Sure bitfury has good tech but according to you it's "outdated" and failed 3 separate generations.

What's wrong with the statement. They can and do co-exist. Being good has nothing to do with the fact that the technology is outdated.

Quote
Pretending to know what is going on behind the scenes is bad. You are giving your customers nothing more than a false sense of security.

You make it sound like bitfury is the only company deploying hardware in mass. Are you forgetting AM, Cointerra, 21e6, peernova, bitmain, avalon, knc, and a few other megamines which all have yet to be deployed?

With ALL of those companies "deploying" hardware we only had an average of 5.5% increase in July. They either didn't deploy anything or they are just too weak to matter. (I am excluding bitmain because they DO matter)

Neptune = 3.4/3.5TH and 2K at the wall per Tolip_wen
SP30 (Not looking at a late October batch) = ~4.5TH and 3k at the wall.

2x Neptune = 7TH and 4k at the wall
2x SP30 = ~9TH  and 6k at the wall.

Realistically for equal power to the wall you can run 10.5TH/s with Neptunes.

Right now the availability on both are close to the same (or you can buy someone elses pre-order).

I just find it funny that Roadstress sold over so many people (but gained "nothing" from it).  I know when the October batch of SP30s do it they will pick up the missing power, but since day one of your SP group buys you have trashed every single product.

Why not add the prices too? Neptune was sold for over 3$/Gh while the SP30 was sold for less than 1$/Gh. The B3 Neptune is still selling for 1.7$/Gh so I wouldn't call the availability close to the same.

With the money spent on a B1 Neptune I could buy 2.5 SP30s for a whooping 11.25Th/s. Ok even if I can't split the SP30 in 2 I would still get 9Th/s and still have some money left in my pocket than getting a 3.5Th/s burning monster.

As requested some stats from the first hours of working of the SP30

The other machine is a SP10, I would say that my unit is happily hashing at 4.4Th no more and no less.

You're lucky, my stats are not as good:

Quote
3 hours   4,286.57 Gh/s   10778880

Hope that the 12-hour value will be better...

I find that the only reasonable competition to SP30 would be ANTMINER S3 -B5 and it is shipped on 7th August.

What about this beast?

This is exactly what a 3KW miner should look like. Spondoolies should take notes.

You should take note that Bitfury uses customer funds to build mega farms and screw their customers ROI.

Yes. That's the reason I refused to support them and KNC.
Anyway I guess at this point Bitfury is so developed that selling miners they use for their farms is just a side, extra profit they would easily survive without

Exactly this. Took our money, and just disappeared is what it felt like. Then add the mega farms, that seems bad just in general.

maybe it screws roi in terms of btc.

but maybe it keeps btc price higher  in terms of usd. (pick any currency)

bottom line for all of us is keeping the btc price high enough to bother to mine.

and I had around 1k into bitfury gear that was built and not delivered . I got a refund instead.

this is a very tough business for miners. just the way it is.

What difference do you think that actually makes? Whether they mine with their own systems or sell them to customers, the same amount of hashing power is still being added to the network so customers ROI will be the exact same.

Lower difficulty=more BTC for us=maybe same money with a lower exchange rate. Talking about the "what if" is hard especially when there is nothing to do right now. The reality is that they increased the hashrate for everyone.

They deploy hashrate at cost. Selling it to customers for a mark-up would mean that less hashrate is added for the same because of the cost difference and maybe because other unknown reasons.

no they asked for a lot of preorder money then claimed it could not pass customs out of russia.  they refunded all of us and mined the gear.  without our   free loan so to speak they never would have had the gear.  everyone of us got a refund but no extra money

The difference is that the profit margin from consumer sales aided them in expanding at a blistering rate.  If you take away that income stream they're limited in what they can afford.

So you decide to go with another pre-order and get burnt again?  Huh  I guess some people never learn.

I see that you are really trying, but failing badly to bash SP-Tech. They don't build mega farms for their selfish mining like Bitfury. What are we talking about here?

I was commenting on the risks of pre-orders. You'd think that after every company has burnt their pre-order customers that people would stop purchasing in such a manner. Clearly some people have more money than sense though and are eager to give these companies free loans.

Looks like Guy was right, bitfury did just build another 20MW datacenter.

http://venturebeat.com/2014/07/30/bitfury-announces-hosted-mining-services/

It's a bit unclear whether it's already filled with hardware or not.

Also noticed "Some 40 percent of all Bitcoins are mined using BitFury chips." and "BitFury has an impressive track record, having successfully delivered three prior generations of silicon and has a roadmap to at least double performance-per-watt every six months. "
