Is poloniex down only for me Huh?

Nope, same for everyone. They are having issues at the datacentre which hosts the site according to thier twitter page

Cryptsy has CLAM/BTC now and hopefully CLAM/LTC soon.

https://www.cryptsy.com/markets/view/CLAM_BTC

Polo is shit. I'd trust Cryptsy with way more personally.

Oh man, not cryptsy... I agree that polo is problematic as well, but cryptsy is not good for coins that stake. They have a bad rep on staked coins for camping on the rewarded coins in the staking process.

Where were you promised 200 CLAMs, exactly?

He wasn't.

Just ignore him lol he's being a fuck face.

He could give us the message or quote the sentence when he was supposedly promised the CLAMS but he can't.

I see no CLAM on OKcoin for the 100 CLAM we agreed to! That is like 20,000 on leverage Wink omg omg

/\ask BayAreaCoins!!! lol he has it!  Wink  = real talk...do i really need to post it here? haha

/\busted!!!   no you said 200 however i'll take 100 and settle this like a man Wink

I see no OKcoin deposit for CLAM Cry

No ticky, No laundry.

i'm not going to get you guys added to any more exchanges at this rate.

You didn't get CLAM listed on Cryptsy. It happened, but you didn't cause it to happen. You always seem to struggle with causality.

100 clams or don't ask me for shit!    :\     ~am i being greedy?

Nobody is asking you for anything, and yes you're being greedy. Now go away please.

anyone else successfully stake any pile lately, except just-dice?
I finally got one pile to stake today but unfortunately it gets rejected Cry
also how bout the rule of 51% attack?
since dooglus' just-dice is staking more than 51% of the clams, hence having 51%+ hashing power
wouldn't that be easy for him to do 51% attack? just-a-thought and not accusing

That should be easy enough to check. Go to http://khashier.com/ and click the blue block number. It's currently 260452. The link takes me to http://khashier.com/block/d84202ff3e357f5faab4b468c95cf8db83e25252f7a9c24aab5bd32ef825fb2b - look at the 2nd transaction to see who staked the block - it was xJDCLAMZ - that's JD.

Click "Previous Block" to step back through the blocks:

260451 was also staked by JD - keep stepping back.

Eventually I get to block 260447 which was staked by xTZhVaTWpvScakxuhiurLQs2pVUSeK7pjq

On JD:

> validateaddress xTZhVaTWpvScakxuhiurLQs2pVUSeK7pjq
{
    "isvalid" : true,
    "address" : "xTZhVaTWpvScakxuhiurLQs2pVUSeK7pjq",
    "ismine" : false
}

ie. it's not one of ours. Almost all the JD CLAMs are in the xJDCLAMZ address, to make it possible for people to check JD's solvency, and to know which blocks JD is staking.

So yeah, blocks 260448 through 260452 were all staked by JD, but block 260447 wasn't.

We have much more than 51% of the staking power, and so could reject all blocks staked by other people, but we don't. It wouldn't be good for CLAM in general to have JD abusing its position.

If I run 'getstakinginfo' for the JD bankroll, I see:

Quote
   "weight" : 201619.54304143,
    "netstakeweight" : 277407.71838880,

ie. we are currently 201619.54304143 * 100/ 277407.71838880 = 72.68% of the staking weight.

and if I look at https://just-dice.com/wagered.txt, I see:

2014-12-19   18047.43147282   -861.57238363   1148.81100000

ie. we are staking around 1150 blocks per day. That is 1150 * 100.0 / (60*24) = 79.86% of the daily blocks.

Those numbers (72% and 79%) aren't as close as I would expect, but at least they're in the same ballpark. Maybe the whole network is actually staking more than 60*24 blocks per day, and so our 1150 is less than 79% of the daily total. I'll check and edit this post.

tl;dr: we have a large percentage of the staking weight and so stake a large percentage of the blocks

Edit: it seems like we're actually taking a little over 24 hours to stake a day's worth of blocks:

Code:
$ day() {
> d=$1
> python -c "print ($(echo $((clamd getblock $(clamd getblockhash $((height-60*24*d))); clamd getblock $(clamd getblockhash $((height-60*24*(d+1))))) | grep time | awk '{print $3}' | tr -d ,) | sed 's/ /-/')) / 3600.0"
> }
$ for d in 0 1 2 3 4 5; do day $d; done
24.0133333333
24.2711111111
24.0622222222
24.3422222222
24.1644444444
24.3111111111

ie. each of the last 6 sets of 1440 blocks has taken a little over 24 hours to stake.

Edit2: I just ran getstakinginfo again, and the numbers have changed. We now have 100* 201620.54375794 / 268853.12153023 = 74.9928% of the staking weight. So I guess that's the issue - getstakinginfo just gives an estimate of the network weight based on the time it took to find the last ~100 blocks, and so can get it quite wrong. I guess we have closer to 80% of the weight, since we're finding 80% of the blocks.

Before:
Quote
   "weight" : 201619.54304143,
    "netstakeweight" : 277407.71838880,

After:
Quote
   "weight" : 201620.54375794,
    "netstakeweight" : 268853.12153023,

I'm thinking the network weight didn't just drop from 277k to 268k in a few minutes, but what actually happened was that the network was relatively unlucky in the recent few minutes, making the estimated netstakeweight drop.

Edit3: finally, take a look at the chart of global network difficulty:

https://i.imgur.com/0ZEZhqz.png

It is swinging wildly between 16k and 23k. That's almost a 50% swing, so the estimations of the network weight aren't going to be very accurate.

i guess dooglus will only be happy when no one else can compete for stake and everyone is forced to invest in JD and pay him 10% in order to stake anything at all  Roll Eyes

I almost didn't respond to your post, thinking you must be trolling, but having looked through your post history it seems that you're probably serious.

i agree that it's becoming a problem

JustDice now have over 55% of total coin supply invested and 75% of the staking weight. pretty ridiculous, he's already hurting the coin and there seems to be no end in sight...

Just-Dice has 75% of the staking weight and stakes 75% of the blocks. There's nothing wrong with that. It doesn't change your chance of staking at all. If Just-Dice's 75% was split equally between 75 different wallets controlled by 75 different people, it would still stake 75% of the blocks, and the remaining 25% of the staking weight would only stake 25% of the blocks. That is how it's meant to work.

Having over 51% of the staking weight is only a problem for people who don't trust me to be responsible with it.

As for hurting the coin, I have been one of the most active developers of the coin in recent months, and am operating the only service which lets you actually use the coin. Just-Dice has obviously brought a lot of new eyes to CLAM as well.

JD reopened with CLAMs on Dec 6th. Look at the 'hurt':

i guess dooglus will only be happy when no one else can compete for stake and everyone is forced to invest in JD and pay him 10% in order to stake anything at all  Roll Eyes

That will never happen. I am already in a position where I could make that the case. I can easily just ignore all blocks staked by non-JD addresses and build on top of the most recent JD block. If I was doing that then of course you have a valid point, but I am not and will not. If you have 1% of the staking weight, you will stake 1% of the blocks whether JD's bankroll is 0 or whether JD has the other 99% of the staking weight.

Oh Great CLAM,

Let us humble servants of the blockchain recognize the union of CLAMs and Just-Dice as a historical experiment in a revolutionary new technology.

Oh Great CLAM,

For the purpose of the greater good, please free us from the burden of dwelling upon ourselves.

Oh Great CLAM,

May we always remember that first moment our minds grasped the blockchain.

Amen.

Hi doog, no offense meant by any part of this post. If you find it insulting, I'll remove it if you pm me.

IMHO it's terrible for someone to own that much of a coin. The price goes down fast. I'm not going to complain about the no-staking-for-days, that's unexpected but isn't a sign of more malevolent happenings. However, 75% stake power is really too much for one individual to hold. I trust you would never misuse that power but others don't.

That being said I have no proposals in mind so if things continue this way I won't scream.

A clarification is in order, not just for you (doog) but also for the rest of the readers. What I mean is that it's scary one person **holds** that much of the total supply of CLAM. It's like Satoshi Nakamoto holding 90% of Bitcoin and controlling 75% of mining operations.

Your post is fine.

It's not ideal that anyone controls such a high percentage of any coin, for sure. I'm charging 10% commission which I'm told is high, so there's plenty of room for a competing pool to get involved if they want to.

The problem as I see it is that JD is the only CLAM service out there. You can stake your own coins and will be subject to pretty high levels variance unless you have lots of them, but other than that there's nowhere good except JD to put your CLAMs. I hope other sites see JD's success and rush to compete.

More services should also help sustain value better, helping everyone that owns CLAMs. I think it may happen when the price starts to stabilize (regardless of if that's below or above its current).

That would be an excellent solution.

I've already started on some backend code for a generic staking pool for PoS altcoins (which will, of course, have to be tweaked a lot per altcoin).

JD is fun to play on. Apart from PD, which has way too much spam, it's the only dice site with active, non-schizophrenic chatters.
