anyone else successfully stake any pile lately, except just-dice?
I finally got one pile to stake today but unfortunately it gets rejected Cry
also how bout the rule of 51% attack?
since dooglus' just-dice is staking more than 51% of the clams, hence having 51%+ hashing power
wouldn't that be easy for him to do 51% attack? just-a-thought and not accusing
i havent stake for many days too...Sad

i agree that it's becoming a problem

JustDice now have over 55% of total coin supply invested and 75% of the staking weight. pretty ridiculous, he's already hurting the coin and there seems to be no end in sight...

i guess dooglus will only be happy when no one else can compete for stake and everyone is forced to invest in JD and pay him 10% in order to stake anything at all  Roll Eyes

I almost didn't respond to your post, thinking you must be trolling, but having looked through your post history it seems that you're probably serious.

i agree that it's becoming a problem

JustDice now have over 55% of total coin supply invested and 75% of the staking weight. pretty ridiculous, he's already hurting the coin and there seems to be no end in sight...

Just-Dice has 75% of the staking weight and stakes 75% of the blocks. There's nothing wrong with that. It doesn't change your chance of staking at all. If Just-Dice's 75% was split equally between 75 different wallets controlled by 75 different people, it would still stake 75% of the blocks, and the remaining 25% of the staking weight would only stake 25% of the blocks. That is how it's meant to work.

Having over 51% of the staking weight is only a problem for people who don't trust me to be responsible with it.

As for hurting the coin, I have been one of the most active developers of the coin in recent months, and am operating the only service which lets you actually use the coin. Just-Dice has obviously brought a lot of new eyes to CLAM as well.

JD reopened with CLAMs on Dec 6th. Look at the 'hurt':

i guess dooglus will only be happy when no one else can compete for stake and everyone is forced to invest in JD and pay him 10% in order to stake anything at all  Roll Eyes

That will never happen. I am already in a position where I could make that the case. I can easily just ignore all blocks staked by non-JD addresses and build on top of the most recent JD block. If I was doing that then of course you have a valid point, but I am not and will not. If you have 1% of the staking weight, you will stake 1% of the blocks whether JD's bankroll is 0 or whether JD has the other 99% of the staking weight.

Oh Great CLAM,

Let us humble servants of the blockchain recognize the union of CLAMs and Just-Dice as a historical experiment in a revolutionary new technology.

Oh Great CLAM,

For the purpose of the greater good, please free us from the burden of dwelling upon ourselves.

Oh Great CLAM,

May we always remember that first moment our minds grasped the blockchain.

Amen.

Hi doog, no offense meant by any part of this post. If you find it insulting, I'll remove it if you pm me.

IMHO it's terrible for someone to own that much of a coin. The price goes down fast. I'm not going to complain about the no-staking-for-days, that's unexpected but isn't a sign of more malevolent happenings. However, 75% stake power is really too much for one individual to hold. I trust you would never misuse that power but others don't.

That being said I have no proposals in mind so if things continue this way I won't scream.

P.S. Maybe you'll consider stopping stalking at some point?

Edit 1: Nevermind, I'm actually regretting posting this but I'm not one to delete posts on a whim. Please understand I'm not accusing you in ANY way whatsoever and I hope this does not drive a wedge between us.

A clarification is in order, not just for you (doog) but also for the rest of the readers. What I mean is that it's scary one person **holds** that much of the total supply of CLAM. It's like Satoshi Nakamoto holding 90% of Bitcoin and controlling 75% of mining operations.

Your post is fine.

It's not ideal that anyone controls such a high percentage of any coin, for sure. I'm charging 10% commission which I'm told is high, so there's plenty of room for a competing pool to get involved if they want to.

The problem as I see it is that JD is the only CLAM service out there. You can stake your own coins and will be subject to pretty high levels variance unless you have lots of them, but other than that there's nowhere good except JD to put your CLAMs. I hope other sites see JD's success and rush to compete.

More services should also help sustain value better, helping everyone that owns CLAMs. I think it may happen when the price starts to stabilize (regardless of if that's below or above its current).

That would be an excellent solution.

I've already started on some backend code for a generic staking pool for PoS altcoins (which will, of course, have to be tweaked a lot per altcoin).

JD is fun to play on. Apart from PD, which has way too much spam, it's the only dice site with active, non-schizophrenic chatters.

dooglus plan seems to work, there is a high demand but there is a growing supply from people learning they have X CLAMS to claim. If they don't gamble and don't want to invest in a bitcoin casino they are naturally selling it.

Please remember:

If you have sent coins out of the wallet, even just once, those coins are no longer associated with the receive address they were received with.

During every single send (unless spent completely and evenly), the wallet creates what are called "change" addresses.
These change addresses to do not show up in the User-Interface of the client.

Unless you have expert knowledge and understanding concerning "change" addresses, and exactly where your outputs were on May 12th, it is extremely likely that importing individual addresses will not get you all of your CLAMS.

In these cases (the vast majority), the easiest way to be certain you are getting all of the CLAMS you deserve is to download the client and click 'File'->'Import Wallet'.

The Just-Dice claim command is a wonderful feature for those who know exactly which address the given "output" was at during the May 12th snapshot.

However, if you do not understand exactly what an "output" is, or what a "change" address is, we urge users to claim using the conventional method built into the CLAM client.  This ensures that all private keys are imported (even the ones you don't know are in there) and all CLAMS are claimed.
