Dice sites have standardised on a 1% house edge; I can't think of a single site other than satoshidice that charges more than that.

Dice.Ninja Tongue

Heh, OK. They ended up charging everyone 100%, but that's different...

Seems I missed something, was that site good?

It was at one point the most popular bitcoin dice site, winning by a huge distance. But since those offchain dice sites showed up, most of its users have stopped using SD.

New Session Based Game Released

Global Bitcoiners,

Satoshidice is back with a brand new website & system.
The site now offers: Session based betting, daily tournaments, free BTC givaways,
maximum data availibility and a lag free experience.

To celebrate this fine event, we give the first 1000 accounts 0.01 bitcoin. For free.

In other words - 1 million satoshis - in your account, just by visiting www.satoshidice.com.
Why not try it yourself, right now.

So far, satoshidice has been used for randomizing 6,332,632 bets and has payed out more than 4.3 million bitcoins.

Satoshidice automatic daily competitions - What is this?

Most won (Current payout: 1 BTC) 5 hours remaining
The account who won the most on a single bet wins 1 BTC when the timer runs out.

Most profit (Current payout: 1 BTC) 5 hours remaining
The account who got the highest profit from a bet, wins 1 BTC when the timer runs out.

Unlikliest win (Current payout: 1 BTC) 5 hours remaining
Feeling lucky? The account that manage to roll the lowest possible number before the timer runs out
wins 1 BTC.

Longest winning streak (Current payout: 1.25 BTC) 5 hours remaining
The account who had the most wins in a row without a single losing bet, wins 1 BTC when the timer runs out

Unlikliest winning streak (Current payout: 0.75 BTC) 5 hours remaining
Same as longest streak, with the exception of also considering the cummulative difficulty of the entire winning streak.

Less than 5 hours remains for todays payouts. Due to the short timespan, its most probably very easy for anyone reading this post to rake the coins to your own wallet. The competition will be very low.
Payouts occur automatically and all you have to do, is to be the number 1 on the leader board - or boards.

What about provably fair?
It's a transparent system that you can read more about here: https://www.satoshidice.com/provably-fair/

What's old?
The blockchain based betting is old. But we will never remove the most famous lottery game of bitcoin.
Simply, click the "block chain based" betting tab on the site to list the betting urls.

If you need to know how it works, try this:
To play, you just send coins to any of the listed addresses based on the odds you want.
To see how easy it is, try sending 0.01 btc to 1dice9wcMu5hLF4g81u8nioL5mmSHTApw
(That address gives you a 73% chance of winning)

May the dice be with you.

It seems to be buggy:

Code:
{
    "offChainGame": {
        "totalRounds": 13152,
        "totalBetsInSatoshis": 3063277477,
        "totalWinsInSatoshis": 3016452946,
        "totalRoundsToday": 13152,

        "totalWinsTodayInSatoshis": 3016452946,
        "totalBets24HInSatoshis": 3063277477,
        "totalWins24HInSatoshis": 28842502615,

totalBetsTodayInSatoshis and totalBets24HInSatoshis are the same, but totalWinsTodayInSatoshis and totalWins24HInSatoshis aren't the same. That can't be right!

Also, the provably fair system is almost impossible to verify unless I make a note of the server seed and salt before each and every roll. It would be better to use the same server seed for each roll and just change a numerical nonce to change the outcome. See how all the other sites do it (JD, PD, PRC, etc.)

The text could do with proof-reading too - there are many errors. Most of them would even be caught by a spellcheck.

Overall I'm impressed by the new site. The only two things that would stop me playing are:

1) the provably fair system is far too labour-intensive to verify
2) the house edge is still almost twice that of all the other sites

It will be interesting to see whether people care about either of those two things or whether they play anyway. I'm sure that if they were both fixed, you would have a huge success on your hands.

totalBetsTodayInSatoshis and totalBets24HInSatoshis are the same, but totalWinsTodayInSatoshis and totalWins24HInSatoshis aren't the same. That can't be right!

This is corrected now, it was adding up all roll prizes no matter if they were actually won or not. Thanks for pointing this out!

No problem.

I think I found another error, or maybe I'm just misunderstanding.

The first two leaderboards: "most won" and "most profit" are both about single bet results, right? "most won" is sorted by the total payout including stake, and "most profit" is sorted by the profit (excluding stake). Both require a bet of 0.001 BTC or more to qualify.

The bet in 2nd place in "most won" profited over 1 BTC, which is more than any of the profits on "most profit". Why isn't that bet shown on the "most profit" leaderboard?

Here are screenshots:

"most won":

"most profit":

By referring players to us, you will earn a 10% revenue share directly into your account. Each time a player you referred rolls the dice, your account balance will be instantaneously rewarded with 10% of any losses, and penalised with 10% of wins.

Is that saying that if I refer a player who wins, I have to pay 10% of their winnings from my own balance?

That seems a little harsh. I would be worried to refer anyone who might bet a lot because they could bankrupt me!

On the other hand, it removes refer-fraud, where players refer themself to reduce their house edge.

If I refer myself, I lose less when I lose, but I also win less when I win. It's like playing while owning 10% of the bankroll on an investment site, only without having to pay commission.

User "dooglus" referred user "testing" who is waiting for a deposit to confirm to check out how this "penalised with 10% of wins" thing really works. I'll report back what happens. Smiley

Another issue: on the provably fair verification page I see the following:

There's no need to list 'Roll Max', since it's a constant and only serves to confuse things.

I can't see any explanation for 'Resulting Roll'. It's a 6 digit number and isn't mentioned anywhere else on the page. Maybe that's just a coding error, and it's meant to show the actual number that was rolled (which wasn't a 6 digit number!) Also the text to the right talks about it being a "client random number, which seems irrelevant. The "Client roll" 2 lines above is the number the player enters.

The basic scheme seems to be:

server picks a number in the range 0-65535
player picks a number in the ranger 0-65535
add the two numbers together, if it's greater than 65535, take off 65536
that's your roll

To prove it is fair, the server publishes a hash of its number before you pick your number, where the hash is salted with a long random string. That long random string isn't used for anything else, and doesn't contribute to the roll generation.

The client seed appears to be generated in the browser:

                app.clientRoll = Math.floor((Math.random() * 65535)); // random number in range 0 - 65535;

(the 65535 should of course be 65536, but that's barely significant - it just means that you'll never get a client seed of 65535 unless you set it yourself).

Edit: other choice comments from https://satoshidice.com/js/main.js :

Quote
    app.TABLEDATA.filters[16] = {"sortBy": "streakLongestLoss"}; /// THIS ONE IS PROBABLY WRONG!!!
            $('#bet-chance-value input').focus().val(50).blur().change(); // shenanigans..
            // THIS ONE MIGHT WORK
        // TODO: Check that this works properly
                    item.bar_length = Math.round(item.win_rate * 100) + 1; //check maybe we need to remove that 1 at the end...
        // hello

My deposit finally confirmed.

User "testing" bet 0.00001 BTC at 2.00003x (because you can't bet at 2x it seems?) and won 1000 satoshis.

User "dooglus" balance went down 100 satoshis.

That's the only bet the referred user made, so it's not taking back previous referral bonus or anything like that - you really do stand to lose 10% of everything won by the people you refer!

I guess the question now is what happens if your balance is zero when someone wins - does it go negative?

Edit: yeah, it does!

Edit2: here's my revenue report, showing negative payments for referring a player:

Edit3: the bets on the site got slower and slower and now seem to have ground to a halt:

It seems to suffer from rounding errors too.

"testing" won 1000 satoshis, causing "dooglus" to lose 100 satoshis from his positive balance. "dooglus" then gambled his balance and kept going all-in until it was zero. The "testing" won 99094 more satoshis, making a total profit of 100094 satoshis. At that point "dooglus" balance should have been -9909 satoshis, but it's only -9907 - so two satoshis were lost somewhere.

I guess it doesn't matter, but it does suggest that affiliate payments aren't being calculated correctly.

Edit: dooglus' affiliate page agrees with my record of testing's profit:

but dooglus' balance doesn't (I would expect it to be 100 satoshis more than -0.00010009 BTC, or -0.00009909 BTC):
