They do chart it on the site. I could try to snag the value from that but it would be easier through the API. Anyone know if it is possible to get or calculate the PPLNS Pool Luck via the API?
I spoke with eleuthria and the local math wizard organofcorti and they both confirmed there is no easy way to precisely confirm the pool luck, which is a deal braker for me. I guess it is just a psychological barrier for me to join a pool, where I cannot verify one of the main factors that determine how much I earn.

I would love to see a page with proofs of work for each block. Then it would be easy to calculate luck.

It's impossible for any pool to be "above average" luck consistently. If you're looking for the perfect pool with consistent better than average luck, good luck finding it, because it doesn't exist! Ok, so a quick check of coinbase signatures shows that BTC Guild solved 3218 blocks since October 26th (the earliest date on the chart and the date from which I assume the average "luck" is being calculated). The probability density of average luck: http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=erlang+distribution+3218%2C+3218which is clearly closely centred on 1.0, with little deviation. The average "luck" from the chart is 103.24%. I'm assuming that this equates to 100/103.24 d1 shares / network difficulty. If you calculate the CDF of this: http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=CDF%5BErlangDistribution%5B3218%2C+3218%5D%2C+0.9686168%5Dyou get 0.0364 - that is only 3.64% of the time would you get luck as good as (or better than) this. However, it's still not that unlikely and it's within a 95% confidence interval. Edit: I know this doesn't address your main concern being that "luck" is not easy to check for yourself, I just thought you and others might be interested to know how likely/unlikely it was.

where I cannot verify one of the main factors that determine how much I earn would have earned if I were to have been mining at that pool at that time.
FTFY Knowing past "luck" tells you nothing about future "luck".

Unable to connect as of this morning Whats going on ? Have emailed support also and no reply. Been mining a long time. I only have 10ghs but it all adds up in the end. There was a windows defender update but should not effect this. Have been running stable months with cgminer 3.7.2 Any help welcome. Regards

Can anybody remember the backup pool details from a few months back so I can give that a go. I used to have it as my failover.

FTFY Knowing past "luck" tells you nothing about future "luck". Nothing to fix. I wrote about luck in general, being a factor that determines income.

PM sent. Confirmed stratum.btcguild.com and eu-stratum.btcguild.com are showing dead. I'm on the backup address. M

Ended up deleting cgminer 3.7.2 and re installing from backup zip. All works again now. Very odd as has been rock solid for a very long time. 2hrs lost mining though uncertain if support sorted it or I did

Backend servers weren't affected by any outages, so unless you were starting up new hardware/restarting miners there shouldn't have been anything wrong. If there was, it was not on the pool's end. BTC Guild uses a frontend filtering server which is used for new connections, but once proven to be valid miners you are no longer connected to those servers.
I do see a drop in the bandwidth on both the EU and US frontend filtering servers this morning. It may have been a DNS issue with cloudflare, or possibly an attack at the datacenter where those filters are run. Neither server appears to have been the actual target of any attacks however (no massive flood of connections/bandwidth usage).

Switch to PPS and you don't have to deal with luck. Period. (My preferred way is to put 3/4 workers on PPLNS and 1/4 workers on PPS)

My issue was that I took one of my units/workers offline this morning to swap a fan and left the other one running. The one I left running has been fine but I couldn't reconnect the one I swapped the fan on for a few hours and even then I could connect back using the eu address but not the USA one. So it makes sense for what you are describing. They are both back working for me now.

I think the pool operator needs to hire someone to help him out. I also have been experiecing some connection issues myself. Take some of those fees you take from us and hire an expert for some contracting work. Make them sign a disclosure agreement and just get everything back up and running %100 again. You don't use the free service of cloudflare, do you? I hope you at least have CloudFlare business. Anything less doesn't have any protection really.
