Actually when you first run the client, it creates a number of addresses  for you.    I think it defaults to 100.  When you receive a payment on the currently shown addresses, it will then show a new one.  It also will use these addresses for change addresses which can be  a source of confusion for people as well.  So you have, unless you set a flag, had at least 100 addresses internally.    What this also means is that you can not backup your wallet.dat file once and be done with it.  You need to maintain fresh backups.

You should not have to do anything with the receiver files manually.  If you do it is an issue that should be fixed.  That said, it does right now depends on github.  If github is giving a 'I am  being slow' page instead of the files,  it will not bootstrap at that time, and will need to be closed and rerun later then github is more cooperative.  Any other issue should be reported so it can be fixed.

I did not look to closely at the random number file, but presumed that it was to prevent every client from requesting a receiver file at the same block change all at once and DDoS the sites that host the receiver files.
gotcha. So I assume there are 3 visible addresses because one has been my receiving address to date, the second was 'unveiled' to use the technical term in the previous wallet, and now with this new wallet another is shown. Receiver files - that's fine was just wondering as I recall 22 was about but not yet in the folder. That can happen when it happens, I'll keep an eye on it - thanks for the explanation.

marticps: I like the logo
emfox: the coins look a bit 1995 to me, but tastes change so who knows that may be the look of the future. Regardless if I had to offer an idea I'd be drawing it with crayons and uploaded a photo jpg so not criticising really. It's a shame the devcoin ticker isn't just DEV.

Run CrystalDiskMark on your SD card and report the numbers, especially the 4k ones.

I don't even know what that means. Any of it... I understood the SD part...

lol sorry but u must know what running is?.. u know... RUN FOREST RUN!!... and it was SD card.. not LSD card Tongue  sorry couldn't resist!!

think he means download the program CrystalDiskMark (google that) and post here what it gives you as an output and someone will help u Smiley

Everythings fine, I think it is just EXTREMELY slow because my computer is a piece of shit, and confirmations take forever on online wallets even, and I have taken the card in and out a few times, and the coins are still there, even unconfirmed transactions, so I think SD wallets work Smiley .

Can someone explain to me EXACTLY what The Galactic Milieu is and how it pertains to DVC??? I want to know how it pertains to CPU mining, and how DVC/BTC are tied in to this.

Okay, now can someone explain how to set it up? From what I understand, it is a rule-set for Freeciv... I would like to get into this, I enjoy a good game.

Basically you can program your computer to "play the game for you" and through doing so "mine" bitcoin and devcoin. GPUs are less suited for this type of calculation than CPUs are so GPUs won't help someone be faster/better at it.

Until he resets it, it may be difficult, the people who are in the game now are pretty ingrained and control everything already. You may need to wait for the games next "round" when he starts everyone from scratch.

Well I would like to get a feel for it before that happens, so I can be ready to jump in head first. Any insight on how to get it running? I'm on Windows BTW.

Well Friday at the latest /evil.

Its not like its a massive secret what I am working on at the moment. The devs do their end, I do the funding and management.

There is however, a worthy project that everyone should look into while we are waiting.

http://devtome.com You can get paid to write articles (in devcoins) for your work.

And from now until May 31st. I will be giving away THIS item to the user with the most valid articles (no copypasta or cheating found in any way) and generated shares via writing articles. And as an added bonus, I will include 1 accessory for the prize of your choosing from the same site. So get to writing!

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=34586.0 - Devcoin thread on bitcointalk.org - you can ask questions here if something confuses you.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=129563.0 DVC Windows wallet.

https://www.devda.ch/ DVC Web wallet

After the 31st, I will contact unthinkingbit and ask him to notify me of the person with the most earned shares for valid articles. Then i will order your Prize + 1 accessory for the item of your choosing. And have it shipped directly to you. If you are outside the USA dont worry. I will receive it then reship it to you. Free shipping. I will cover it all. Also, please reply here to show you will be participating so I know who to keep an eye on Smiley I dont want to go back on the 31st and read all your threads at once to make sure they are legit. So last requirement is a simple registration on this forum.

Starts at midnight EST so in a little over 2 hours from now.

Is this for articles written after this starts? Or for articles written since the beginning of devtome?

Lol, starting from midnight, not since devtome.com started Tongue I think unthinkingbit or markm would win hands down.

You might want to try a lottery, provably fair based on either the bitcoin block chain or the hash of a megalotto result, because if it's for the most articles after a while it'll be obvious that most people don't have a chance, so the incentive would be gone.

Touche. Good point. Let us also have a drawing on the 1st of june. For a second of the same prize. Unthinkingbit would you do the honors for the random drawing of the winner. So one is a goal based prize and one just full luck. The article one is the only one with the free accessory. Lastly the users that are wanting to enter will have to have a sig on their account stating something about dvc. Lets brainstorm for that now. And that user must have at least 1 post per day all month. Sound fair?

I shall draw, maybe with:

or if someone has an automatic block chain lottery picker, I'll use that.

I don't see the benefit from posting for the sake of it, the articles are what make money and we're already accounting for them.
