At one point darkcoin got attacked pretty hard when a hacker stole a bunch of coins and used it to crash the price of darkcoin. In the real world if something goes wrong, you can't just jump in a time machine and make it right.

In that REAL WORLD your stupidity -of a few weeks back- would still be a total stupidity though.

I do not think of theft is concerned. Mintpal encrypt the wallet password a second time. And im sure, Mintpal use irreversible algorithm.

Right now they're fixing vulnerabilities and take harder measures.

how do you know the coins were stolen and mintpal didn't just mess up themselves? They haven't released any logs to prove what is happening. Pretty much all the devs did was kinda save mintpals ass, but the coin is still going to suffer the same fate it would have if the hacker got to keep the 30%.

Interesting and very valid point, actually we will have to see how they proceed to clarify this matter, not just reimbursing the affected people but also proving to the community that in fact an attack was perpetrated.

Failing to do so might (and should) kill the exchange.
