Seems like vircurex is been hacked!
thanks for the info. do btc-e have any more coins left to add? (that's half-joking)

Yes, i was informed by kumala the chains  BTC/LTC/TRC are affected.

BTC Trace:
https://blockchain.info/address/1PWQJu9AskoXEBYMod1KqPE6TTG4VYNz1P
Thanks, although that's not really what I meant.

twobits: guess so, actually they told me wednesday they wouldn't be adding it. Should have truted your wallet with more as it goes, thanks for working on that btw.

Hello,
i just made my first article on great project devtome http://www.devtome.com/doku.php?id=cryptography .

I would like to ask how often is word counting script run? (i am curious if i will be counted for this round as there is block 88899 generated at the time of writing this Cheesy)

Also I found very chaotic that there is now topic title on article pages - is it bug or feature? I mean when I come to some devtome article I can't see huge title "My article name" at the top as it is on wikipedia, etc.

The devtome earnings will be calculated at block 89,150, instead of the expected 89,000.

The earnings used to be calculated two weeks before the receiver files start getting loaded by the clients to ensure that even if one of the three file administrators did not upload their file quickly, there would be enough time for them to eventually come back from vacation or whatever. Since we now have five administrators we can afford to have one go on vacation, and have one site down, and we'd still have 3/5 files working. So the earnings can be calculated a bit later.

Calculating the earnings later means that the shares will be diluted a bit, in the round that the switch is taking place. So to even out the dilution between rounds, the earnings calculation for round 23 will be at 89,150, and the calculation for round 24 will be at 93,300. The other reason the calculation is being delayed this round is to give the remaining people who have a devda address a bit more time to get a computer address. To that end, the receiver files will not be made until round 89,300, to give people another day to send me a new address.

Since the block number is currently 88,934:
http://devtome.com/doku.php?id=devcoin_block_explorer

that means the earnings will be calculated on Sunday May 12, and the receiver files will be made on Monday May 13.

thank you!! how are you funding this service?

Some of my devcoin payments (for seeding nodes) were recently converted to BTC and sold nearly at the highest price so I have no problem with the  funding of these instances for about 3 years Smiley

Half of these instances are small ones, half - micro, but even micro instances was perfectly stable for a long time with average CPU usage at few % and memory usage newer reached 90% with 20+ connections.

Micro instances are free for one year and later can be converted to bigger ones (or earlier if any micro ones appear to be not enough).

I assume that it will be more reasonable to have several average servers, that one or two more powerfull.

P.S. Just checked - micro (smallest one, can get a lot more for free) instance with 39 active connections to node using only 64% of available memory - it is appears that even micro instance can handle seeding node with ease. In any case they have perfect networking (downloading complete devcoin chain takes about 2-3 minutes) and pretty stable - that is the main point.

Hello, I've implement a ripple gateway for devcoin, thus you could deposit devcoin into your ripple accout as IOUs, or redeem IOUs back to your devcoin wallet, back and forth, further more, you could thus exchange your devcoins to any other currency such as BTC LTC USD and more!

the site located at: http://ripple.d.evco.in/, and the gateway address is r3gHXhK1pwZFG9ESiaosxjufEVQjwGuJUd

For those aren't familiar with ripple, be sure to trust the gateway address with adequate DVCs first, so you could receive desired amount.

Fees: No fee for deposit; 10 DVCs charged for every single redeeming, which required for devcoin network payment; exchange fees to other currencies are automaticly charged by ripple network, we do not charge exchange fees.

Warning: The site is on alpha testing and errors may occur at any time, so do not deposit too much devcoin.

I'd suggest you try DVC/XRP first, if it works, then we could know that bistamp sucks Smiley if not, I may have to adapt something ...

there's sample code from ripple foundation, but not work 'cause it's released january, I ajust some code so that it works. but I don't know if there is any other flaw so I label this service as alpha...

For the ripple exchange, Emfox gets the third exchange award. Because I don't know how many of the extra requirements it meets:
http://www.devtome.com/doku.php?id=devcoin_bounty_now#exchange

he'll get the basic award for now, which is four shares. When that is determined, which will be in the next round, he'll be awarded that as a top up.

I'm sure you've encountered some connection problem of ripple network, these days it became very busy. if something goes wrong, just relogin your ripple account and retry.

Thanks.

It's not a regular exchange as we know, instead, it's a anonymous exchange gateway. that is, one do not need to set up any account or password, he just provide an address (devcoin's or ripple's), sending or receiving DVCs or IOUs. We won't deal any of these password things Smiley

All the password, or security concerns ripple's account security, besides my gateway server security.

Man, I'm glad to see vircurex is up and running, I have a voucherX(USD) sitting at AurumXchange waiting to go to Vircurex to buy some iXcoins and some more Devcoins.

Anybody here have any opnions on Coinbase?  They only trade Bitcoin for now and I don't have any but they just got $5 Million funding from a Top VC so I expect them to leapfrog Vircurex soon.

Also, does anybody if the python word counter has ran yet?  I submitted all my articles by 5:55pm but I'm worried I missed the 23rd round and my wife is riding me about staying up all night writing articles for some imaginary coins.  lol, I tell her it's the future, bigger than dot com but that's not going over that well.  She thinks I'm playing video games on here when I'm spending back breaking hours writing as much pro digital currency articles I can.  I'm not lifting these virtual coins mind you, I just have a messed up back which hurts badly after sitting for hours at a time.

Finally, one-thousand THANK YOU's to Unthinkingbit for helping me out so much over the past 3 days.  This man spent pretty much his entire weekend answering tedious newbie questions about everything there is regarding devtome.  Thanks a lot, I truly appreciate it and in the future perhaps I can answer similar questions for anybody else here who is new at this.

Here's to hoping the python stayed in its cage until 5:59pm this evening and I made round 23. lol...  Take care guys and have what's left of a great weekend.

regards,

Vlad

Couple of problems here. Vircurex is an exchange. Coinbase is a webwallet that does deposits, they are not really competition for any of the exchanges. And yes unthinkingbit is awesome.
