site & mining is DOWN!

Pretty sure he was just resetting.  DDOS doesn't usually leave a msg. Tongue
Unlike traditional banking where clients have only a few account numbers, with Bitcoin people can create an unlimited number of accounts (addresses). This can be used to easily track payments, and it improves anonymity.

I joined this pool about 1 week ago and was mining with two 4850 cards and just upgraded to two 5830 cards. Now that I have these newer cards all my blocks are slowly but surely being rejected. I was going to use poclbm miner but it dosent work with with bitcoin 0.3.22 for mining locally so I decided to stick with DiabloMiner for now. I am really new to mining so will it effect me if I don't have local mining or should I just stick with DiabloMiner till the problem with local mining is fixed?

It's bad when deepbit is close to 50%. Even close to 40% is bad thing.
Switched to another pool despite I'm loving deepbit.
Lemme know how that goes, I wanna jump off into BTCmine, However since thier so small i would expect to get paid far less since the pool grabs less blocks.

There are less blocks, but also less people to split it with. As long as the fee rate is lower (or zero) than Deepbit, you will always make more money long-term.

i moved to bitcoins.lc for about 28h and made only 0.07 BTC. now i was running deepbit again over night and i made 0.2 BTC. so i came back.

Your sample size is too small. A smaller pool will generate less BTC, but there also will be less people to share it with, so a greater individual share. No pool has a larger per-user reward than the rest. You need to give it more than a day (at least a week) to see how it averages out. Unless the fee rate is higher or the owner is cheating, you'll make the exact same amount over time as you would with Deepbit or any other legitimate pool. The only way you can boost your personal earnings is to throw more computing power into the pool.

...unless some of them become invalid (depends on percentage).

You know, because of all the hysteria with deepbit perhaps having more than 50% and with Tycho being the spawn of the devil and all that, I've tried to switch to a bunch of other pools. But you know what? None are as reliable as deepbit; deepbit's fee may be slightly higher but the fact that it's got a very high uptime and is run by someone competent nulls that fee out, and I keep coming back to deepbit because, damn, it offers the best service.

So thanks, Tycho! Smiley

New suggestion Tycho!
Can we get a Number of shares in the last hour or <averaging window> next to total shares for our workers?

It would be great for estimating hash rate, or general performance of each worker.
Mostly I want this so I have more information than, "no shares for 30min" when it turns red.

Thanks for your suggestion.
Will it be enough to show "Average hashrate since last counters reset to this moment", or you need to see it rolling constantly ?

Also you can change 30 minutes failure threshold individually for each worker.

I think that coding a widgets for:
1. Android
2. Symbian
3. Windows mobile

to observe the basic information will be great and useful.

Actually most mobile users are checking our site with iPhone  and Android communicators.
AFAIR we had ~8 visits with Windows Mobile, that's thousands of times less :(

I'm one of those

I log in 10-20 times a day via my Android phone to make sure all of my miners are still submitting shares... seeing as we dont have a notifier indicating when mining stops (nobody seems to have one that works) I just hit my bookmark'ed page with pw saved and go

If we had an android / iPhone app that set an alarm whenever a miner goes down, I'd be willing to pit like $1-2 to the app.....and this is coming from an Android user who would rather just not have an app instead of paying a dime for it. I also did buy LogMeIn Ignition, but that was for work purposes (its $30 for those who don't know it)...but ignition is just full of win and saved my life so many times so thats totally different

regardless, something as simple as (miner hasnt submitted a share in 10 minutes, trigger email to [address];[subject:MINER DOWN!])

I'm sure Tycho will get around to it sometime... but yes its a feature I yearn to have...and it would probably kill off a vast majority of arbitrary traffic to the site lol (mind you, it has to work, and i will test it lol)

It will give you a very low hashrate and there is a chance that you may face some overheating problems.

You can try to use Ufasoft's CPU miner for your CPU and rpcminer-cuda or poclbm for your GeForce, but I can't remember if this mobile chip is a GP-GPU or not.

Are you sure that your miner is working ? Is worker name blue or red on your account page ?
Do you use PPS or Proportional mode ?
