Speaking of reseller links, feel free to use mine lol. Nobody has so far. In one sense, i can't blame them if they're going to order like 10 or 50 themselves using their own referral code. Was hoping the folks buying individual units would use it. Eventual goal is to provide a good portion of the profits to charities which accept BTC directly, as well as others. If I ever get traction on it, I'll throw up a thread detailing it.

Cypher, you know about electricity, how many Neptunes do you think I can run off a warehouse with 3 phase?

Thanks

I have three phase power as well, just saying 3 phase doesn't change things. You have a current limit to your power feed, so what is your main service rated for? I have 600 A. Then there is the different styles of 3 phase, so that changes what you have available at your panels. If you have that power, and don't know how to use it, you really want to have an electrician wire things up for you (quick death!)

You probably have a BIG panel, with a lot of breakers. Each breaker connects a wire to a plug to one of the legs. You'll mostly use standard single phase 240 to run your power supplies as I do, which is any combination of two legs. Since we don't even know the power requirements of the neptune right now, it's not really possible to know a total.  When I was planning, I would guess 3000W each, so I'd be running two neptunes to each 30A 240 breaker, for a MAXIMUM of 40 neptunes. That leaves some overhead, and room for my other equipment. Not that I have 40 neptunes unless people want me to host a bunch of them Smiley

Yes, but they are big server power supplies 4000-6000w etc. I was going to get some, but I went with single phase 240 server power supplies at a significantly lower price.

 Huh Huh Huh

isn't this cheating, no?

if you clicked someones reseller link then that link served it's purpose.. isn't that the idea of a reseller link that someone clicks?

I never asked KNC to change my Neptune to my reseller link.. it simply does make sense.

You'll get >220VAC from L1-L2 or L2-L3 or L1-L3.  No real advantage to using 3 phases at one time I suppose unless you're running some kind of tremendous brushless motor.

Still think it would be better to do a mass order through knc with a recommended server power supply company giving us some discount

Not sure what you mean. I've got a crate full of 2000W 240v power supplies. I can run a whole lot of machines with them and they were much cheaper than pc psus.

Argh, we're heading for a world where each of us is renting some massive industrial unit with its own en-suite power station. Saving up every BTC we mine just to buy the next miner that comes out in 6 months time and still only making 1 BTC a day because everyone else is doing the same thing.

Change that to 0.1 BTC per day and it sounds more realistic  Cry

I'd laugh if I wasn't crying so much.
Still, Bitcoin Miners as underfloor heating boiler has some appeal - in Winter anyway. I'll worry about what to do in Summer in a few months. Outdoor heated pool?

I don't think Knc wants to compete with themselves, so I doubt they will sell more Jupiters before the current Neptune batch sells out.

Were these second hand or new? and what price range did you buy them?
Most (new) >2kW power supplies for routers/servers I know are often around 500USD or even higher.
But yea better is to wait for KNC's advice on power supplies.
I already asked them if they are going to supply the power supplies but the answer was a probably no.
What I mean is that it would be better for KNC to partner up with a well known server power supply supplier and get us individuals discount on their product some how.

Most of the competition seem to be shipping their miners with power supplies in the box, so it can't be that hard.

The power requirement of the Neptune isn't an easy sell.  If I were a competitor and realizing if I ship real quantity and power it will trigger a Jupiter sale response by KnC, I might consider doing a BFL with some backdoor deals and machines to family and friends but leave the majority of my customers in the lurch.  KnC might see the lack of major hash addition all at once as allowing a better chance to sell Neptunes - they wouldn't be their own competition if that makes any sense.

It would be a strange turn of events if the competition is lining the pockets of employees, family and friends with their product hashing at a  lower total net hashrate while giving their customers excuses and the only thing that would get them off the pot is if KnC started reproduction and sale of Jupiters. (The kind of logic a Bush spin-doctor would love.)

I can guarantee after the first Neptune's ship out this spring (yes spring) there will be some people selling theirs because they just didn't know what they were getting themselves into. Wondering why they keep tripping electrical breakers at home and why the electric bill is so high. Hell, even my tiny little October Jupiter heats an entire room when it is 30 degrees out. The Neptune's really are a commercial product, not a consumer/residential. KNC pretty much will abandon its consumer base and only deal with commercial going forward since they will be the only ones that can afford and run their rigs.

when does Neptune refund option end?
it is when they start production, no?
When is that likely to happen? This week, next week, week after?

What I am getting at is when the option for refunds stop/end, that's when we might see Jupiters for sale again.

I think that KNC are not going to sell Jupiters because of some existing customers started asking for Neptune refunds in order to buy Jupiters.

I also think that if there was no option to refund Neptunes then they would have gone ahead and sold more Jupiters.

Didn't a few guys here say they were going to refund their Neptunes to buy more or some Jupiters?  This is what I remember just after KNC announced that they were going to sell Jupiters again and for us to keep some bitcoins handy.

If I was in this business I would stop selling Jupiters also because of the fear of Neptune refunds.  They would make more profit if they just did offer them to us and sell them off privately.

This is just my opinion.

Because no one really wants to wait 6 months for a product and be out all that money.

Beware of BitPlastic
Yet more trouble with Bitplastic for me...  BTC being literally stolen by the site owners after they admittedly saw it "Stuck" in the system... they did a "server upgrade" a few days ago, now they act as if the conversation we had never took place, and my BTC is gone. The amounts that DID eventually make it to the card (after depositing the btc about 2 weeks prior) was skimmed yet even more... well beyond and after they took their their "Fee" .6 is .53 after their fee. of which they loaded the card with $371.(fine) I was expecting more like what they advertised... 5%, not 5% plus whatever they can siphon from you...
ended up more like 50%
Totally a rip job.
out of the one whole btc I sent... $371.00!

Hi, I'm the owner of https://BitPlastic.com
I would assume that this case has been resolved?  Obviously no funds were stolen from you, so I'm assuming it was a mixup which has since been resolved by customer support, but if not feel free to email me at moriarty.bitcoin@gmail.com

KNC is scratching their head wondering why they haven't sold out of Neptune's by now. DERRRRRRRR. And if the very remote chance they would sell Jupiters again you would see JUPITER on your account instead of Neptune most likely.

By the way, we don't need 10000 resellers. Everyone is friggin reseller now.

What the heck is the difference of selling your bitcoin on an exchange or something and depositing that money into your bank account and using your debt card? I don't get it?

The owner of Bitplastic.com and using a Gmail email account? This is a true start up here.

I edited the post, and yeah, after "reminding" you several times... I finally got the .2
and was able to transfer it out. After waiting 3 weeks for the card, which I also paid .2 for, I transferred in .8 via 4 deposits of .2btc, and somehow the last one got "Stuck" in the system according to him. That took a week to get back.

Of course they forget to mention you need to actually make a withdraw to the card after loading your wallet.
I tried the card for three days thinking I had it loaded, once I DID figure that out...
The physical withdrawing of the .53 I had left, to the debit card, took yet another 4 days.
I also had to email you just to be able to check the balance on the card because the card site, or logon & pass info wasn't provided.
I had to use google translate to use visa the site used as well
The service is extremely slow, and an international bank transfer is much faster.
It was a waste of my time and btc in my honest opinion.. in all it took over a month.
Sorry if it hurts your feelings or business.... but my associates here deserve an honest review.
The system does work, and you have a good thing, if you can manage to speed things up & improve the site and directions.
