But all eyes are on those old Bitcoin addresses that has a lot and have been tracked by some entities and will be reported if it moved.

1503  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: April 21, 2023, 11:52:31 PM
Warriors definitely plays better at home and this was known before the series, they had such a big difference between home and away games all season long so this series and any series Warriors are on, would be sort of like the regular season. I definitely expect them to win the fourth game too if nothing goes wrong.

I agree with you.  I think the Warriors will be able to beat the Kings in San Francisco.  For whatever reason the Warriors are just terrible on the road.  Probably something they need to look into.  Something about their road routine isn't going right.  This is why playoff seeding is so important.  In order for the Warriors to move on to round 2, they're going to have to win one in Sacramento.  I'm not saying they can't do it, but the odds are against them.  If you're a Warriors fan, you're really hoping they can find a way to steal a game in Sacramento and push this series out to where they'll have the advantage at home.

And this is what Steph says during their losses in road games.

Quote
"Our road splits have been trash all year, in all categories," Steph Curry said. "Just trying to correct that as much as possible is our challenge. First quarter, we were down 20, to fight our way back shows how much it matters to us, to try and get over the hump. Over the road, we just have to have a better start."

https://www.si.com/nba/warriors/news/steph-curry-gives-honest-answer-about-warriors-horrible-road-record

So they know where to improved, it's that they are not there yet. Although in first game of the series, they have a chance to steal one, unfortunately, shooting woes in the last minute or so. Still early though, maybe if they can make it 2-2 the pressure will be on the backs on the Kings and they really have to play good in their home court. And that pressure might be too big to them and let the Warriors, who has the championship DNA just to get one on the road.
1504  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Safest Exchanges in the World on: April 21, 2023, 11:36:12 PM
There have been suggestions about FTX within less than a year when OP asked this. And this is what's the nature of exchanges, we'll never know who's going to be the next exchange to bite the dust and that's why for OP even if we suggest you the best exchanges that we have in mind so that we save fees away from transferring in and out of our balances. It's best to be mindful when we're leaving our funds on them. There's no safe exchange anymore even if the most known and popular, you can't be sure with them if they'll be the next FTX. That's why if you happen wanting to save fees, just deposit the amount that you think will be totally fine whether it's gone or not.

Yeah, if we go back then, it seems that FTX is solid and could be one of those exchanges that you can recommend to someone. But we all know that happen with the mismanagement of SBF resulting to a total collapse. So what lessons we learn for here? There's no such thing as safest exchange, they can be under threat from hackers and criminals and even from government regulations. And worst is the the people behind is the one bring downfall to it, no one is going to see that until it's too late. So we really need to be very vigilant on how much money we left in a exchange as history tells us that it is not good practice to just let it sit here, thousands of dollars worth and then the next day, that exchanges is in troubled.
1505  Economy / Economics / Re: SPENDING MORE THAN YOU EARN on: April 21, 2023, 11:23:43 PM
Yes, this is the first thing that I have learned when I started to get a job, bills are piling up, credit card debts, then budget for food and other amenities. So for those who are just starting up it's going to be very difficult unless someone more experience will guide them, like their parents on how to live without having to spend more than you can earn.

Buy what you need and not what you want.
If you have a chance to buy second hand things, then do it. It's not always that you will have to buy brand new which cost a lot.
I also like the pay cash attitude, in this case you don't need to swipe your credit card.
If you can used public transportation, the better.

Katulad sa thread na to, Report: PH ranks 2nd in ‘ownership of cryptocurrency’.

Kaya talagang ipon ipon pag may time.

1507  Economy / Speculation / Re: Correction from $30K: Reason to worry? on: April 21, 2023, 10:27:17 PM
Price has now reached around $28K previous accumulation zone. Only time will tell if this acts as support or not

Well, there goes $28K support. It held well for a month but isn't holding anymore. With the -10% correction so far this week, I suspect we'll see a further pull-back next week unless $28K can be reclaimed by end of week. I don't mean to sound bearish, only realistic, as not convinced the 200 WMA will hold, nor $25K, as most of the volume is around $23K which is the realistic next level of support for price.

Either way it's a good time to accumulate I think. It's been almost a year that price has been in a wide range between $15K and $30K, so the fact it remains there is still bullish imo.

Yeah, unfortunately, the big $28k support has fallen, it's huge though, I mean we have been trading for this price for more than 10 days if I'm not mistaken, and it's really a big support for us in March which really pushes our bullish sentiments. But now that it has been broken, we might expect some bearish trend this month (I don't want to sound bearish, but still better to be prepared).

Not sure if you also look at the average mining cost of bitcoin, because it seems to be below as well right now. So again, just another data that I have been looking in the last couple of months to see if there is some correlation with the price action.

Lol, but yes, I do agree, he is really a big disappointment being chair of the SEC.

On the other hand, what do you think of him not owning any crypto or at least Bitcoin? is he lying under oath? I'm asking because prior to being nominated at this position, he uses to teach about blockchain.

Quote
He has taught classes about blockchain, digital currencies, and other financial technologies, and won the MIT Sloan Outstanding Teacher Award for the 2018-19 academic year. Gensler first joined the Institute in 2018.

It's hard to believed that a individual who has knowledge about digital currencies will not at least own something during that time, hehehehe.
1509  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Tank Davis vs. Ryan Garcia betting and discussion (May, 2023) on: April 21, 2023, 10:00:49 PM
Davis vs Garcia final press conference here:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hBMhsMMQmXU

Yes, Oscar firing the first show questioning and criticizing Tank Davis and his team, and I quote:

Quote
“And this is the highest level. I look at Ryan and I know he’s ready. I look at Ryan’s team, and they know he’s ready. I look at Tank, and he looks ready. But when I look at Tank’s team’s actions throughout the whole promotion, I am left to wonder, do they really think this guy is ready?

“Catch weights and rehydration clauses, late-afternoon weigh-ins, all of these small, petty requirements points to a team that looks to protect their fighter. And why would they protect their fighter unless they don’t think maybe he’s not ready for this moment? I really believe that Tank’s team is worried he’s going to lose. And when you’re a fighter, nothing feels worse than your team not believing in you.”

That's good statement though, it's real as it gets, hehehe.

For the judges, the NASC revealed that the judges in this fight will be: Nevada’s Tim Cheatham, Nevada’s Dave Moretti and New Jersey’s Steve Weisfeld. So for sure for boxing fans, we have heard those name being at one point judging high profile fights.

Both promising to broke each other jaw and Ryan wanted it quick.

As for the announcement of the potential fight between Bud Crawford and Errol Spence Jr, I highly doubt that they will even talk about that fight come April 22. I know, I know, we wanted to hear some positive news, but sorry to burst the bubble, there will be none, hehehehe.

Edit: Weigh-in https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bBvYmbkTL24

Ryan Garcia - 135.5 lbs
Tank Davis - 135.1 lbs

Cold wallet are being used by most exchanges.

You just have to look at this list and see, for example Binance:

1511  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Bitcointalk account selling (Nikobitcoins) on: April 20, 2023, 11:51:13 PM
Up! Ignore the red tags.
How can any buyer ignore the red tags and deal with the newbie rank, even if there is an Escrow? What is the guarantee that this seller does not recover the account after selling it for a period? He can sign a message through the Bitcoin address linked to his hero account on the forum and with the original email to restore the account easily, and the price of 80 dollars for a hero member only indicates that the seller would like to entice and attract buyers because this price is considered a low price compared to this rank and from after he sells it to someone to recover it and then repeats that with many people, this is my analysis of what might be going on in the mind of this seller.

None, there is no guarantee and probably both the seller and the buyer are scammer too as the buyer can used this old account to trick many members here, huge database of potential victims. So not potentially joining any signature campaigns for that matter, he can still get back that $80 if he can scam a lot of individuals.

And that is the best thing that we can do is to give the seller that red tag. Just odd though that after this years, this "Buying account" still exist in our community.

Supported the flag.
1512  Economy / Speculation / Re: Good time to invest in BTC? on: April 20, 2023, 11:39:49 PM
Hi I have been toying with the idea of investing in BTC but have waited due to some investors saying the price will drop to 12 - 16k again. do you think it could still drop to this or are we more likely to move on up to 40k?

thanks in advance.

It's really hard to wait for the kind of price to happen, the possibility is slim now, specially if the prices keeps going up, the only reason that the price might go down hard is that if we have similar events that took place last year, the Terra Luna and then the FTX collapse. If there's no "black swan" then the price will continue to go up till the end of the year. We might see occasional minor corrections just like what we are seeing right now. Big surge to $30k then go down to the previous price of $28k'ish.

So If I'm in you shoes, I wouldn't wait for a big price drop, time is running out, you just have a year to go before the bitcoin block halving, (catalyst for a bullrun). So you better start accumulating BTC at this price. You can used DCA (Dollar Cost Average) to help you out buying Bitcoin every week, every month and be prepare for the eventual bull run in 2024-2025.

The European Union voted in favor of the Markets in Crypto Assets or MiCA regulation on Thursday, April 20. The vote passed with 517 for and 38 against.

Is this mean that Bitcoin will be banned from EU since it can’t comply with MiCA?

https://blockworks.co/news/eu-parliament-passes-mica-vote
Nowhere in the regulation that you can see Bitcoin though, it's more on the stable coins,So they have tighter rules on them.

Quote
MiCA will bring issuers of certain types of crypto-assets into the regulatory framework. Specifically, MiCA will establish new rules for stablecoins including Asset-Referenced Tokens (ARTs), E-Money Tokens (EMTs) and utility tokens. MiCA distinguishes stablecoins by defining ARTs as being linked to multiple currencies, commodities or crypto currencies and EMTs as being linked to a single currency. Utility tokens are intended to provide access to a good or service that will be supplied by the issuer of that token.

As for Crypto exchanges:

Quote
Under the provisional agreement, CASPs shall require authorisation in order to operate within the EU. Crypto-assets services include the operation of a trading platform, custody and administration of crypto-assets on behalf of third parties, the exchange of crypto-assets for funds/other crypto-assets, the execution of orders for crypto-assets, the placing of crypto-assets, providing transfer services for crypto -assets to third parties, providing advice on crypto- assets and portfolio management on crypto- assets. At a high level, CASPs that provide crypto-asset services to third parties (e.g. consumers) on a professional basis will be subject to new rules including governance and liquidity requirements.

https://www.centralbank.ie/regulation/markets-in-crypto-assets-regulation

Even CZ welcome this news:

https://twitter.com/cz_binance/status/1649018863298703361

So I don't think we have to something to worry about Bitcoin in EU, on the other hand this is just a validation that instead of trying to attack Bitcoin and crypto in general and kill it, might be better if they put a regulatory framework. It's just sort of admitting that they can't stop crypto.

Hopefully the US will have to think about their regulations and maybe they will learn a thing or two from their EU counterparts.

1514  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why does It takes time for market to be bull on: April 20, 2023, 01:58:14 PM
I have been wondering why does it take so much time for bitcoin price to bull and whenever it try's coming up it takes just some few hours or days to drop drastically or changes in percentage.

That's the very definition of volatility, we don't know where the price is going to be, and most of the time it will be -/+ in a given day.

Does this means bitcoin can not maintain bull sign for about 7 months or 1 year straight up without having to change and show bear signs?

Not just bitcoin though, if I'm not mistaken, traditional market like stocks can't go on parabolic rise, sooner or later buyers are going to be exhausted and with that, the market might on a correction.

But wait after the block halving and see how the real bull run is with Bitcoin.
1515  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Bitcoin having effect on the ongoing war on: April 20, 2023, 01:24:27 PM
And yet Russia become the second biggest miner in the world behind US:

Obviously they have cheap electricity cost to do it, and maybe this is one way to get around those sanctions.

If the news are true they're in deep shit to change their stance. A year ago Russia was against mining and was trying to limit the amount of power miners can use. They were afraid of blackouts and also actively working on their own CBDC.

https://www.cnbc.com/2022/01/20/russian-central-bank-proposes-banning-cryptocurrencies-crypto-mining.html

If this has not passed and instead people are mining like crazy it means the oligarchs are looking for alternatives because people in Russia don't earn a lot of money. Not enough to buy a million USD worth of miners because that's what you need to start a serious business nowadays and there had to be a number of these serious operations set up last year for Russia to become a bitcoin mining giant. These are rich people with political connections that are mining there.

I guess that's what the war can bring to Russia or for any country for that matter. It's a complete U-turn, and remember years ago Russia has been contracting themselves as far as bitcoin or crypto adoption is, we will news of some Ministry going into public and says that they are crypto friendly, and then a week after someone will debunked that news and says otherwise.

So we might take again this news with a bag of salt.

But who knows, the source is inside Russia so might be true that they are just hiding on the reasons that they have abundance of electricity, on the other hand they want Bitcoin mining or Bitcoin per se, to go against the sanctions by the West. So still a win-win for them to go and become the second biggest mining country.

1517  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2023 NBA Season on: April 20, 2023, 12:00:52 PM
That Lakers game was terrible. No Ja Morant and they still got spanked. Once again LeBron James led the team with a worst +/- of -17. I hate to even think it, but maybe old age is starting to get to Bron. I don’t see how his team can win games if he has the worst +/- of anyone else in the game. Not even sure how to explain it.

Well, I've seen Memphis in the past making winning streaks without Ja Morant. So I cannot really count them out since they are a very talented young team even if they are playing without Brandon Clarke and Adams this season. Without Ja Morant maybe Bane or Jackson Jr. become All-Stars. Anyways, props to the defense of Memphis, especially Jackson. Lebron at this age is still great but he cannot carry the whole team alone. The Lakers are still a little ahead since they stole a home game from Memphis but I really believe Memphis without Ja Morant can beat them.

What is annoying to me is Miami Heat's defeat to Gianisless Milwaukee.

The Grizzlies can get back that homecourt in game 3 from the Lakers. But yes, they have their own winning streak in the regular season without Ja Morant, maybe the last game was just a surprised for them as Morant went down and they were not able to get back at the game as the Lakers is shooting hot with Hachimura and Austin Reaves.

But just like any great basketball team, they have adjusted in the second game, Jackson proven himself as the DPOY with a tough match up against Anthony Davis and limiting him. And then Tillman trying to grab every rebounds he can and has a great shooting % in free throws. So it's for the Lakers to make the necessary adjustments in game 3 and I'm still seeing Lebron James having a good game scoring maybe above his average in the next game to keep their hopes alive in the series and had that home court advantage because it's very important.
1518  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Intel did it? on: April 20, 2023, 11:36:20 AM
Why Intel discontinued its Bitcoin mining chip series?

Does this affect the price of Bitcoin?
Intel is only a new comer in Bitcoin Mining ASIC producers and they are not competitive enough to early comers with more experience than Intel. Those competitors already have bigger customer base and Intel will have to start from the bottom with high challenging task to attract customers from those competitors.

That task won't be easily to achieve well so Intel just did a brave and smart decision by stopping their development in early phase. It would be done after they did made cost-benefit analysis.

But they can if they wanted to, I used to work with Intel late to early 2000's. They have their own R&D and for sure they could have seen that as a opportunity. Nevertheless, I doubt that they want to garner the market here, there are more interesting fields for them and most likely the management would still focus on that one rather have invested a lot of money and time with Bitcoin Mining hardware. So budget wise, doesn't make sense for them. Besides the competition is already though with Canaan and Bitmain already the face of Bitcoin Mining.

Do you think that Eddie Hearn can make this happen?

Who's going to win between Fury and Usyk? Wilder vs Joshua?

Gonna be interesting if this can really happen in the future, and if that money is on the table, then I don't think that anyone can refuse it unless their ego flare up and wanted more slice on the pie.

Just to be clear though,  Yan Swan is trying to debunked the myth that "Bitcoin has no use case".

He laid down a lot of it in this twitter in which the OP has try to summarized it in his blog. So he is not that anti Bitcoin.

And even “Bitcoin has no use except for speculation by tech bros”, that's already a use case isn't it, you speculate on the price and see if you can make money out or it or not. The problem is that when people losing money, they blame the market itself and think that it is being manipulated by some big entities and that is the reason why they lose, Lol.
