Ahead of the FIFA World Cup qualifying games that'll be coming up next month, Super Eagles new manager Eric Chelle is talking tough already. Read it properly because I think you have it all confused. It is not the statement of the new Super Eagles manager, but a statement from an ex-Super Eagles coach to the new manager. I would have loved a link to the article to see better if they mentioned the exact ex-Super Eagles coach making this statement. I will like to see the result he had with the Super Eagles when he was coach. Statements or messages like that can build up pressure on the new coach that will affect his performance. The new coach already knows he needs to win his first game to win the hearts of Nigerians since his appointment was not accepted by all; he will be working towards that.

whatever political statement that is going is is probably associated with the changes we have seen in the coaching wing of the national team and for that
If that is what they mean by "politics", then they have no argument. How is it the fault of the NFF that Jose Peseiro decided to resign after losing the AFCON final to Cote d'Ivoire, or how is it their fault that Finidi George decided to resign after clashing with star striker Victor Osimhen. Let us leave all these talk of politics, and face the real problem, which is that the boys are underperforming and hope that it changes in the upcoming games.

Of course that is what it is, but there is also no reason why Nigeria should be in the situation they are in now in the world cup qualifiers, there is no reason why we should win zero games out of the four that we have played. That said, the reality is that we find ourselves in that situation, we should be dominating African football right now, but we are not, i hope that changes soon and we start to win games again and qualify for the world cup eventually, though it is a daunting task.

Imagine a world cup without Nigeria playing again, that's going to be so boring. Nigerians brings in colour and fun to the tournament. Although we haven't won it before but we do have a history and things can be different this time as Messi (Argentina) isn't the Messi of old that usually stops us from progressive as we get to face them at the group stage. When we qualify, things will be different this time but to get to that point we need to qualify and that's the task of the new management. I strongly believe in him as I have no choice than to accept his appointment and hope he does something extraordinary to get us to that world stage. There's lots of talent in the team to be wasted not playing on the world stage. Alot of ballers are retiring so there's room for new stars to be born and I know Nigeria won't be left out as we have amazing talents too.

Nigeria national team is blessed with talented players who mostly play in European clubs and against a Rwandan side that's below them in the FIFA rankings, I expect the Super Eagles to get all three points in the game. What do you make of the statement of the new Super Eagles boss? Let me read your opinions.
But come to think of it, is there any reason why Nigerian shouldn't beat them, we're better than them in all angles on the pitch, we have better attackers, midfielders and defenders. What is stopping Nigeria from defeating Rwanda and qualifying for the world cup. I hope the new coach isn't biased with his selection and choose players based on merit and not favouritism from the elites that wants their own people to represent the country. We're lacking behind in terms of fairness as let say the former coaches were being free and fair, there are sometimes that we shouldn't be playing certain players because they have be awful in previous matches but still they get selected. Nigeria has no reason to lose this game, it's the new manager first game so I expect there to be fire from the boys as they try to impress the new coach and perform better. Favoritism of players by the elites has been the major problem we have in Super Eagles. Each coach that comes to Super Eagles has complained bitterly about this; the NFF is interfering in the coach's job in selecting players, and that keeps affecting the team's performance. I just hope NFF will give the new Super Eagles a chance to perform his duty as a coach in the long run without telling him what to do and what not to do. I am learning that Chelle is making plans to shake up the squad of Super Eagles with new players that will make the team more formidable than it was before. Let's see what new players he will call up to strengthen the team's performance. Losing or drawing in the first match is not what Nigerians will consider lightly. A win match is what Nigerians will love to see, to give us chances of qualifying for the World Cup

The Super Eagles have many talented players and I’m hopeful that irrespective of where they are now in the qualifiers they can still be able to qualify from the group. The new head coach should be able to maximize the potentials of the team and make sure Nigeria is among the countries we will see in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

And everyone seems not to be interested in the Africa playing especially Nigeria am even getting tired of how they are performing and I don't even want to show interest in the game because Nigeria as been fucking up so there expection are always high when it comes to them but they need to understand that football can not be predicted always and the supper eagles are just another disappointment. And we all just have to accept our faith when it come to the super eagles because there is nothing good that is coming out of them every time they are participating and instead of them to give you joy the only thing they give you will be annoying I don't see any difference from what is going happen so it will be better to just watch for those that are intrested.

The new coach of the Super Eagles must understand that they national team needs to win their remaining FIFA World Cup qualifying matches to stand a good chance of participating in the next edition of the tournament and considering the quality of players in the Super Eagles team, I strongly believe that he can achieve this great feat if he can put in the needed efforts

The problem of the Nigerian super eagle team has been coaching because we have good talents that are playing in virtually all parts of the world but we tend to get it wrong when ever we go out for competition this shows that we done have a good coach that will manage and hanersh the talents in the team and bring out the best in the players so that they can contribute to the general success of the team until we stop playing politics with the appointments of our technical advisors we can't get it right when it comes to the sinor mens national team of nigeria

I agree with you. The coach has been the problem in the Super Eagles and if they have good coach many things will change for good and they can win a trophy in the country. They have 3 to 5 good players in the team and if they can get good Coach, things will be good with them. We will see the first match of the new coach next month. From the world cup qualifiers we will know him how he is going to perform in the main match.

When favoritism and sentiment is brought into football, the outcome is always not encouraging because it simply means talent and hardwork has been neglected. Selection in football games should be all about talent and hardwork, these is the only way good performance and results can be obtained. It is so sad that the people at the top don't care about good performance by selecting players based on talent, they are just interested about their own gains that is why they would always want to bring in favouritism because of their own self benefit and it is gradually killing the team, that it seems so difficult for the team to achieve simple trophies. There are good players in the super eagles and if the management can come together and do things accordingly, selections based on talent of the players, the team will be among the best teams.

You have said it all. We have the talents but we lack discipline. I just wish the new head coach of the Super Eagles will not be biased or give into the pressure to favour any player. I would love to see him make use of his finest eleven for the remainder of the World Cup Qualifiers, given the fact that Nigeria is walking on thin ice. Despite the talents we have on the squad, Nigeria have failed to win in four of the matches played so far in the qualifiers, losing three and drawing only one.

The calibre of players the Nigerian team has is beyond that of Rwanda, so whether or not the ex-coach that's calling for Eric Chelle to ensure a win in that game gave a stellar performance in his time as coach isn't important. What's important is that Eric Chelle should deliver on his mandate which is to secure a place for the super eagles in the next world cup competition.

From the world cup qualifiers we will know him how he is going to perform in the main match. What do you mean that the super eagles have just three to five good players in the team? The least of Nigerian national team problem is that we don't have good players. In the whole of the continent of Africa, no national team is blessed with the kind of talents that we have with a lot of options at the midfield, defense and attack. If you start from the defense, you have less than three strong defenders that can play for any European club and same is what's applicable to the midfield we have and also the attacking department that are even in their numbers. The responsibility of the coach is only but one thing; get the players to blend well and play at thier maximum level and we will get good results that might see us qualifying for the world cup all things being equal. The rwandees and the other team we will be playing going forward have just one thing that helps them stand head to head with us, it's juet that they are resilient and okay more of a team football than displaying any form of individual skills. If we are able to get it right in that angle, believe me that we have enough players that are good enough to take us straight up to qualifying for the world cup.

What's important is that Eric Chelle should deliver on his mandate which is to secure a place for the super eagles in the next world cup competition. Does it really matters? Wether it's an ex international, an ex coach or a fan, the key thing is that they have no excuse not to win this game against Rwanda because in my own opinion, it's a must win game, and due to the controversy surrounding the acquisition of this our present head coach, he has no reason not to qualify our super eagles to the next world cup, because it would be very easy to call for his sack once things aren't going as planned, so in other for him to win the heart and soul of the Nigerian fan, he must start strong by winning our upcoming games convincingly, so as to keep his critique short, if not, they will start calling for his head if they draw, I haven't even talked about them losing this game. As for what his critiques are saying, in my own perspective, they are right, their is not a single excuse they can give that will be ok not to win this game, because the calibre of players in this two teams are far apart in quality.

There's lots of talent in the team to be wasted not playing on the world stage. Alot of ballers are retiring so there's room for new stars to be born and I know Nigeria won't be left out as we have amazing talents too.
Honestly, apart from us here in Nigeria who will be watching from home I don’t really think our absence in the coming World Cup will even be felt or noticed, not like we have been making much impact in recent World Cup tournaments. However qualifying is the first step to having these big dreams then we can go on to dream and cheer our team to fulfilling these dreams. Let’s hope the team can qualify to compete in the world cup.

Not Having Nigeria in the world cup will actually be felt mostly by Nigerias especially we who will be watching from home like you rightly mentioned and probably some other African countries who would have loved to see Nigeria at the world cup but I think away from these mentioned, others may not really get to be concerned because there's no spectacular impact in the long run actually.

I disagree. I can’t think of any country in the continent that would want to see Nigeria in the World Cup. On the contrary, they will be very happy to see that we didn’t qualify and try to rub it in our faces. We have too many haters, don’t ask me why that is because I don’t know why there is so much animosity towards Nigeria.

Perhaps you could be right because our last time was 8 to 9 years ago and based on how super eagles tried on there last time their absence was felt but this time it will not be felt much by other countries because some African countries that went the last time has won the heart of a lot of people in the continent, so this time those countries that impress Africans will be the ones they would put on their four front and even if the super eagles qualify which I believe they will but they will have another work to do, which is performance to prove that they can also do like those other African countries, then people will admire them more as before.
