following seems to have happened :

An account at Mintpal was hacked without 2FA .  This account had 100 BTC in Cloak , this was sold , then also MYC was sold and they bought with all BTC DRK.
This DRK got withdrawn from Mintpal.

EDIT : fixed MYR to MYC

MYC history says it was a buy

weird, i'm basing it on this info btw found on the ANN Cloak thread :

This is MYC history

he (or she) worked this way:
own account: by a small amount of MYC, put sell order really high (120sat)
hacked account: sell all cloak, buy with btc MYC until 120 sat
own account: freshly new BTC trade for DRK => withdraw DRK
probably traded to dark to bypass "huge amount btc withdraw"-watchdog.

as far I can see... the hacker bought MYC for about 7 BTC (until 10sat)
4 minutes later a buy (from hacked account) until 120 sat

ahh, that explains a lot, i wasnt totally getting how it worked as they couldnt get to the emailverification of the hacked account.

Thanks for explaining it.

Reminds me of the c-cex hack back in Feb/March causing Darkcoiners endless agony but lucky to pick up cheap Darkcoins.

also looks like there is a typo in the above explanation. Should be,

Quote
as far I can see... the hacker bought MYC for about 7 BTC (until 100sat)

MYC was a Chinese scam and all this MYC engagement indicates the hacker is most likely from China.

Darkcoin just cannot stay out of trouble in one way or another. I don't know what else to say. As usual the Cloakcoin thread is bashing Darkcoin for all this. It is a trend since the last run up throughout BTCTalk, blame Darkcoin for everything and anything  Huh. In fact I might open a parody thread in the Alt subforum.

i dont think there is a typo here.. just check at Mintpal the recent market history : buy price went up from 8 sat (16:14) to 130 sat (16:40)

edit : i see what you mean .. yr right.. suspect typo there too

i for myself as cloakholder would not blame drk for it .... my guess drk is the target because of its high volume... so its easy for him to resell the drk on other exchanges for btc. the hacker probably gives a shit about anons at all ^^

****** Please Update To 10.12.11 or 9.12.11 *******

More progress! I'm moving on to testing the voting system, then I think we're ready to launch. Let me know if there's anything else that needs to be addressed with Darksend.

- Darksend Denominate Outputs are now in a random order:

http://test.explorer.darkcoin.fr/tx/072ca56cbf705b87749513a2d2ee02080d506adcf8fe178f6dc2967f0711788e

- Darksend now uses 3 participants instead of two.
- SplitUpMoney can now make collateral inputs when needed
- Transactions now shows darksend transaction types for easier understanding of what's going on:

- Fixed a couple more cases where collateral was charged when it shouldn't have happened (let me know if it happens after this version)
- Fixed the money destruction bug, it was caused by "darksend denominate 8000". I missed a reference and the client passed an empty address to SendMoneyToDestination. rcp darksend source: http://pastebin.com/r14piKuq
- Unlocking/Locking wallet fixes (was spamming the logs)
- Unencrypted wallet fixes (was trying to lock every 10 seconds)
- Flare found and fixed an issue with DGW3 for win32

More likely dark was used to wash the coins anonymous. I guess that's the dark side of anon coins.. uh.

Crazzy story. But I have to say I just learnt something new that I didn't know.

Well look at this way, we had a failed (pretty much right?) RC3 and we hit 70m cap. If everything that has been mentioned in RC4 rolls out and works, I'm thinking that we might surpass this cap and go much further, don't you too?
Agreed. Perhaps some confidence was lost after RC3, but that slight loss in confidence will be compensated by epic new features in RC4. I wouldn't be surprised if we surpassed $100m cap. Also the failure of other anonymous coins the past weeks will work in our advantage.

DS+ in RC4 is working very well on testnet. Just a few minor UI niggles to tidy up.

As for the competition, all the bytecoin clones have big issues and the rest are pure vapourware.

Darkcoin works.  Smiley

With RC4 going live soon, and the ability to launder multi-thousand DRK amounts, fungibility of these coins will not be an issue (like it would be with stolen BTCs). So yeah, DRK was a good choice by the hacker...

Well we are waiting for it on the mainnet. I guess we should expect it in a week or two? They have said early August.
We shall see an insane spike on interest here. If it were up to me I'd make a small portion (but important one) closed source, to prevent copies.  Wink

2nd "WHO AM I?" DarkSend+ testnet game: 9 DS+ rounds.

The first one was a real success revealing DS+ exploits. Get me, guys!

Smiley

edit: and when it's open sourced, good luck to anyone trying to copy and paste one thousand Masternodes.
Well we are waiting for it on the mainnet. I guess we should expect it in a week or two? They have said early August.
We shall see an insane spike on interest here. If it were up to me I'd make a small portion (but important one) closed source, to prevent copies.  Wink

I expect RC4 within a few days. Darksend+ is finished.
