Suggestions needed: In one week (OctoDay - 8/8 [and now they know why I was first attracted to OctoCoin]) I will be turning 50! I usually do a birthday week where I do next to nothing except drink beer, eat, sleep... and piss the wife off. I don't understand why she doesn't like me bringing new "friends" (hint: women) home from the pub. Really, my wife is a saint for having put up with my shenanigans for over 29 years. Being that this year is a milestone, what should I do for my birthday? A birthday month maybe too much to ask as I did not even do a full week last year; although, the thought has crossed my mind. Anything goes... I may not do it, but don't let that stop you from suggesting it, because I might.

Since getting into Cryptocurrency I've had many bags, all but two have varied over time. Those are the two I see in the mirror where my eyes once shone.

We understand everybody is anxiously awaiting the next update - we are preparing the beta release of our first OctoHub app and hope to have it live before August 1st. Once it is released, the wait between other releases will be considerably shorter as we are working on a number of projects simultaneously...
Where is the update?

I have a purely speculative question to you guys...in the long run, what prices do you thing Octo will achieve? Just curious, since the prices keep fluctuating very much and my market trade history spikes up and down. Regardless...I'm planning on holding my stash of Octos

I have a purely speculative question to you guys...in the long run, what prices do you thing Octo will achieve? Just curious, since the prices keep fluctuating very much and my market trade history spikes up and down. Regardless...I'm planning on holding my stash of Octos It may feel like a lot of fluctuation but in reality this is one of the most price stable altcoins that has been around. The price has held steady since the release of the coin in March. That is really good when it's strictly based on a good dev team, an active community and potential success from 8 apps. I haven't seen another coin really stay this stable. I mean it has stayed between .002 cents and a little over a penny the whole 6 months. That's not bad support for such a long time when you haven't had any of the apps released and also had some long moments where the devs weren't posting updates frequently. You also lost a large amount of volume when a well known exchange was robbed of Blackcoins, went bust, sold to new owners and now has disappeared until a recent beta exchange and promise of re launch. I mean Bittrex has done a great job of keeping Octo going the last few months and really turned into a decent exchange while we have been there. When I started buying Octo, I expected to reach and maintain of at least 50 cents to a dollar once you see the apps releasing and updating. I do think there is potential for much higher numbers and if we reach them then great. I buy like they will reach a dollar and that's what my return will be. There have been plenty of coins reach $5-$45 that surprised everyone. Peercoin, Litecoin, Blackcoin, Auroracoin, Darkcoin and Anoncoin are some examples. Granted they didn't maintain these prices forever but it shows that you could have a Darkcoin moment and be selling some of your coins all the way up to $16 and back down to $5 which would definitely be huge gains for us all. You can't count on that but the potential is there. Darkcoin set between 30 cents and $1.50 forever before it's rise. It's a risk/reward basis and I think that Octo will pay off in the long run. Technically at the prices we have bought at it could hit and maintain 10 cents and we all profit 10x plus which isn't a bad investment... We will see soon. Let's just hope we can get some good returns before March of next year so we can all celebrate in Vegas!

I've been in the Altcoin-market for 6 months now and I never had such a good feeling about a coin (besides the established ones). I really hope Octo will be a game changer and deliver some great software/apps that give the Altcoin-scene sth. to be proud of...and restore my faith in this great technology Right now I'm really fed up with most of the Altcoin-scene and "shitcoins" since it's become a total joke! There is so much potential for digital currencies besides only trading it for BTC!

There is so much potential for digital currencies besides only trading it for BTC! Some of it is a joke. Some of it is one and done P n D schemes. But there's a lot of good ideas in the alt scene. Some are great ideas. Some are also poor execution. People get in such a rush and cave to pressure from buyers and investors. I think Octo is different cuz they said from the beginning it wouldn't be a P n D. We have yet to see huge dumps from anyone including investors. Yes there were some minor ones like the one this week and there were issues with the multipools but they have faired through all of those. I think slow n steady n quality will be a winner. Octo has the potential. If you build an ecosystem that is user and business friendly there is always potential. You don't have to be the best or the newest, you just have to have the whole quality package where all the apps work well together. It will be exciting to see how that turns out here.

With all these runnings Devs atm it would be a huge boost in trust to release an annouced update right on time. Just saying.

yeah, i know that we have possibly the best/nicest community in crypto, but i can't help but wonder that if we were more vocal about seeing some results that we might have more in front of us. We had a "hopefully before Aug 1st" date most recently set, and that's now come and gone. For a coin that launched in March, like virginia slims, we've come a long way baby. We deserve a break. It's more than about time to get some results, if indeed there's been 6+ members working on this project for the past 4.5 months, then there should be some VERY significant progress that's been made. look at what Cloak has managed to accomplish in just a month, with a 7-man team they've totally taken over with not only new products and services being released frequently, they even have new services being announced just as frequently, keeping investors on the bandwagon. We need that with octo. We have no buzz, we need to start beating that drum or we're going to be old news before we've even broken any news. A 6-month old scrypt coin? yawn. Call me cynical, but i'm talking as an investor in octocoin, as all of you are, this comes from a good place, tough love as it were. I know we're all friends, but business is business. Not like i could dump if i wanted to because we have zero volume. People talk about a "big dump" the other day, really? that was like 10,000 coins? that's a big dump? there's over 35,000,000 coins already mined, we should be able to take a 10,000 coin dump every few weeks without making it a thing. This is indicative that we're stagnating, and we need some upward momentum. we need it like Vin Diesel needs another fast and furious movie, desperately. At this point, i'm not even sure that 1 service being released would even do anything, if after 4.5 months 1 service comes out that's good, but not spectacular, then it could come off as ho-hum. I'd almost say start stacking services/products right now, and release like 4 of them at once, then DESTROY THEM with a co-ordinated multi-strike PR campaign, then release another 4 in the future (assuming the 8 thing). quit pussyfooting around. let's see some goods. your octofriend, slickypoo p.s. to the guy that made the wallpapers, i've finally found something to replace the Shepard Fairey octo remix with, i went with green velour, vrry nice

So I've found something to do while I wait for octocoin news... Captcoin. The distribution method is for people to do captchas in order to get some coins, this makes it time intensive rather than electric/investment intensive. If anyone fancy's harvesting some before the block halving and wants a 5% bonus as well feel free to use my referral link http://hpm5fii0.CAPTcoin.comNot much new news on the glasses, we're waiting for the glass blower's shiny stock to arrive so she can get to work on the awesome, and we're still working the final designs on the etched work. I hope everyone has bought their cheap 888's now, because the glasses will be much more expensive (in fiat terms) once the 888 price jumps :-) Soon tm

well, i hate being on this eternal "hope-wheel"
however I do hope that the gang have prepared some BIG releases and PR on 8/8/2014 which is in 5 days.
would be a squandered opportunity to miss it imo.
