We still have old veterans left in the PBA, if I'm not wrong, we still have the following players.
1- Mark Caguioa of Ginebra San Miguel (41 years old) 2- Rafi Reavis of Magnolia Hotshots ( 43 years old) 3- Reynel Hugnatan of Meralco Bolts (42 years old)
These players have not thought of retiring yet, so we might see them in the upcoming seasons. Rafi Reavis and Reynel Hugnatan are still very active as they are getting good minutes in a game, so I also like them to stay active. News about Rafi Reavis (as you can see not interested yet in retiring) https://tribune.net.ph/index.php/2020/12/27/retirement-far-from-reavis-agenda/With a bunch of young talent in the upcoming draft, PBA need space for them and these players should have retired lol. But in fairness to Hugnatan and Reavis, they have done a good job of keeping their body on top shape thus enabling them to compete with the younger guys. Even though Cyrus Baguio could still play competitive basketball but he decided to retire, Mark Caguioa should do the same . https://www.spin.ph/basketball/pba/cyrus-baguio-finally-retires-after-colorful-17-year-pba-career-a793-20210124

...seems the rants of the fans didn't win since SMB still win on the trade without letting go any of their star players. And this is so boring to watch now since the result by now is quite predictable.
Even some of the PBA's highly recognized individuals voiced their concern about that trade telling the management to listen to the fans as these are the foundation of the league since then. Honestly, even some of my close friends which are SMB enthusiast since then doesn't approve of this trade even that will make their team strong. It's like that they can complain anymore in an event of loss as SMB is full packed with good role players. And in an event of the Finals, they might have a hard time looking for who will bet against them. The trade is now a done deal and it can't be reversed so everyone just needs to accept it. Anyways, for bettors, betting against SMB might give us good odds. Depends on the situation, likely I will bet against them if I see good odds (much especially if SMB are against BGSM, TNT, Meralco, Phoenix). Setup always happened.

Fans have spoken. ~snip~ As expected, PBA should listen to their fans as they are losing them already. PBA before compared to the present has a big difference because fans have a lot of option to want, they have MPBL, NCAA, and even NBA. Anyways, for bettors, betting against SMB might give us good odds. Depends on the situation, likely I will bet against them if I see good odds (much especially if SMB are against BGSM, TNT, Meralco, Phoenix). Setup always happened.
They cover the point spread yes, but beating the SMB, I don't see it happened most of the time.

SMB is not the SMB like before that even you put out Fajardo, they are still a beast. Terrence Romeo and CJ Perez will share the same role so unlike in DYIP where the latter always do the playmaking, he will adjust to the SMB's system limiting his offensive role unless he will decide to take over. Setting aside other SMC teams, A healthy Phoenix or TNT can handle them. SMB just become more threat again because of Fajardo, not with CJ Perez. Take out Fajardo and SMB will struggle again even CJ Perez on-board.

Breaking News: Gregg Slaughter signs new contract with GinebraAs expected, Slaughter returns to the BGSM with a new contract. There are no details about the contract were revealed yet but whatever it is, it's a good improvement to the BGSM lineup this upcoming All-Filipino Cup. I hope to see some big movements too outside SMC teams aside from hunting good rookies on the Rookie draft.

But hope he's improved guy when filipino cup is open.

I can't wait for the new season to start, let's see if his training in the US can help him up his performance.

You nailed it mate, no matter how they say that SMB is a strong team but if you take the Kraken out they will still be an ordinary team though a contender but not assured a seat in the Finals. We have seen that during their Petron days, their line-up back then can represent the the Philippines in the Asian games lol but they struggle a lot as it is very hard to coach an All-star team.

Oh well Lets wait for whatever plans that SMB corp will do with Magnolia, since both Gins and Beer kings added good players to boost their lineups. Magnolia in the otherside needs to have a complete revamp, considering that they are also part of Cojuangco's business empire they are currently struggling. The needs of changing the strategy or trading players to seek for some good blending and chemistry for a much stronger squad coming this All-Filipino cup.

Of course, when I said SMB that's the whole team, including JMF, he is the heart and soul of the team, without him the team will struggle, and we have seen it during the bubble. They will become better with CJ Perez, the fact that they acquire him through trade, they should know how to manage him.

I think there's no such thing. Alfrancis Chua says that Slaughter is the one who did a mistake before so we can assume that the management didn't put some assurance for Slaughter about not putting him into a trade. Slaughter is the one who comes to BGSM requesting another contract and not the team ask for his return. Magnolia in the otherside needs to have a complete revamp, considering that they are also part of Cojuangco's business empire they are currently struggling. Not a priority. SMB first then BGSM then Magnolia.

Mark Caguioa is enjoying himself being a bench warmer, probably he won't retire soon since he can still play and he can give a spark to the team when it needed, his experience is very helpful to the team and though he played a limited minutes but he can give a quality game.
I remember someone asked him or it's him that asked his colleague if it's okay for him to retire already. But that colleague said that he shouldn't retire yet and before he retire, there should be a remarkable title for him which will be remembered by everybody. I think he's trying to aim that before his retirement once he achieves that, he can already step outside the league and announce his retirement. Not unless it's the management that doesn't want him to retire.

If he is called to play, he still plays hard and that's why the management like him, they call him Mark the Spark because he can provide any spark when the team needed him, I'm seen that many times, when the starters are struggling, they'll insert him and boom... Ginebra slowly got back in the game.

Yeah, maybe it's the management that stops him from retiring and he's just giving it to the fans and to the management but he's not forced to do it because he still has the passion for the game and at the same time, it's still a contract for him. If the retirement comes, I'm sure that there's still ample opportunity that awaits him.

Looks like Greg has no more options left except to sign for the Kings lol. With how things are moving now on the PBA, i think trading Slaughter to another team will not happen this season as there are rumors that Magnolia is interested in having Cstand but with a high price, Ian Sangalang and Jackson Corpuz, this is only a rumor until approved .

Mac Belo is traded to Meralco Bolts for Baser Amer and Bryan Faundo,... I think this is a good decision by the Bolts, Baser Amer is good but he lacks defense, they certainly need someone who can score in the inside and this is a big break for Mac Belo as this will give him a chance to play in the playoffs. This is a fair trade, no one should complain. source : https://www.spin.ph/basketball/pba/norman-black-mac-belo-trade-baser-amer-meralco-blackwater-bryan-faundo-a1374-20210204?ref=feed_1_section
