Day 3 at Christchurch with Bangladesh requiring a massive innings to improve their run rate yet 5 wickets gone. I question how much long they will survive on the pitch. I hope nothing but at this point but at least a respective performance. Maybe being too optimistic but waiting to see a better bating display from Bangladeshi batters Liton Das or Hasan.

This match is being dominated by Newzealand. They want to forget the humiliating defeat that they faced in the first test match. Bangladesh has already lost 7 wickets and are still trailing by 127 runs. I do not think that the tailenders will be able to chase that score. I also feel after winning the first match Bangladesh became over confident and elected to bowl first. If they had batted first then the situation might have been different now.

You're right, also it looks like the Indian cricket board is full of politics than fair functioning. Considering the contribution of Virat Kohli he can be given chances than directly taking the captaincy.

Virat has been doing the best, Pujara managed to score 43 runs whereas Rahane lost his wicket scoring just 9 runs in a very important match. Virat Kohli has taken the responsibility and playing the best test cricket scoring 40 runs out of 139 balls. Considering the early wickets what India have scored by now seems to be a better score. If I'm not wrong, Kohli will focus much on withstanding partnership than scoring runs. Because, if the winning chance decreases he needs to manage atleast for a draw.

Although Virat Kohli could not score a century, he played very well today. He is the highest run-scorer among Indian players. He scored 79 runs off 201 balls. India collected 223 runs. While the Indian collection is not enough,though  I am happy because in great form. He will play better in the next innings if he is back in form, i hope so.

If not for the patient innings from Virat Kohli, India would be struggling to get to this total, if one player was able to give him a decent support from the other end, the situation would have been different. After repeated poor performances, it looks as if they have assured slots in the playing XI. And all this at a time when promising youngsters like Shreyas Iyer, Venkatesh Iyer, Ishan Kishan and Ruturaj Gaikwad are relegated to the sidelines. Rahane now averages just 39 in test cricket and I really don't understand the logic in keeping him in the playing XI.

Spot on. Excuses related to toss and other factors are downright silly and stupid. NZ demolished Bangladesh thanks to a spectacular innings by Latham and amazing bowling performances by Boult and Jamieson.

Ross Taylor had a fairy-tale ending to his test career thanks to that wicket. Another legend is out. Will miss him for sure.

Now this match also looks likes the second Test match and if the bowlers are not able to restrict South Africa then it will be hard to get back in this match as it looks like a difficult pitch to bat.

I feel like I am watching an ODI series between India and South Africa at this point. South Africa definitely has the advantage currently though they could lose it if we witness a batting collapse.

To rub salt to the wounds, Rahane also wasted one review yesterday. There was a clear edge, and he still went to take the DRS. At least Kohli on the other end should have told him that there is no point in going for the DRS. Rahane had a consultation with Kohli, and after that went for the review (which was obviously turned down). Social media channels are full of posts against him. Anyway, this is the last test match of the series and he has one more chance left (second innings). After that he should be kicked out of the team and kept away for a long long time.

India team selections are always player oriented and not just performance oriented in my opinion.

For example, the triple centurion Karun Nair never gets another chance since his 303 not out score. I am not expecting such a thing from CA or any other board.

The players who contributed to win the series against Australia in last year treated very poorly. In my opinion India won that series just because of new players and if Virat and same players played that Gabba match, then India might not have got chances to break the Australia's 32 year glory in Gabba.

I think south african pitches have average totals around this much only, also where the pace bowling attacks of both the sides are outstanding it's difficult to bat in south african conditions, even when Indian side made 223, I knew it's not that bad of a score which could make you lose the game, India needs to score something around 250-300 again which will be more than enough to win this match I think
