I am aware of dash it's recent (evolution) roadmap update, and it's plan to do on-chain scaling and I am all for that, but there are also technics such as thin-blocks, that seem to have no down-side for on-chain scaling.
There are multiple good idea's/technics that add benifits to a crypto that wishes to have a fully transparent blockchain. Yet I never really hear the dash team say, anything about it, I would have expected to hear things like: "We know that thin blocks work great for bitcoin, and because they here are only upsides we will implement it, or something like that". It sometimes seems to me like the DASH core team is only busy with there own vision, and do not take the input of other great idea's even do they are available in open-source code. I know the dash team is very busy and is keeping the white-paper of dash evolution internal for the time being.

My question is simple is DASH keeping it's ear to the ground, and picking up these low-hangfruits, or do they (currently) have their blinders on focusing on evolution?

I dont get how the massive "pre mine" bug does not deter people from this coin....

I mean it could have been relaunched without the bug!

No it couldn't.  Once the bug was found many Darkcoin/Xcoin had already exchanged hands, that is people paid for them.  By killing the project at that point would have meant hurting a lot of people.

It couldn't be done, period, not without alienating and hurting a ton of people.

I don't understand why that is so hard for people to understand.  It was what it was, and certainly by now, it's all been priced in.

If you can't understand that, get beyond that, and see Dash for the amazing vision and work that has gone into it because of the very man that made the mistake in the first place (brilliance, ability to gather the most amazing team around him, and continues to lead us in his amazing visions) Then I simply can't help people like you.  Keep looking for perfection.  As in the Hamilton musical... "wait for it" baby!

The most important thing is that you loose the ability to easily prove and authenticate electronic contracts and transactions.  In fact there is no alternative at the moment and undoubtedly, any solution would be clunkier and take up more space, or possibly impossible to do reliably with segwit.

With segwit, people could save the segregated witness "chain" of signatures, but very few would, making the authenticity of the information vulnerable.  Why would very few do this?  Because the data costs money to store, and nobody is paid to do this.  Even if a lot of people happily do this today (doubtful - probably only a fraction of current full nodes will. Full nodes are at the same time shrinking due to the cost of running full nodes) These few nodes will be vulnerable to attack.

Bitcoin Core is hamstringing themselves for a quick buck (they hoped and now can't back out) by centralizing with Lightening Network and SegWit.  It may "work", that is, not be attackable on the main blockchain, as it is now, but it will not "work" in smart contracts and other legal needs of people/businesses (nothing to do with the NSA/governments)

Check this awsome commentary on reddit for the full politics surrounding the flawed economics and Segwit/BTC scaling, why they don't want to natively scale it etc.

TL;DR Version:
Blockchain loading isn't a linear function. You can get huge backlogs interspersed by smooth operation across the board on a stop-start basis and therefore the much vaunted "fee market" is an unrealistic illusion.

Thanks TanteStefana2,

I agree with you on that on, the witness data is an important part of bitcoin.
This video explains it very well:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hO176mdSTG0&t=01 Peter Rizun

I understand allot of technics have both negative and positives, and allot of them that get immense praise (including segwit), break the most fundamental rule of remaining a trust-less network.
None the less, there are some idea's that do not take away from that at all.  Thin-blocks properly implemented is one of them

The Dash Expansion at Skatopia Proposal Review - Dash Force News

Skatopia is an eighty-eight acre skatepark near Rutland, Ohio owned and operated by pro skater Brewce Martin. Skatopia is known for its anarchist atmosphere and annual music festivals Bowl Bash and Backwoods Blowout.  It was described by one writer as “a demented mess that meets halfway between an anarchistic Mad Maxian Thunderdome and a utopian skateboard society.”  Check out wikipedia for a history.

The Skatopia website now sports a “Dash Digital Cash” banner.  The Dash masternode owners funded a major sponsorship of the “Bowl Bash” on June 16 – 25 and a new skating bowl in a prime location at the park.

I don't get this part: Greg said:"when the block rewards dwindled, miners would undercut each other's transaction fees until they all went bankrupt"

That makes absolutely no sense.  Miners don't compete with each other to serve via transaction fees, they do so by solving a mathematical equation.  They can set a minimum fee, and not accept lower, but it has NO affect on how often they win the block reward.  If Greg really said this, then his entire thinking is off.

Agreed, and there is the possibility of others coming up with better solutions.  I don't think Dash Core would ever shun away from real progress.  If if it's good, and doesn't clash with Dash's vision/function, it'll be implemented.  I have no doubt nor worry on that account Smiley

Crypto Recovery? Market Gains $12 Billion, Dash Back Over $1 Billion

The cryptocurrency markets appear to be in recovery mode, gaining back $12 billion in valuation over the last day, including Dash passing back over the $1 billion mark.

Over the last week, the cryptocurrency markets experienced quite a tumble, taking a hit from $88 billion a week ago to a recent low of $60 billion over the weekend. This is an especially significant drop from about three weeks ago when the combined market cap of all cryptocurrencies was still $115 billion, supported by very high interest in Ethereum. The current recover stands at approximately $72 billion, which is $12 billion higher than the weekend low, but still $16 billion short of last week’s high

Dash back past $1 billion, hoping to end a crazy month on a high note...

Sure, look for the cuda cgminer.  If you're asking if you'll be able to pay for the energy, I doubt it???  But hey, it's fun!

Give in to Crypto Trolls or Troll Back? Neither

The cryptoverse is rife with hostility and trolling. One of the main arguments I’ve heard against countering trolls is that doing so just sinks to their level. While this is not necessarily true, it does touch on a very important point: don’t trolling back. There’s a significant difference between responding in order to counter trolls and engaging in trolling yourself. Here’s why the latter is a really bad idea.

Trolls don’t troll because they have the intellectual upper hand
