You make a quality post---Some user with Smerits sees it and if they think it deserves merit, they send the merit.
May u send me just one merit please. Because I cannot texting please
If as SFR10 stated, you mean sending personal message by "texting", I recommend you to not purchase copper membership for such purpose. It's waste of money. No one will give you merit unless you make quality posts. Also, it's very likely that you get banned if some users report your personal messages to admins.

I am wondering if we could integrate a merit system using blockchain and how it could work like deflationary tokens. I don't know, I just got interested on what reddit does for their $MOON tokens

Why should smerits exist? Why couldn't merits be sendable? For every merit you could receive, you can send it too. But you will lose it from your reputation score.

It was designed that way to "control" the number of Merits in circulation; a 2:1 proportion is not a bad one, and it's had no issues. There are some merit sources to compensate for those "burnt" half.

I don't really know what you mean with reputation score... but how are reputation and merits related in any way?

When I say reputation score I mean the merit score. I mean that if you send someone 1 merit then you will have 1 merit less and not still the same merits.

With the way it works now, new merits are getting "bornt" every time someone sends a smerit.

Will you send merit to others if your total merit decreases?

This way all merits will be the same and no new merits will be bornt.
And no one would rank up, because everyone would hoard his merits and total circulation would be close to 0

As time passes and we have more posts in the forum, we need more merits. That's why we have merit sources in the forum.

I have been hearing this argument for years now. nothing changed. Bad actors using system to get merits, however, true crypto believers are weeded out of the system. Soon this forum will be left with only scammers and they have motivation to increase merits to earn from this portal via bounties.

What the fuck is crypto?  I thought that this was bitcointalk?

If you cannot bring yourself around to use the word "bitcoin" then maybe you, yourself, are having troubles understanding some of the merit distribution dynamics of the forum or to identify the extent to which merits might be being effective in terms of achieving forum preferences... .or even understanding why bitcoin remains king daddy.

 Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

1) Self-Custody is a right.  There is no such thing as "non-custodial" or "un-hosted."  2) ESG, KYC & AML are attack-vectors on Bitcoin to be avoided or minimized.  3) How much alt (shit)coin diversification is necessary? if you are into Bitcoin, then 0%......if you cannot control your gambling, then perhaps limit your alt(shit)coin exposure to less than 10% of your bitcoin size...Put BTC here: bc1q49wt0ddnj07wzzp6z7affw9ven7fztyhevqu9k

Seems pretty straight forward - all Bitcoin is crypto, but not crypto is Bitcoin...
Most of the Bitcoin OG's weren't arrogant or inflexible, if we were there would be no Bitcoin today.
No need to be mean...

Merit though is kinda cool though, and definitely decays, thats what happens when you go AWOL for few years  Grin

Wrong. I have earned a total of 338 merits. They still show on my profile, as I had 1000 given to me since I was already legendary when the change was made. I have never "lost" any "displayable" amount of merit showing on my profile, nor was I given ANY smerits for the 1k I got for free, so there was nothing gained there to give. Roll Eyes

Quote

With the way it works now, new merits are getting "bornt" every time someone sends a smerit.

So what? When you get one merit, you only get half a merit (ie, 1 smerit), then when you give 1 "merit" away, you burn 2 smerits.... How does that even compute with your last sentence? Can you even math? Roll Eyes

I guess you all just wanna whine about the lack of merit you are receiving. Go post something useful or substantial and you will get merit. There is no collusion among merit sources. Go look at LoyceV's merit stats, ffs... Roll Eyes

Hm?  Perhaps you are having similar difficulties as fonship.  Hopefully, you have not gotten too distracted into shitcoins during your tenure in "crypto"  that is if you have forgotten, or maybe you never had been able to grasp distinguishing aspects of bitcoin?  Maybe?

I did a quick glance at your post history, and it looks like you may be having some troubles understanding what is bitcoin, or maybe you are just too busy pumping other crap that you believe that it is in your interest to suggest that bitcoin has defects that can be improved upon and your shitcoin can serve such purpose, no?  Where have I heard that before?

By the way, does it help to get better attention to your ideas if you increase the fontsize and type in bold?  Maybe I should test it out, even though it might end up causing some of my posts to get deleted.. or maybe I will have to receive some other kinds of punishment.  That's ok.  As long as I get more attention... overall.

From a quick glance at some of your posting history, it looks like you have a bit of a habit of bolding and increasing your font size.. Must mean that your ideas are MOAR better, no?

Most of the Bitcoin OG's weren't arrogant or inflexible,

Huh?  Someone here is not sufficiently flexible?  And, arrogant too?

if we were there would be no Bitcoin today.

Hopefully, you are not getting the dog and the tail mixed up, because the tail does not wag the lil doggie, it's the other way around, if you had not noticed.  Oh no, you are too busy thinking about some shitcoin that you want to pump, perhaps?

I never heard of a merit decay policy that had actually been implemented in this forum.   Sure merit decay has been mentioned by theymos, but I had not reallized that any such merit decay policy had been implemented, except for merit sources, but not regular merits.  Maybe you are referring to something else?  Not merit decay?

Last update I made was half a year ago, so here’s one up-to-date:

The column numbers 13 to 22 are the weeks numbers within the year, being week nº 22 the current week (partial in data, since the information is as of last Friday).

I’ve marked a few items in yellow to enhance focus (slightly) on them, be it the number alone, or in comparison to the surrounding recent weeks.

What’s probably more interesting is to comparte the beginning of the 10 week recent period (week 13 or 14) with the last full week (week 21 – last week). For example:

-   Altcoin Discussion has dropped a fair amount, whilst Bitcoin Discussion has more than doubled.
-   Bitcoin Mining has picked-up some traction as of late.
-   Trading Discussion has bumped down somewhat.
-   Local Arabic seems weaker now, as is Indonesian, whilst Spanish is performing better (although there is an outlier 50 sMerit TX behind last week’s reading).
-   Off-topic has suffered its particular halving.

I love watching johnny-come-lately Bitcoin fanatics look down at the world. Glad most of you weren't around when it was starting, otherwise it would have never gotten off the ground.

I have been thinking about whether I would have gotten into bitcoin earlier if I had known more about it.  So, sure, in my case, I started to get into bitcoin in late 2013 and established my investment and involvement plan at that time.

For me, it seems quite likely that I needed to have a certain amount of confidence to be able to get in and to get out before I was ready to invest time and money into it, but even though I had heard about the name bitcoin, I had no fucking clue about what it was until November 2013 and it had just been on my list of things to look into since about October 2013... but anyhow, once I looked into it, it did not take much time to convince me to at least get started, and maybe I could have been convinced earlier in 2013, but I might NOT have been so likely to have been convinced prior to 2013.. just my tentative speculation about the topic and knowing my own situation and my largely conservative (capital preservation approach) sufficiently to speculate in that direction.

Regarding your smug baloney regarding bitcoin not getting off the ground absent some purportedly innovative persons like yourself, I hardly know enough about you, besides your acting like a smug asshole, to appreciate the extent to which you or your actions might have been helpful to bitcoin, as a phenomenon..   Did you know satoshi, too?

Bitcoin has flaws, and people who have meaningful amounts are aware of them. I got enough Bitcoin in the old days, and I left, I came back YEARS LATER to address the problems, since this was the place where it all started.

One of those lame ass stories that seem to be aimed at pumping some kind of bitcoin 2.0 crap, rather than working on bitcoin itself.   I see.  I am glad that we have you coming back to help bitcoin to fix itself through your pumpening of some shitcoin.

Interesting to see what flourished here in my absence. Bitcoin has its place but its being mutated into something that it wasnt meant to be by people who arent even holding much of it  Roll Eyes

Are you referring to segregated witness, or some supposed development control, or some other bitcoin mutation?  Difficult to consider how bitcoin is in any kind of worse position, especially given the resolution of some of the battles in 2017.

But maybe you need to be more specific in terms of your discussion of the mutation, the timeline and what supposed problems have come to bitcoin.  Your assessment of bitcoin's purported deterioration is not coming off as very convincing, so far.

Other cryptos come to address either real or perceived needs, evolution and free market kills those whose needs are not real.

Sure, there are a lot of pumping of shit projects, and sure it is likely going to take a while before people are able to sort through some of these matters to sort the wheat from the chaff.

I am glad my fOnt SizIng HaD an Effect, after all, there was a reason for it.

Thank you being here. Grin[/b][/size]

Yes, you likely enjoy attention, but I doubt that changing font size and consistently trying to shout your post contents helps your cause as much as you conjecture that it does, and may well end up getting you in trouble (if it has not already from forum admins) or NOT receiving merits for any of those newer members who might be following this thread because they are seriously considering ways that their posts might be considered more worthy by members with smerits to send them smerits.

So getting back to my original point, you might not receive as many smerits if you are posting about shitcoins than if you were trying to focus (or at least understand bitcoin), and you also might not receive very many smerits if you are shouting in your posting style.. and seeming to either just want to get attention or considering yourself to be superior to other forum members based on when you registered your account or even some vague talents that you hold yourself out as having without really being helpful to members in other ways to attempt to clarify your ideas, even if they might be somewhat valid criticisms of bitcoin, its history and/or its direction.  If you come off as some lame shitcoin pumper who criticizes bitcoin in order to pump your project, then that would NOT seem to be as likely to inspire members who have smerits to send them in your direction, in my current thinking.

I thought you learned how the current system works and yet ask how to rank up to Member...
- Just to answer your question, you still need 45 activity points and 9 more merits.

I hope by the latter part of your question, you're not hoping that someone would give you merits for nothing.

Do not beg for merit excessively.

Why do you think that? You already have 1 merit, so you will be out of newbie jail in just a few weeks of posting here and there.... Roll Eyes
