I really sorry if this has been listed before, but i have a question about masternodes.

I've been following CLOAK since it was first released and i mined DRK when it was first announced. I'm not interested in setting up a masternode but don't know exactly what is needed. I read through the OP but it doesn't have any requirements listed to set this up.

Can anyone recap what's needed to offer this, as well as the benefits (financially) of having it. Please keep in mind that i do not own ANY DRK as of right now.

Masternodes offer the service of anonymity, and get awarded 20% of all mining rewards. So thats about 576 DRK per day / total number MN's.

You need 1000 DRKs to be eligible for a MN. These are not locked away somewhere in a server. The server just gets activated through a local wallet setup, where you can then store the 1k DRK offline. You're also payed out to this address, so there is zero risk of someone hacking your server and stealing coins.. as there is nothing there. At any moment you can cash out the 1k without issues, as they are not "locked" in any way.

win win win situation.

That's pretty neat actually. I do have a few servers. I'll just need to purchase 1k coins... which is almost 10btc. yikes!

Thank you for the info. I appreciate it.

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, which will follow the rules of the network no matter what miners do. Even if every miner decided to create 1000 bitcoins per block, full nodes would stick to the rules and reject those blocks.

Today I am in the mood for some poetry:

Darkcoin is the greatest thing

While bitcoin thinks it can relax,
the darkcoin learns to hide its tracks.

Croutons Continuing Comedy Coding Cataclysm - Masternode Tools was upgraded to v.03 today, and introduces multithreaded p2p chat, although I'm still wrestling with the best way of exchanging encryption keys - that's where a simple keyserver running on MNs might come in handy...

Why am I bothering? Well an encrypted p2p chat app can be built up into an encrypted p2p darkmarket app once the basic machinery is in place... Wink

Does anyone have any contacts at Coindesk? An updated article about RC4 is needed, this should help DRK prepare for the upcoming update/rise.

Well currently error and exception handling are implemented in the form of a nearby fire extinguisher it's true, but 'malware?'  Sad

I've posted this before a few months ago... but bumped into it accidentally so had to share...  Grin

----

It's Dark in Here

A woman takes a lover during the day, while her husband is at work.

One day, her 9-year-old son hides in the closet during one of her romps. Her husband comes home unexpectedly, so she hides the lover in the closet.

The little boy says, "It's dark in here."
The man whispers, "Yes, it is."
Boy - "I have a baseball."
Man - "That's nice."
Boy - "Want to buy it?"
Man - "No, thanks."
Boy - "My dad's outside."
Man - "OK, how much?"
Boy - "$250."

In the next few weeks, it happens again that the boy and the mom's lover end up in the closet together.

Boy - "It's dark in here."
Man - "Yes, it is."
Boy - "I have a baseball glove."
Man - Remembering last time, asks, "How much?"
Boy - "$750."
Man - "Fine."

A few days later, the father says to the boy, "Grab your ball and glove. Let's go outside and toss the baseball."

The boy says, "I can't. I sold them."

The father asks, "How much did you sell them for?"

The son says "$1,000."

The father says, "It's terrible to overcharge your friends like that. That's way more than those two things cost. I'm going to take you to church and make you confess."

They go to the church and the father makes the little boy sit in the confession booth and he closes the door.

The boy says, "It's dark in here."
The priest says, "Don't start that crap again!"

Thank you kindly.  Long time believer, just took me a while to grow the DRK.  Made a few mistakes on the way but somehow got more things right than wrong.

+1

For the record, I'm not pointing people to Amazon specifically. The thing is, hard to beat 1 year free service. People come to me already with a VPS account. Only two or three asked for my opinion. Due to their own judgment, they ended up with amazon, vultr and florkinet.

An understandable issue, but not problematic, IMHO

Never said it was or wasn't....

But it kinda hard to come to this page while at work and/or when the kid is sitting around me.
And people don't need to bust my balls b/c I come here at work - you don't know what I do or what I can do at work....so

EDIT: and the pix by lonecrouton -almost looks to young - borders on child porn <18 - at least you put real women up :-P

Wow, aren't you a little overprotective / overreacting here?

Anyways, I was testing the waters, since lonecroutons last posts made me believe that the situation has cooled down a little.
I was wrong. No problem with that... I now move along. Smiley

Can i get a valid argument to not use AWS?
Because that's where mine currently is......

Please don't PM the reply - everybody should see it
Do you think that having the majority of the network with one company is a good idea ?
Just because it is cheaper ?

By the way, there are companies on this list that have a monthly fee of 2 dollars and you can pay in bitcoins.

Can you give me a valid argument then why everybody should sign up with amazon ?

Edit: also If they already accept bitcoins it is easy to convince them to accept DRK, I did that with my VPS provider (flokinet.is)

Never said everybody should sign-up with one Company.
But your words imply that this would some how centralize the process, which is not true.
A single MN on a single server would very much so be centralized.
There are MN's all over the world.
I just dont like that one company hosts 43,6% of the network.
Thats all im saying. Diversification is a good thing in my mind.
