When I last looked, my balance was -0.0009907. Now it's 1.24000100. It has changed by a weird amount, less than the 1.25 I should have won.

Could you look into it and see why that happened please?

The amounts have been corrected.

The -0.0009907 is no longer reflected in main balance, so that's why it appeared you were given this amount. And you received 1.24 instead of 1.25 because the 0.01 was not added. The numbers have been corrected now so have received the 1.25 bonus.

I have also contacted the support for reporting the erraneous wins of a user, who won around 10 to 30 bitcoins because the rolls were negative. No reply yet.

This issue was already corrected when it happened, thanks for reporting it. Sorry about being slow in the responses to emails. Where working to solve some issues behind the scene.

Sorry for the confusion with some of these bonuses. The plan was to give out 1000 bonuses (shown in the launch post). Perhaps we should've expected this, but so many people signed up so quickly that over 2,500 bonuses were given out.

For those first 1000, your bonuses are safe and there is no problems. For everyone else, if you used the bonus in the first hours of being issued - we decided to let you keep it. For accounts that got a bonus and were inactive for roughly 12 hrs, we removed the bonus. And for now, the bonuses are obviously stopped, though we may do another round in the near future.

Apologies again for the confusion here, and thanks to all the players who signed up!  We're now working hard to get this DDoS issue settled... time for more coffee.

What gives?

Apparently referral gains and losses are no longer meant to show up immediately in your balance.

I reported yesterday that you could bet with a positive expectation by referring yourself from an account with an empty balance, and so they stopped auto-crediting referral payments.

Here's the trick:

If you lose, you get 10% back in your other account, and if you win the empty account goes negative and so you just abandon it and make a new one.

That gives you a (10/2)-1.9 = 3.1% expected positive return on your 50% bets.

I don't know what they plan to do to mitigate that, but it seems to me like the referral program is pretty much broken. I would be scared to post a referral link online because I might accidentally refer hufflepuff (he won 2000 BTC from PD recently - that would have cost me 200 BTC if I had referred him under the SD scheme).

Also, now that people mention it -- I checked and see you took the 0.01 from my account too, despite there being a deposit (0.1 BTC) within ~2 minutes of the account created.

I honestly don't give a shit about 0.01, but this whole thing makes me incredibly uncomfortable. And is in fact the second time my account balance has been subject to arbitrary manipulation. Before I ever come back to satoshidice, I'd like to see accounts have a full history of how you derived what their balance is (aka: giveaway, affiliates, deposits, withdrawals, bets) so i can check it, as I've basically lost all trust in this site.

Well, I'd feel a bit ripped off they aren't credited. I'm now down 2 BTC of the ~4.1 I put in. The *only* reason I gambled here is that I reasoned I'd get a 10% rebate on my loses (as the page still promises)

I can understand why they might now want to shut down the scheme (if I won, it's not like I was going to deposit money into my affiliate account to 0 the balance) or even stop it, but silently suspending it doesn't seem right. I never would have placed those bets

We will allow real-time affiliate earnings to special manually reviewed affilaites. The primary reason for the affiliate program existence, is to give people and entities the opportunity to be part of Satoshi Dice's
success, earning a lifetime revenue share split on the edge. But in your case, using it to get a rebate on the edge - is also fine. You will be payed, and your earnings are tracked. Always will be.

(it wont be for someone exploiting the affiliate program by creating several accounts to get a positive edge)
As dooglus mentioned, if someone would only refer One player, and this player wins 2000 BTC - The affiliate account will be in negative range.
But if you have sent a lot of players, eventually it will reach a positive amount again.

Another way of thinking about it: If you refer 1000 players, by for example, owning bitcointalk.org or any other big website out there. Then you probably won't ditch your affiliate account because some individual wins a lump sum of money. Since you will have so many players under your belt. The affiliate earnings will end up in the positive sooner or later (if you have sent a large number of players)

Sure. Someone might win 2000 coins if our bankroll would allow it. Right now it doesn't support a 2000 BTC bet so its not possible. Hypothetically lets say we had a bankroll supporting a 2000BTC bet on 50/50 chance. Imagine your affiliate earnings if the player looses the bet. On that particular bet, you would get a huge reward risking 0 BTC.
