I agree with timmers. They needed lots of crowdfunding to get their empire going, and they have done that.

Congrats to everyone!! Like the many who died building the Great Wall of China, you too can lay your claim to having helped stand-up KNC .

How much work can production be doing without a finalized ASIC or board?  They'll probably not be using production workers for building the northern facility as they'd have to relocate for some time.  So production is likely turning out Jupiters right now.  The modules will be of the new VRM and not applicable to our Merc's, Saturns or Jupiters.

I think it's already been stated in one of those press articals that the 30 people working on the data centre are locals who have extensive experience in building data centres. Not KNC staff production engineers.
KNC only need to send one or two representatives to oversee the key milestones. I bet they will just remotely manage the site. Let's face it, it will have good fast network connections so video conferencing should be a doddle.
Additionally, I read a sales blurb for the site that says 10MW is just the beginning - they can expand that up to 150MW in 12 months if they want to. Not that they need to unless they rent the second building. 10MW is a good fit for a 5000m2 data centre with ambient cooling.

I also thought that KNC do not have any production facilities of their own. I am sure I read that they outsource all the component construction and final assembly as and when they need to. No workers to lay off when times are slack.

I would quite like a couple of upgrade modules to beef up my November Jupiter (new VRMs), but I just saw a couple of pigs fly past the window, so perhaps not.  Grin

So, the videos of the guy from down under closing boxes in a building where they were running an SMT machine producing ASIC module boards and assembling units isn't a KnC manufacturing facility?  That they farm out controller boards notwithstanding.  They probably didn't bend their own aluminum for the cases either.

When a company where I worked built printed motors we didn't forge and turn the armatures shafts nor endplates, nor manufacture the alnico magnets but it was a motor manufacturing facility.  Not to be argumentative but what I saw constitutes a Jupiter manufacturing plant.

I was disappointed how they easily dismissed their 2013 customers looking for expansion modules.
They promised news coming soon™ for several months and finally, bummer, nothing, nada Sad
Otherwise, I like my Saturn and it's happily hashing OC'ed, no complaints about that.

As for the mining farm, I also think it kind of sucks, but isn't it inevitable...

for him not to show up here says a lot.  if there were any good news now or in future he'd be here backing up KNC but that's not the story.

I think we should start a clock (and petition) with time lines on what/when we what from KNC.  If we don't get realistic updates on what's happening with our orders then we should demand refunds.  And I also think it doesn't matter if you're a batch 0, 1 or 2, to just write in a TOS that you're batch 2 and you're not entitled to refund is BS (and probably illegal) especially if product you've ordered has even started production.  if product information is misleading then they don't have a leg to stand on.. We are the customers and customers are always right.

I had someone that is working bulk orders with KNC tell me that Sam Cole himself told him that the hashrate will flatten until they are shipping Neptunes as no one will be introducing significant hashrate into the network.. What is worse is this person didn't understand that the network hashrate isn't a secret as the difficulty is tied to it..

It's on track for another 20% at the next turn and has been doing 20%+ for a while, not sure how KNC can say anything like that as it's showing no signs of slowing down.

I've been waiting 4 months for this promised "levelling off" to occur.

Dude the hashrate is about to level out for a bit not, continue growing like this for a while.

Difficulty in Oct: 250M
Difficulty in Feb: 2600M

10x increase! Anybody claiming the difficulty is going to level off in the next few months is an idiot.

+1

Its gold rush... ppl get blind. Nothing is going to level off, if someone shuts down gen1 hardwae thers x2 new hardware switched on.
This train will not stop next months.

China is shipping like no tomorrow. They can afford to cut their margins... Antminer is 200$ worth hardware... Soon China is shipping 1TH 1000w miners.
Before KNC ships out anything China is pushing the difficulty with what they do best.. mass volume. 50000 Antminers unloading anyone?

Formal order of miners in here is 30 antminers   Grin Angry  ... lol

I agree my forelorn hope is that Zerocoin when released with a no pre-mine announce date (someone said may 2014) will still be sha-256 so my knc oct Jupiter 555gh can have a new life...truly anon coin and someone shouts 'gentleman start your engines' zowie if it is sha-256 with all this old unused asic power boy will that coin take off

its a forlorn hope..but hey any excuse to keep the Jupiter running (good to have goals)

Ok I'll say it simply and then expound if needed...

Why is KNC getting a pass with their influx of hash?  Is it within their right to mine? sure.. But they're disrupting my wimpy miners hash every time they spike the hash.. I'm just gonna call it Pool flux cuz I have no other way to describe it, has anyone else noticed this?  I'm assuming if it's affecting my miners, it's doing so across the pool...

http://eligius.st/~wizkid057/newstats/userstats.php/1Nbq2XZaRsKknf5fcT2wTXvBS31PaUWSeX

Just overlay this with your own eligius screen..
and If not them, why don't they just say it's not them when asked here? crickets.. Wink

They're adding super amounts of hash to the network, which flies in the face of "we won't build anything for Q1 so people can make their ROI"  paraphrasing, can't for the life of me find that little gem on their website now. Anyone?

So they pretended they won't sell us anything new, to keep the difficulty stable, but they'll take all the revenue from us buying into them and their future boxes, and mine with those 28nm they have. and just spike the difficulty continually?

https://blockchain.info/charts/hash-rate

KNC's Plan B clearly shows that within a couple of months.. their business model has gone from.. Hey buy from us we need your business.. to. we could care less if you have boxes, we'll just mine and give you rations of cloud from us..  be careful everyone.. This has much bigger ramifications if gone unchecked..

Just to put it out here. It's a wallet that has mined +3 000 000$$ fresh coins. Maybe some manufacturer wallet anyway. Be it KnC or any. I think Bitmain mines in that chinese pool.

Theres a another task for detectives in here to trail those bitcoins...

I'm hoping that's a typo? Otherwise I have completely missed the point of this thread.

If on the other hand this is a thread for costumers, does anyone have any cool cosplay ideas?

Speaking of shills, Bitcoinorama was on the forum an hour ago. When did this announcement come out? Oh yeah, over an hour ago.

Nice of the knc Director of Communications to answer all your questions for you. I mean, it's hardly his job is it?

Will his account now go dormant, like the kncminer one did in September?  Grin

Well even if you cut them a break and they announce that the "FIRST" miners used on their new farm is to virtual mine for us because of delays with the neptunes arriving...even if you give them april 1st on that option....still don't look very good in that they will eventually with their share of the farm run us over imho. (not to mention bitcoin price is not helping much in all this)....guess it depends if they come thru on time which i take to still mean Q1 for first batch neptunes (i know unlikely...but I think that was their orig goal)

still fence sitting as long as i can refund (good to have a hobby)

I've been offered the option to refund in BTC at Bitstamp's exchange rate at the moment of the refund taking place. The really weird thing followed shortly after I requested refund on my 3 Neptunes, when they said it will be processed within 3-10 business days. Wasn't aware a BTC transfer might take so long (probably they're typing my wallet address 2-3 characters/business day?)  Roll Eyes
