That last over costed 16 runs to Sri Lanka and may be a thing that went in favor of Aus as they won the match after a thrilling encounter. The rule is good to keep the pace of the game and stop the team for slowing down the game. Shahid Afridi ended his 7 years career at PSL due to his chronic back pain. He is 41 years old and in his last appearqnce from Quetta he took 2 wickets. It was his 53 appearance in PSL. He is one of few Pak players that were part of IPL.

Oman Quadrangular T20I Series 2021/22 is is progress. UAE is at the top while Nepal is at the last position. Match between Nepal and Ireland is in progress. UAE and Oman are made of players from Pakistan and India. Only Nepal and Ireland have native players.

The Nepal versus Ireland match is over and Ireland has won by 16 runs. Both teams played the whole 20 overs. In my opinion, the match was not about Ireland defending a very low score but it was about Nepal batting really bad.

In PSL, bad days for karachi continuous as they picked there 7th consecutive defeat of the tournament. This time Karachi was unlucky as they lost just by one run. Islamabad gave target of 191 runs, in reply karachi scored 190 runs. Qasim akram and Imad from Karachi scored 50s but in vain. Not sure how much more wait karachi has to do for there first win.

I really think that Indian players are more prioritized here in the IPL auction and every other overseas player are kept as the second option.
And it doesn't matter who the player is most of the time. I really think that this is a good strategy by BCCI or anyone who ever thought this for the first time because in this way more and more Indian players are going to come to focus.

This happens in every mega auction, mini auction are completely different and tons of foreign players gets the priority. Each franchise have to fill complete squad with at least 17 Indian players (including uncapped +u19) and 8 foreign players.

This season every team had to build their team from the scratch so it was obvious that they would bank on Indian players more because of their availability, why would you waste million bucks on foreign players when they are not even available for full season because of their commitment in international cricket

Another perspective is that some foreign players leave their respective teams after one season and go home with shitload amount of money, if player is big then this completely ruins the team combination because teams are build around such players. You can't even blame the players because some want to spend time with their families, play cricket for their own country etc

ATM demand is for finisher(all rounder) and fast bowlers. India is kinda lacking in this department as far as domestic resources are concern and they don't have 25-30 quality allrounders/pacers to fill the all 10 teams. In Batting and spin department supply is very healthy that's why likes of Eoin Morgan, Finch(they were never good in IPL anyway), Mujeeb etc went unsold.

If we think about what the overseas players are capable of doing, we have to say the teams should go for them. But there is always that risk factor because players can obviously leave because of international duty. But that is something which is obviously going to happen because international cricket is far superior to league cricket.

So there are always going to be pros and cons to this.
And I think that the majority of the overseas players are going to be either all-rounders or fast bowlers.

Because I think except for the national team, India is quite lackluster in these areas. But I still think that the amount of money being spent on a lot of Indian players is just stupid.

I think the simple reason why Indian players are more prioritized in IPL is one because you can only play a maximum of 4 players in your squad which makes it useless to keep a lot of foreign players because you are uselessly paying for them if you find the right combination of 4 players in early matches. The second problem is foreign boards, a lot of time it is seen foreign boards arrange tours with each other during IPL which creates issues for the Franchisee who thought they had their combination ready using foreign players. This is why now most franchisees are ready to invest in uncapped emerging Indian players rather than spending a lot of money on capped foreign players. But obviously star players still get a huge deal because even if they play a few matches for you their performance can make a huge difference and their brand value will also matter.

I think that India is thinking more about developing the players of their own instead of just concentrating on winning the IPL. Obviously, I am just speculating but I think this is what they are thinking. After all the best usage of IPL will be if India gets 1 or 2 young talent from the tournament and develop them for the future.

Sure, the overseas players are going to be interesting for any team, and playing with them will also be a fun experience for the players but I think India has realized that they have to do things for the greater good.

T20 is a very unpredictable game. Even teams such as Netherlands, Scotland and Hong Kong have defeated nations with test status in this format of the game. And that is also one of the reasons why the odds are more attractive in this format. And irrespective of whatever we say about Sri Lanka, we need to admit that they can spring up a surprise at any point of time (as seen from the second T20 match, that was tied). They have some very good players such as Wanindu Hasaranga, Dushmantha Chameera and Pathum Nissanka.

If karachi lost all matches in this season. I don't think any franchise will prefer to take babar azam as captain next time. Babar azam has done so good in T20I but luck not in favour of him at PSL.

Overseas players are vital cog in a IPL machinery but franchise can't go after every foreign players. Demand and supply matters, for example if there are tons of solid openers and spinners available for the limited slots then obviously many would go unsold. Just look at every squad, almost every squad has at least 2-3 Indian batters who are ready to open the inning for their respective franchise, same with the spinners.

On budget i think BCCI should increase the overall purse, let's say additional 30% if not 50% because they earn shitload amount of time but with IPL they are into only business, that's it. Yeah it does help players on many account but its purely business. This brings another point if some players are not available for full season then they clearly don't deserve big amount, no matter how talented you are.

Yes, that's correct that all franchise has a habit of overspending on some undeserving players be it overseas or local but it also true that their value would go down drastically if they don't deliver, unless they are extremely talented. Remember its not a charity but investment for the franchise.
