agreed, i think we can probably assume BFL arent a player at this point.  they dont seem to be in any hurry to ship their boards, and theyre very very late... so even if they ARE efficient on power, theyre certainly not shipping them to anyone other than their own data center, and i think they already said that the excuse is that these boards arent as efficient as theyre sposed to be.   'yea, right'...

also.. im not sure how accurate this is but according to hashfast's blog (!?) the dies of the bfl chips are significantly larger than everyone elses by a huge margin... which could mean they attempted to sacrifice 'die area' for 'power efficiency'.  a difficult compromise, because die area is directly related to the cost of silicon... and a huge die area means low yield and expensive asics.   if true, this is a false economy as cost efficiency of the asics is equally if not more important than power efficiency... and most others have a smaller die area per gigahash.

...
Thank you for your sound advice.
Calling me a troll is raging bullshit.

Spondoolies brought this on themselves by posting no fewer than thirty times with extreme confidence that it would be on time and on spec.  You can't write: 'trust us, we know what we are doing' and not expect some heat when you fuck it all up.

Trolling is one thing - getting called out for fucking up the deal is completely different.  Whether I have orders or not, doesn't matter.  What matters is spondoolies was blowing their horn of certainty mighty hard before they showed up with nil.

Learn what a troll is before you shoot at me.  But first, get your ass in the lab and fix that shit you built under spec.  The people have had enough of sending their money to big mouth who really don't know how to build things.

Ok guys, I pulled the trigger on my second SP30 in the August Group Buy.

Only two days to go. Don't be left behind at the station when the 0.46W/GH train departs. All that 1W/GH equipment is going to look like a power hog.

You have done right !

I am so happy with this company!

Almost every single ASIC manufacturer to date has missed their published power targets. I do think Spondoolies has done a great job so far, so don't get me wrong, but caveat emptor when you're buying a non-refundable product that doesn't even exist yet.

The Neptune looked like a great buy back in November, and we all know how that turned out, so don't count your chickens before they hatch.

Also, the competition doesn't stand still, and new companies like Spondoolies pop up out of no where from time to time, so it's impossible to predict what the market will look like in August.

One month in Bitcoinland is like one year in many other industries.

We'll meet our power targets and our schedule.
We're committed to 5.4 THs +- 10% and July delivery.

The SP30 will be able to produce over 6 THs. Probably over 6.5 THs with 2700 Watt (2 X 1200 rated PSUs, each PSU is able to input 1350 Watt)

Spondoolies said over and over again that they were 100% confident that they would met their schedule, power, and performance targets to drum up sales. Either they were disingenuous or very ignorant of the risks associated with developing new hardware, and it now sounds like the buck is being passed to TSCM.

Search through their post history and you'll see similar posts to the one above over and over again.

Some of us have been around for a while and knew better. It's funny how history keeps repeating itself over and over again. Same shit, different company.

To be fair, Spondoolies still does have a chance to make their SP30 customers whole, so the jury is still out on this latest example of ASICs manufacturers over promising and under delivering.

Time will tell.

Those invested ZERO amount of money on ST, can you please SHUT THE FUCK UP?

As said earlier criticism comes from some assholes never had the chance (or the money) to by an SP product.

Nice chart. Thanks.

There is misprint about Bitmine Desk. They have never shipped Rigs but they are shipping Desks. 1TH/s for $1,599.00

Since I own two SP10s, do I have your permission to make my opinion known master, or do I also need to shut the fuck up?   Kiss

I think the SP10 is a great miner for a data center.

If Spondoolies takes care of current customers, turns things around, and offers IN STOCK SP30s with a competitive price / performance ratio in the future, I will happily buy a few units.

Frightening how much whining is going on about such a trivial issue. Seemingly brilliant minds on the forefront of technology who sit there day and night with their abacuses calculating and re-calculating hash rates, power consumptions, dollar values over and over till their fingers bleed, now shrieking like little babies sitting in their prams having had their dummies fall out of their mouths out of reach.

So what's the big deal? This is how the farms start. If in order to keep the guaranteed power specification of these units they must lower the hash rate, all they need do is plug in a handful of these machines or the previous machines in their data center and apportion off the balance TH's owed to your specified address. However the math works for them such that the machine itself covers their running costs, the balance will be directed to you e.g. if the thing runs at guaranteed power specs. but with 5 TH/s only, they can plug in an SP10, direct 1 TH/s to your BTC address, keep .4 TH/s for themselves to pay for running it there.

Would that be the end of the world?

...
If each chip pulls double the wattage that it was supposed to, do you think they made sure that the copper layers in the PCB can handle the extra load? Can the rest of the components handle the extra load?
...
Please avoid rumors and speculations. We'll release all the information in few days. Let us complete testing and firmware tuning.
I can share that we have stable systems (plural) in our labs. There is not PCB issue, etc. We've designed with enough headroom.
We'll ship the orders on time.

I can also share that we're zeroing on the issue and it's a TSMC production issue.
Future batches (October) will meet our desired spec.

Guy

I don't think that posting snippets like this is fair to those of us who want to see the whole picture first before voicing our opinion AFTER learning about all facts and remedies.
But, ahem, this is just my opinion.

That's pretty funny.  That's what you said the last time.  Maybe another unexpected problem will come up.

Maybe you can say: "They will definitely be on spec.  Or the won't"

Don't worry. Your miners will arrive on time and on spec.
Unfortunately, this is the same thing CoinTerra, KnC, BFL all said.  It has about the same meaning as 'the check is in the mail!'
