J0nn9 seems to be a known math person, he is not an anonymous stranger who made the coin and disappeared. If he has time for the coin, and wants to develop more he will, otherwise he won't. Anybody could probably send him an email with bribe offers but he might feel better about working on the coin if other people also did some work.

But he wasnt here since October 2015 :-(

Here are some small bounties for translations that are done by native speakers, not by Google Translate. The bounty is 0.02 btc for translations by native speakers into the following languages, Chinese, German, Russian.

Please post that you are offering to translate, then wait for a post that says okay. Then once we have both agreed publicly the job can be done.

The price is fixed. I'm sorry it's not more generous. Eventually I will try to offer bounties for Italian, Spanish, Tagalog and some other languages. If somebody else wants to offer bounties I might chip in a little. A block explorer is needed.

The text between the #### symbols is the text that needs to be translated. I updated the initial announcement a little and would appreciate any suggestions on changes. The translation can be 'improved" or adapted by the translator in any way he or she thinks is appropriate, then posted in the relevant language thread.

-----

####Gapcoin is an older math coin, started in 2014, that uses a special algorithm to search for Prime Gaps. Gapcoin has already found a substantial number of high merit Prime Gaps and is one of the more serious math coins. It is not heavily promoted or pumped but some supporters are trying to encourage interest. Since China has the most activity right now in similar coins, Primecoin and Riecoin it might also be a good market for Gapcoin. If you want to help develop Gapcoin, or have any ideas please post. The English thread https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=822498.0 is active though the original dev does not stop by frequently. ####

####Website:#### gapcoin.org

####Block explorer / Network info:####

####Blocks:#### http://cryptoguru.tk/Blocks/index.php?Currency=GAP

####Exchanges####:

####Bounties have been issued in the past, both for work on the coin and for breaking certain records. If you are interested in contributing to a bounty or doing some work for one, please post. Gapmine has no premine, so all bounties come from contributors. If you want to offer a bounty for something you do not need to ask somebody, just offer it. ####

####Specifications:####

  • ####PoW: custom, prime gaps####
  • ####Block target time 2.5 minutes####
  • ####Block reward proportional to the current difficulty####
  • ####Block reward halving every 420000 (about 2 years)####
  • ####Cap: about 10 - 30 million GAP####
  • ####Difficulty adjusts every block and increases logarithmic (it will probably take years to get to 50)####

####Fair launch:####

  • ####Gapcoin was not designed to enrich the early adopters or the coin creators! The more people mine Gapcoin, the more coins per block will be produced. (Coin supply will increase logarithmic with the difficulty, this means it will grow in the beginning, but later, it won't change much.)####
  • ####There won't be any premine!####
  • ####To avoid instamine, the reward of the first 1152 blocks (about 48 hours) will increase quadratically to its absolute value: the current difficulty. Block reward will be 1/1152^2 * blockheight^2 * difficulty for the first 1152 blocks. This should guarantee that the difficulty is stable until the blocks yield a worthwhile amount of coins.####
  • ####Source code will be available before launch (excluding the PoW function), so everyone can setup their own environment, compile the software, and check if everything works.####
  • ####Windows and Linux binaries will be distributed in an encrypted container before launch, the password will be revealed at launch.####

####Launch date:#### ####Tue Oct 21 2014 - 18:00 UTC####

I'm finding the bootstrap of Gapcoin for a long time and the developer seems to be unresponsive.
I had some hopes and looked forward to it but this kind of slow development will withdraw itself from the competition.

Also while GPU mining I am getting this error all the time:

Code:
I have this error :
Usage: EXEC[UTE] statement
SP2-0734: unknown command beginning "dbms_data_..." - rest of line ignored.

The problem is caused by this command :
EXEC dbms_data_mining.create_model('MAI','ATTRIBUTE_IMPORTANCE','MT',null,'T');

The OP was translated already to Russian a long time ago. There is a Gapcoin thread in a Russian forum: https://forum.bits.media/index.php?/topic/10055-gap-gapcoin-mathalgo-poleznye-matematicheskie-vychisleniia/

Not much activity there, but anyway.

The last poster on that thread... was... a... person... named... PHANTOM in May 2016.

You must understand all the squiggly lines they use for writing? Any chance you'll take that small bounty?

Yeah, kind of Smiley  Those squiggly lines are much easier to follow up than obscurities used by our Asian friends for writing purposes. Your bounty is a pocket change for me, so if I manage to get through the job, it ain't cost a thing.

Sure thing. How do you think the chain is moving? There is proof-of-work only. Solo mining is fun actually. Some math use also helps. Oh yeah, it's decentralized as well.

Gap  has so many good, things going for it and the markert cap is so low compared to prime and rie coin we should get the block explorer working and get the word out there about gap we should promote the 5 best things about gap what would you say those 5 things r? This Is a very polite thread without f u d I believe nice guys can and do finish first and I believe it's only a matter of time till gap becomes a top coin I think in a year or less many people will look back and say  wow I can't believe gap coin the coin that does useful things instead of wasting electricity was so cheap

... the squiggly lines ...

... Those squiggly lines ...

As I understand it, there are two major language groups linguists have identified, English and Communist.
English has many dialects, like Australian and British, and Communist also has many dialects, like Russian, Chinese and Middle Eastern.
Language experts further break down Communist languages into categories like 'Upside Down Backwards', including Russian, and 'Squiggly', like Chinese and Arabic.

So technically, at least in America, Russian is not a Squiggly language but an Upside Down Backwards language.

fwiw some geographical info on current nodes

46.101.27.9 London
201.239.46.137 Chile
94.72.113.11 Poland
186.23.160.142 Argentina
195.9.85.220 Russia
91.155.235.8 Finland
212.227.143.155 Germany

Umm, the Russian, Chinese and Arabic langs aren't even remotely related. Those Russian written characters look like a weird version of Latin characters to a westerner, but their number is about the same and you can learn how to pronounce Russian words in no time. Sure, it takes much more to understand and speak properly. OTOH, the Asian calligraphy is nonsense to both westerners and Russians. Only a small number of Russians who live in the Far East can do some Chinese. I must admit Russians are generally reluctant to learn foreign languages very much like Brits. Yeah, most Russians are supposed to learn some English at schools, but they don't seem to care really. Brits also don't care much about French the same way.

I'm not clear exactly on how that is solved. Should there be an authoritative 'miner' or node, like j0nn9 that the community would defer to if there were doubts?
