If the NSA shuts down my nodes. Good luck. I can have them back up and running in a country of my choice in a few hours. Don't see the issue.

Once the amazon 12 month free offer is over. Expect the distribution to be vastly different.

The Bitcoin network protocol was designed to be extremely flexible. It can be used to create timed transactions, escrow transactions, multi-signature transactions, etc. The current features of the client only hint at what will be possible in the future.

Etherium is basically just NXT with some homebrew scipting language built in that makes it easy to create apps that both the developer and the user have to go on paying to use, endlessly.

Thats one way to look at it.

Another way is that it could just blow everything to kingdom come because it completely liberates the transport layer from the functional layer.

And how does it do that any better than a python or ruby app using tcp or udp or any other transport layer? It just means you're platform restricted and lose access to thousands of tried and trusted libraries. While paying for the ongoing privilege.

Plus, the more Etherium that's bought now in the iPO, the less 'valuable' everyone's already-bough chunk becomes.

From either a developer, user, or investor perspective it's like shooting yourself in the head from three different directions at once.

PS. It IS possible for us to follow multiple coins. That's not a bad thing.

So if Amazon kills all masternodes, we still have >50% of masternodes running. That's more than 400 MN's as it stands today. What's the issue? I don't see it.

If Amazon kills masternodes, that doesn't matter or harm Darkcoin or its users at all. People would just simply move their nodes elsewhere.

But if Amazon allows authorities to access hundreds of masternodes we would never know about it, and they could spy on the network silently with whatever % success, however small % but still.

We are still probably flying under the radar, but if/when DRK goes "mainstream" we have to assume it's gonna change. After the 12 month free Amazon deals expire that's probably a good time to look for alternative operators.

I want to start a MN.

Set up a remote MN, and drop me externalip and masternodeprivkey.

I will use the NM as remote.

By the way, reward  will be paid to my cold wallet address.

It doesn't.

It's just that it's the first "crypto" that is purpose built as a generic host for blockchain applications. Or, put another way, it's the first time there's been a "Ruby" or "Python" in existence.

Most of the "coins" that have gone before can potentially be defined with a few lines of code in etherium and launched as a distinct "coin" or application, but without having to host itself and worry about having its own blockchain infrastructure.

Don't get me wrong - there are plenty of challenges for it, like security, but if it works it will definitely change the face of crypto IMO. It is technically the way forward.

Antennae must remain perked.

I'm self employed freelancer with barely any real work, in a country that was financially raped to the ground by the European Central Bank, the IMF and f*cking Moody's and Standard's & Poors

I used to be friends with a bloke that sold financial instruments at UBS (Small swiss investment bank).  When the complex products first came out (Credit Default Swaps) etc and the market was making a killing (100-150 basis points) on each instrument, here's what they used to do.

They used to bribe the likes of Standard and Poors/Moody's, have a look at their rating algorithm's, and tweak their products in the right places to give them a AAA credit rating.  They would sell these instruments for Millions, knowing full well that they were toxic, with a AAA credit rating...

When it went south and the instrument collapsed, get this, UBS would offer to "re-structure" a client's portfolio, for additional fees...

The sales guys used to call it "Double Dipping" and they would get massive bonuses for it.

And NSA being NSA, they're doing it already for sure. Just because we type NSA, this will ring bells somewhere. Because its a crypto that is 3# mineable or #5 whatever... they are looking at it.

Makes no sense at all to knock DRK down. They'd be the first to use it to be even more illegally covert. At best, try to snoop end users. I'm sure they full at it.

Even money can be traced with serial number, fingerprints and chemical tagging. It makes much more sense to leave it be and try snoop, than go after Masternode OPs that have done absolutely nothing illegal, until they actually make DRK illegal on US soil.

You'd have to be paying a shitload of interest to make it appealing to any existing MN operator.

I'll rent you the profits from one of my MN's for 50DRK/month.
