What is RC4?
I remember RC cola, kind of like coca cola

RC4 is Darkcoin with something special integrated, probably kind of Dr. Pepper with vanilla taste I would say:)

Why are people thinking that there is a cheaper alternative when the node pays for itself in a day or two or three, that leaves the rest of the month with pure profit.
I cant believe that people are that cheap.
This is a revolutionary thing we are all participating in.. really? And you want to save a few dollars.
Man ...
It's lack of inertia. When one VPS gets compromised then people will move. Until then, people will tend to go for the cheapest option. Humans are not fully logical beings.

@Icebucket - if you have the fiat to invest, with no worries, then hows about you invest in supporting a few folks a little less fortunate then yourself - I only invest with what I can afford and try to help others along the way. I thought we were having a civil conversation but then you had to insult me - really? - Go fuck yourself mate..

@Ozziecoin - If you have so much wisdom and logic why not write a book? I guess you got it all figured out and living the dream right?

Oh Mangled, that's why I don't hang out here too much anymore.  It got to you I see.  Hope you'll be over at Darkcointalk though?  It gets to me too.  When it does, I just kinda go away for a while.  On top of that, I've said stupid things too on the forum, usually not making my point correctly, (especially when I've had some wine with dinner, I'm such a lightweight, LOL.)  So you also have to remember communication is pretty craptastic even in the best circumstances Tongue  Hope you'll feel better soon Wink  ::hugs::

lets stop the bickering, since we are all here to support this awesome project. Obviously, not everyone will get along, but as long as people respect one another, everything is good.

what's the logic of the guy or bot on cryptsy buying 0.001 drk a time for hours and hours ?

2014-08-03 06:25:32   Buy   0.00968498   0.00100000   0.00000968
2014-08-03 06:25:19   Buy   0.00968499   0.00100000   0.00000968
2014-08-03 06:25:02   Buy   0.00968499   0.00100000   0.00000968
2014-08-03 06:24:49   Buy   0.00968510   0.00100000   0.00000969
2014-08-03 06:24:35   Buy   0.00968511   0.00100000   0.00000969

it goes on and on.

Does it save a few satoshis after buying 1000 x 0.001 DRK in costs (compared to buying 1 x 1 drk ) or something? Cheesy

Mate, I am running at a considerable loss as it is. I only speak for myself, you may not believe it but I only own 75% of 1 MN. My other 2 are from private investors. You have no idea what I went through after the last fork and the price plummeted.\\

I'm self employed freelancer with barely any real work, in a country that was financially raped to the ground by the European Central Bank, the IMF and f*cking Moody's and Standard's & Poors

You are right. This IS a revolution I am proud to be part of, where you do not need to be rich to have an impact. I dont bitch about my financial situation, I stand up and do something about it, every single day.. and absolutely every single euro does add up to help me pay for next months rent. So that I dont need to CASH OUT DRKs to make end's meet.

And I DO NOT promote Amazon. To each, his own. Why dont you go bitch to chaeplin about his extensive use of Amazon and tutorials? Or even Evan, as he uses it too, extensively.

So go facepalm yourself all day long, you arrogant prick.

How can you be running at a loss?  Huh

You only need 2 MN payments a month to be in profit.

Shitcoin Tycoon: A Text Misadventure.

You are at January 2014. Darkcoin is launching.
You can mine it right now just like everyone else.

What do you want to do now?

> IGNORE DARKCOIN
Time passes...
The Darkcoin gold rush has arrived.
You hear tales of great riches, adventure and invention in the world of anonymous coins.
A million shitcoins have arrived.

> INVENT
You don’t know how to do that.

> INVENTORY
You have 2 faces.
You have 10 sock puppets.
You have no conscience.

> LOOK
You are beneath Evan’s feet. Evan’s shoes are here.
DarkSend is way over your head.

> FILL SHOES
You can’t fill Evan’s shoes.

> STEAL DARKSEND
You can’t do that, yet.

> ENTER BITCOINTALK
It is dark here. You are in a world of spam.
You are surrounded by stupidity, broken promises & tears.
Some dumb trolls are here.
Some copypaste donkeys are here, eating paper and shitting shitcoins.

> BUY DONKEY
You feed $50 to a copypaste donkey.
The ass makes you a shitcoin.

> GET PAPER FROM DONKEY
You pull a white paper out of your ass.

> BUY TROLLS
You pay 0.1 shitcoins for 1000 trolls.

> SAY ANONYMOUS
You get some attention.

> USE MEANINGLESS BUZZWORDS
You get more attention.

> USE SOCKPUPPETS
You pump shit with your socks.
You attract a crowd.

> USE TROLLS
Everyone feeds your trolls, drawing attention to your shitcoin.
Your shitcoin is now in a bubble.

> TAKE DUMP
You are now rich in bitcoin.
Your shitcoin is now worth shit.
The shattered dreams of your faithful believers are here.

> GET BITCOINS FROM CRYPTSY
Some hackers are here, with your bitcoins.

> TAKE LIFE
You don’t have a life.

Great! its just what happens Smiley

Not my node, but I consider the other 2 "mine" as they're under my authority. I got into DRK at 0.00016, they got in at 0.022 right before the last fork.

Profit, used in that sense, is extremely relative. Once over that buy in number, then yes, we're on the same page.

In the near future, 1/8th of 1 payment will be profit.

Looks like a bot trying to keep the price down, but without knowing how it's programmed and why, who knows?

A lot of people will just check the latest price at the top of the exchange page, or use coinmarketcap or coinwarz or something which just reports the last trade price, so constantly buying the lowest ask or whatever can influence goldfish brained ADD crypto types.

And two bots working together, one selling and the other buying, can move the price anywhere they like if the bots have access to enough funds and the overall market volume is low enough.

Never said everybody should sign-up with one Company.
But your words imply that this would some how centralize the process, which is not true.
A single MN on a single server would very much so be centralized.
There are MN's all over the world.
I just dont like that one company hosts 43,6% of the network.
Thats all im saying. Diversification is a good thing in my mind.

You shouldn't worry about Amazon actually. Besides they are hosted in different parts of the world.

The issue is, a powerful three-letter-acronym from a police state can just say the word to Amazon and they roll over and give access to their virtual machines, no matter where they are located. That's why eventually we need people to use more independent service providers.

Maybe he didn't go about in the most diplomatic fashion but I think he is absolutely right.

Advising that everyone should set up MNs according to their own priorities is ok to a certain extent but it's not necessarily in the best interests of darkcoin for everyone to do that. Hypothetically, if a hosting provider offered 5 years of free unlimited hosting surely it would be in the best interests of most masternode holders to sign for a service which costs nothing. Would it be in the best interests of darkcoin for every maternode to be hosted with the same provider? Absolutely not.

A look at http://drk.poolhash.org/mnode.html shows that close to 44% of masternodes are hosted with Amazon. Sure they're in different locations but they still belong to the same entity. 20% belonging to Choopa (Vultr) is quite a lot too. Are Darkcoin's masternodes truly decentralised? Perhaps, but if everone signed up to a service just because it were free, the masternode network would be basically centralised, regardless of whether the nodes are hosted by the same entity in one country, or different countries. Because while network issues could be technical, there could also be legal or political issues.

I put it to you that not everyone is acting purely out of self interest when they select their masternode host. No doubt there are those who are struggling to pay the bills but I seriously doubt that is most people who own masternodes. Each one is currently valued at about $5 500.

The Masternode network should be more decentralised and that is the responsibilty of the Masternode owners.

Just about everyone is going to roll over when they get a knock at the door from the spooks or the guvthugs.

Ultimately we need MNs that can handle dynamic IPs and can intelligently mesh. That would be technology in demand...
