No, its why exchanges need to be held to a higher standard, a& be registered, so they are by law bound to 3rd party auditing. This is why I trade sizable qty only on cryptsy.

Rollback destroys all integrity of the block chain. You may as well go back to using dollars if you want to have a solution as moronic as a rollback. I still show my full VRC balance in MintPal.  Does this mean my coins by chance were not part of what was stolen?  Has anyone seen the balance actually affected or do they just not update.

My VRC balance looks unaffected, but the grand total (in estimated BTCs) doesn't make sense, is like if all the other coins counted but not the VRCs, can anyone check?

Even a rollback is highly problematic because it compromises integrity of the blockchain.  Either way this is a tragedy...  I still cannot understand why VRC was the only target.

Any centralised exchange can be hacked.

Decentralized exchanges like bithalo which are trustless by design, are safer by definition. They are the future.

So to put things in perspective, you'd be okay with absolutely nothing being done about a simultaneous 33% acquisition of the bitcoin supply by a malicious thief along with 51% of the network hash by that same person?

While there is no satisfying solution to all of this... I would have to agree with Mr_Random.  A rollback at the very least, is just as bad as the thief dumping coins.

Apples & oranges @ no time was almost 30% of ALL BTC stolen.

Edit: This is also not an MP bail out, its PROTECTING the holders & users of the coin. MP will undoubtedly suffer irreversible losses from this most importantly community trust.
