And thought just popped up in my head... This is all just speculation, but intriguing nonetheless.

What if somebody sold something really expensive in EAC only? I'm talking about something like a property or luxury car.

I just counted the gyp.... cryptsy road up to 100 sat EAC price. It would take 65.92 BTC, didn't bother to count the amount of EAC.
So, if we'd have a person willing to sell a 29318.99 USD car for certain amount of EAC, we'd have the coin pumped up to 100 sat.
Had the buyer bought this EAC order:
37564443.27700450 EAC   4.13208876 BTC at 11 sat
before executing the buy-up of EAC needed, and he'd sell his way down with average value of 65 sat...
Target: 29k USD for car - bought as EAC, EAC value goes to 100 sat

1836.88 USD for
37564443.27700450 EAC   4.13208876 BTC at 11 sat

Sold at  65 sat average
24.46572173 BTC back
= 10881.53 USD

So whoop, this guy just bought  a 29K car with 19.5K.

Okay, that is not really realistic as it would require everything to happen instantly, but still a funny idea. Take it as a kind of thought play.
Imagine the same with something really expensive - 150K + USD.
Not advising to try the above unless you have a silly amount of USD you can afford to lose :p With the current coinmarketcap of 102,454 USD trades of 50K+ USD would have a tremendous impact on the price.

Would a quick pump of EAC value do any good for the coin in the long term? My short answer is: perhaps, but probably not that much. Trade adoption is the key IMO.
Long answer: nope, I'm leaving the argumentation for someone else now, time for a good nights sleep :p

Even in the event that an attacker gains more than 50% of the network's computational power, only transactions sent by the attacker could be reversed or double-spent. The network would not be destroyed.

Unlikely. I'll ask the wallet guys, but we're on a litecoin source. We were looking at going to the latest bitcoin core OR the latest litecoin. But neither has been completed yet, and our coders know their stuff, so I doubt this will be an issue in any way.

https://litecointalk.org/index.php?topic=18506.0

This is a security issue that should be taken care of immediately. EAC apparently uses openssl-1.0.1e which has this security issue. Many coins already fixed this issue by using openssl-1.0.1g.

we need to figure out a way to increase demand long term, short pumps end up hurting in the long run. We had a small pump a few weeks ago, now anyone who didn't get the chance to sell before the abrupt dump has their eac for sale, must likely at their purchase price, now there is tons of sell pressure.   We did just have a nice  1.17 btc but at 11 sat.

just listed a few homemade cards that the wife makes, easy to ship so why not, just having a difficult time with the price of eac being so low, given that shipping rates from Canada can be so high, adds a bit to the store anyway. not sure its the right customer base but can't hurt. Ill keep an open mind and see what else I got.

Lmfao, why bother. This coin is dead, you think it'll ever seen anything near the 1K satoshi highs? You're dreaming.

Why you keep writing EAC is dead? Don't you have other things to do? If you do not buy EAC, why you take part in this thread? What do you want to achieve? Interesting.... pump is coming and you want cheap coins?

You all seem so bullish about it, mind telling me why?

There is still a community, even if we only lurk. Smiley

Lmfao, what kind of community is that? Communities are groups of people with a common goal who actively work towards it. Lurking eliminates that second part.

I'd say the dev team is kind dead. Look at "earthcoin", he hasn't been online for a week, and hasn't posted for long time... I see only Biomech is active and I am not even sure he's from dev team.

+1 even if its unlikely for common users and their wallets to be attacked, it should be fixed

Sad but true:( Theres couple guys doing some work, thanks to them. But devs are quiet. They should give some info on whats going on.Silence is bad, really bad.
Nobody has guts to buy like we saw on that pump last week.I made 400k coins so that was good for me.Devs need to be more active if they havent give up yet.Soon we are on a situation when theres no buy orders. And then its too late.

Biomech should take charge of this coin.

Altcoinworld is so impatient that constant messaging and information from the dev team is really important - You have seen how moody people are, simple rumours and a bit of price manipulation might be enough to move a coin up/down in value significantly.
I believe there are things happening - But many don't have the trust and patience to wait for a week for an update. It takes less than 30 minutes to fall from the first page of threads here in Altcoin announcements.

That is true.I weekly update would do miracles, even when theres nothing new to tell.Atleast people would know that theres somebody behind all this.
Been here from the start and im not abandoning this coin even in this situation.i know 90% of coins have dropped.Cryptoworld is what it is.1 good news from bitcoin and everything is different.

I'm in and out due to personal problems. The earthcoin account it used mostly for official announcements and news. I have access to it, as do some others on the team. I usually just post under my own name, as it's easier to do and I can differentiate my own opinions from those of the rest of the team. I'm more or less the interface between the community and the devs Cheesy

No timeline = nothing.

The openssl security issue is an easy fix, just need to recompile with openssl1.0.1g, will take only 5 mins. Not sure dev is doing anything there. I think the coin is pretty much dead.

Our wallet guy is half a day out of sync with me Cheesy I'm waiting on him to come online and give me an answer one way or the other. I suspect he's working on it, but I'll keep y'all informed.

The client should likjely be compiled against openssl 1.0.1g for cautions sake but risk is very low for most. 0.9.0 added in the payment protocol which was a more serious point of attack.   The only people possible effected by this would be people using rpc over ssl which is not enabled by default.

Also, new version of the wallet is in testing. I should have more news on that in the next day or so. code base is the latest litecoin updates and does address the exploit.
