its back to the way it was... 0.188A output voltage... so its not a problem with the PSU. I've tried different pci-e cables.

I've been trying to determine if the next unconfirmed batch of Jupiters will be worth buying and want to share my estimates. Please keep in mind that my goal is to be somewhere between pessimistic and realistic.

Assumptions:

• Next batch will be delivered by the first week of February 2014
• Hash rate will by 670GH/s
• Difficulty will increase at 25% per adjustment for the lifetime of the Jupiter
• Shipping costs will be $136.80 (based on previous Jupiter shipments)
• Power supply will cost $200
• Power consumption will be 900W @ $0.15/kWh
• $700/BTC
• No VAT or customs fees (I'm in the US)

Using the above assumptions, the next batch of Jupiters should generate 8.52 BTC before becoming unprofitable based on this calculator. Subtract the electric costs and the remaining BTC will be worth $5340.95 @ $700/BTC.

tl;dr - I think the next batch of Jupiters need to be priced below $4,995 to be profitable.

If KnC continue to sell Jupiters, they just sell $3000/Feb. Jupiter. I hope that ha ha ha

I think $2995 for previous customers would be a fair price for a January Jupiter @ 675 GH/s.  Anything higher than that is not really profitable especially if they are not delivered until late Jan/ early Feb.

what did i miss? KNC openend another batch of neptunes but they didnt announced them? no newsletter, no news on their website.
could it be that these were neptunes wich were bought but never paid?

and when do you believe they will open sales for jupiters or another 28nm gear?

But as a follow-up on Searing's Bank episodes....  I just had a similar problem.
and it has nothing to do with KNC... They did all they could and were absolutely correct in telling me my bank information was wrong!
Indeed, not all banks in USA are sliced the same.......    
My "Credit Union" boasts about the ability to do international transfers,
yet cannot provide me with a BIC/SWIFT code... I talked with 3 different reps
and one branch manager...  and they literally told me on every call that the routing & transit numbers are all they have besides my account number.
I told them they are literally forcing me to bank elsewhere....   bye!
The very first other bank I called literally was giggling on the other end when I told her the story....
We both came to the same conclusion....  Any bank in Hawaii that doesn't have a BIC/SWIFT code for
international banking is really limiting their ability to do business,
being we are an island in the middle of the Pacific, that's sad....   (and is actually in non-compliance with ISO 9362, and ISO 3166 for financial institutions...) 
Searing had a similar problem stateside he posted in here.....  and helped me decide to take the next step for future instances... thx by the way....
