1521  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Intel did it? on: April 20, 2023, 11:36:20 AM
Why Intel discontinued its Bitcoin mining chip series?

Does this affect the price of Bitcoin?
Intel is only a new comer in Bitcoin Mining ASIC producers and they are not competitive enough to early comers with more experience than Intel. Those competitors already have bigger customer base and Intel will have to start from the bottom with high challenging task to attract customers from those competitors.

That task won't be easily to achieve well so Intel just did a brave and smart decision by stopping their development in early phase. It would be done after they did made cost-benefit analysis.

But they can if they wanted to, I used to work with Intel late to early 2000's. They have their own R&D and for sure they could have seen that as a opportunity. Nevertheless, I doubt that they want to garner the market here, there are more interesting fields for them and most likely the management would still focus on that one rather have invested a lot of money and time with Bitcoin Mining hardware. So budget wise, doesn't make sense for them. Besides the competition is already though with Canaan and Bitmain already the face of Bitcoin Mining.

What can say about this potential staging of fight in Saudi Arabia involving the top heavyweights?

https://twitter.com/MichaelBensonn/status/1648011840050307075

Do you think that Eddie Hearn can make this happen?

Who's going to be the main card? the undercard card?

Who's going to win between Fury and Usyk? Wilder vs Joshua?

Gonna be interesting if this can really happen in the future, and if that money is on the table, then I don't think that anyone can refuse it unless their ego flare up and wanted more slice on the pie.
1523  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: "Bitcoin has no use case" on: April 18, 2023, 05:09:36 PM
Just to be clear though,  Yan Swan is trying to debunked the myth that "Bitcoin has no use case".

He laid down a lot of it in this twitter in which the OP has try to summarized it in his blog. So he is not that anti Bitcoin.

And even “Bitcoin has no use except for speculation by tech bros”, that's already a use case isn't it, you speculate on the price and see if you can make money out or it or not. The problem is that when people losing money, they blame the market itself and think that it is being manipulated by some big entities and that is the reason why they lose, Lol.
1524  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2020-2021 betting on: April 17, 2023, 08:03:12 AM
^^ Right, Lakers beat the Memphis. I thought that Davis might not come back in this game because of his shoulder. But he did, and on the other it was Morant who got injured himself when he try to go hard on the rim and Davis met him on top. And after that, it was all Lakers, Austin Reaves and Rui Hachimura came in clutch and then Lebron shooting outside with 3's. It was a good win for the Lakers and it's too bad that I lost my bet on Memphis.

I wasn't able to watch the other games, but I see the Westbrook put that defensive gem against Booker to give the Clippers their first win in their playoff against the Phoenix Suns. The Heat too upset the top seed Bucks in their own series as Giannis wasn't able to play with a back contusion. The good news is that his X-ray comes back clean. So most likely he will be back in game 2.
1525  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Alt coins in the next century on: April 17, 2023, 03:33:55 AM
1. What will happen to alt coins when Bitcoin becomes a legal tender? Will they have a massive growth,or would people sell and jump into  Bitcoin?

Nothing I guess, they will still be "alternative" to bitcoin regardless. You don't need to speculate at this one, so far bitcoin's dominance is around 45%-50%, with that it will continue to be the prime mover.

2. What would happen to alt coins when Bitcoin becomes relatively stable( when it is fully mined and will solve its problem of price volatility)? Will alt coins survive the test of time? Will new alt coins be created later? What would become of the various countries'currencies, especially the Dollar (the global reserve currency) after Bitcoin's general acceptance?

Bitcoin and "stable" does not go in one sentence, it is volatile and going to be as it is based on supply and demand. There will be thousands of altcoins going to be created, as whether it has use case or just pure hype, remains to be seen. Dollar will be challenge, but I doubt that it will simply go down. Maybe you can read this:  Analysts Weigh In on BRICS Currency as Tool to Face US Dollar-Based Sanctions

3. If alt  coins survive in the next century what is the reason it would.

Same as Bitcoin, it should have use case and people are using it for purposes it was design.

4. Should alt coins be traded rather than HODL?

It's an asset or others may see some altcoins as Store of Value, so we don't have one size fits all answer for that. It depends on how individuals are going to look at altcoins, if they think it's will give  them good money in the future, then most likely they will HODL. But for traders, then we have exchanges as a medium to do that.
1526  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin is on 30k how was your feelings ? on: April 16, 2023, 07:16:59 PM
Honestly, I see most people are excited when bitcoin hits $30k and are expecting higher gains. But is it like me here? Am I expecting bitcoin to correct to 25k-26k instead of bitcoin going straight to $35k?

You'll just probably trying to be smart here, I mean we all know that the price won't go parabolic, most of the time it will hit a resistance, just like what we have, $31k is the resistance in front of us. Might take some time to breach and sustain it or worst we could see a downsized to $25k-$26k. So two possible scenarios, but we don't know which want will take effect, market goes to $31k-$33k, or go down to $25k-$26k.

I think bitcoin falling would be a better thing than rising too fast because, with high prices, we can't accumulate more bitcoins when prices are low. Why don't people want to accumulate more bitcoins at a low price, or has everyone already accumulated enough bitcoins for themselves?

That's what we call healthy corrections, and if by chance we do see this, then DCA will be our friend once again. Just continue to accumulate when the market is down simply as that.
1527  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing] Devin Haney vs Vasiliy Lomachenco - May 20 on: April 16, 2023, 07:03:07 PM
Previous belt holder Teofimo Lopez did not hold himself from commenting on this match. According to Teofimo, no one in the division can defeat the Ukrainian master. He praised the many different tactics and skills of Lomachenko' without reservation. However, perhaps Teofimo spoke favorably of Lomachenko in order to improve his status.

Haney as far as it matters for him additionally downsized the Davis and Garcia match. Haney says that Davis and Garcia are just popular, but true boxing fans and writers know how important his fight with Lomachenko is, which will be the battle of No. 1 and No. 2.

Is that so? is surprising to hear this from Teo, maybe that is the reason why he doesn't want to give rematch to him because he knows that it might be different outcome if Loma is 100%.

It's true though, the real fight is him vs Loma for all the belts in this division. But what can we say? the public is clamoring for Davis vs Garcia fight and it's what we want. So Haney better proved himself again and defeat Loma so that he can either get the winner of this fight to make a good paycheck for him. But there is also the looming Shakur in the background.

I think it's both where Teofimo Lopez truly understand that he was just lucky that he defeated Lomachenko before because the latter wasn't in a 100 percent condition at that time. Hence why Teo and his camp opted for a fight against Kambosos rather than going back against a fully conditioned Loma, they already know their chances, I mean we can't blame them if they chose that way because who knows, Kambosos might fail too but unfortunately, that's not what happened.

This time, it's good that Loma got his chances again to fight for the undisputed title, he deserved this as he could've unified the belts already if it wasn't because of the injury he acquired that made him fail on his path. This should be a good fight because the winner will really benefit from the future fights as Shakur and the winner of Garcia-Davis fight is already queued to fight the undisputed champion.

There was no rematch clause to begin with,

Quote
“Because I’m going to be a d***,” said Teofimo to Fighthub on why he won’t give Lomachenko a rematch. “And because everyone was being a d*** to me and my father.
“You [Team Lomachenko] didn’t want to put a rematch clause on our contract. There’ a lot of things. I could get real dirty into this, but I’m not. I’m looking the other way.

I guess we won't see any rematch though, Lopez already move to 140 lbs and will chase a belt against Josh Taylor. On the other hard, Loma is too small to go up in welterweight class, he has been hinting to even go down and face Inoue.

As for the Haney vs Loma fight, the odds hasn't move a bit, Loma is still a 3:1 underdog.

1528  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: "Bitcoin is Speculation & Gambling" - Warren Buffett Critisize on: April 16, 2023, 06:46:00 PM
Everything related to finance is speculative and gambling

Yeah, including stocks that Warren Buffett has it his portfolio, perhaps for him it's the risk involved that's why he compare it to gambling. And if it is gambling to us then majority of us are in the winning side, specially those long terms holders who knows when to sell at the right time.

The thing is that he don't want and doesn't want to understand Bitcoin, and with that his opinion is irrelevant because how can you comment on something that you don't even understand?
1529  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Live it, face and enjoy. The future belongs to us in earnest. on: April 16, 2023, 06:07:46 PM
Of course in life, there will be a lot of of challenges, it will not be a clear road, there will be bumps a long the way in our journey. And if we can relate this to crypto investment or trader, there were times that we are going to lose, there were times that we want to quit and look for other ways to make money specially in a bear market wherein everyone is dishearten to see the price plummeting all time high.

And yet, we have to face it, just like what the saying goes, "face your fears" and took the pleasure of the pain and yet enjoy it. And when go and win and overcome that hardship and not so comfort experience, for sure it will make us a better person and in the end it will spell success on us.
1530  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2020-2021 betting on: April 16, 2023, 11:01:56 AM
With only light betting during the week with the playin the playoffs are finally here.  Have to take a stab at all 4.

1) taking Philly at home -8.5
2) Hawks +9.5. Trey is a different dude in the playoffs between him and Murray they should be able to keep this close.
3) THEEEEE NY Knicks moneyline.  Yep Homer bet but I'm taking it.
4) and too much money coming in on the Warriors.  I'm taking the home team -1 kings.  Think GS takes the series but this will be a tough game.  Going against the grain.

Good luck everyone and enjoy!! Go KNICKS!!!
3 of 4 @wheelz1200! Very nice. I should've tailed you instead on that game. Congratulations to you.
I got 2 of 4 only.

Philadelphia 76ers -10.5 - Win
Boston Celtics -10.5 - Win
Cavs -3.5 - Loss - This is big for those who won the Knicks' Moneyline.
Warriors -3.5 - Loss

I watched only the Warriors game and I even added another bet for them when they are up by 3. I thought they are playing good basketball especially with Wiggins back but the turnovers are hurting them and Fox was on fire with his perimeter shots.

I only bet on the Warriors game and obviously it's the only game that I watch and unfortunately for us, the Warriors lost that game. But definitely the series is still long and all they have to do is steal one game which they almost did. That Wiggins three though, if it just falls in the Warriors could have won this game. For sure they've seen what the Kings can offer so it's Steve Kerr's turn to counter in game 2.

Another interesting match is the Lakers vs Memphis, experience vs youth, LBJ vs Ja Morant. It's going to another series that we are anticipating. We are going to see if Lebron has enough gas tank against the young Grizzlies team. Because for me as the series goes, Lebron and AD's bodies might not have enough time to recover. And I will say that Memphis is very physical, so it's going to be Brooks vs James. But for sure they will throw a lot of body on Lebron in this series.

So with that, I will bet on Memphis -4.5.
1531  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin and Gambling 13 years later.......... on: April 16, 2023, 10:29:55 AM
He was a fortune teller, hehehe. But I do agree that gambling with bitcoin is the best use case. And if I'm not mistaken, (I don't have the numbers), but I will assume that majority of us have gambled our Bitcoin one time or another, more than using it as a payment method.

And I don't think that it's bad, it's not there growth of gambling is really massive in the last 5 years or so.

Just look at the current signature campaigns, still dominated by crypto based gambling platforms (Stake, Sportsbet, Duelbits, Rollbit, Roobet and others).

The trend will continue in the next 10 years or so.
1532  Local / Pilipinas / Re: Bitcoin balik 20k$ na ulet. Bear? on: April 16, 2023, 08:52:27 AM
So ngayon ang masasabi ko at nasa bullish trend tayo, at least for this quarter lang.

Medyo nanghihinayang ako kase last few months, price ng BTC bumaba ng around ~p1.2m and stable siya at that price.

Pero according to his site: (https://forkdrop.io/how-many-bitcoin-forks-are-there)

Quote
There are 105 Bitcoin fork projects in total.

Of those, 74 are considered active projects relevent to holders of Bitcoin (BTC). The remaining 31 are considered historic and are no longer relevant.

Additionally there are 22 altcoin fork projects which have some similarity to Bitcoin fork projects, but have their heritage from a major altcoin.

Do you guys think na papalo yung price ng BTC around ~p2m this year? Plano ko talaga to make my first big purchase with my BTCs kaya need ko lahat ng pwedeng information about this.

Mahirap hulaan, pero kung pagbabasehan natin, around mga $44k-$45k yang price na yan, so may chance kung magtutuloy tuloy ang bullish sentiments ng mga investors sa taon na to. Or walang black swan na makakapag apekto sa merkado katulad ng FTX collapse last year.

So ngayon ang masasabi ko at nasa bullish trend tayo, at least for this quarter lang.

1533  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Did Laszlo Hanyecz see it as 10,000 BTC or as $41? on: April 15, 2023, 11:25:48 PM
By that time it's worth $40, so yeah he might have seen that way. The way we see the value of bitcoin as $30k in today's price.

@Vaskiy - I think in one interview he says that someone will have to start it, so he did what he it, buy Pizza with his BTC and it's all started this craze. And during that time, Bitcoin was seen as a payment method.

Malamang banned na nga sya:

1535  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: April 15, 2023, 10:53:07 PM
And we have a shocker, Chinese Heavyweight Zhilei Zhang beats Joe Joyce and TKO him in 6th rounds. It was one of the best peformance of Zhang to this date, as he just dominate the British boxer and really dominate him every round. Joyce was undefeated coming to this fight and the favorite to win and potentially face Usyk. But Zhang derail everything, Joyce has a solid chin, but his eyes can't take that punishment from Zhang's left causing it to close and swallow and the referee has no choice but to stop the fight. Not sure if anyone seen this upset coming.

It is said that there is a rematch clause for this fight, But for sure Zhang might be next in like for Usyk after Daniel Dubois.
1536  Economy / Economics / Re: G20 Meet - Always consider Crypto as problem to the monetary world. New update on: April 15, 2023, 10:36:31 PM
Isn't it that's what the summit has been doing for the last 5 years or so? carved out stringent regulations against crypto as they see it affecting the monetary world? But nothing has happen to far, crypto is here and going to stay. Also we have to look at which country is in this group and see if they are pro, anti or in the grey area as far as crypto goes.

Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Republic of Korea, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Türkiye, United Kingdom and United States and the European Union.

So in the list we can see which one of them are in either category of the spectrum. Because with that, we will know their stance if they see the crypto is a pose or threat or it is something that they can live with. So it will be hard for India to have this tighter regulations and I don't think that there will be consensus out of this G20 meeting.

I'm not surprised by India's hard line against crypto though, perhaps it steam to the notion that crypto is being used by criminals. Their Central Banks (RBI), has been anti crypto as they compare it to Ponzi scheme.
1537  Economy / Speculation / Re: bitcoin price movement with a millino on: April 15, 2023, 10:21:10 PM
my question is if anyone has one million dollars and he transfered to cex and want to buy btc, so how much price of bitcoin can be moved with 1 million dollars, and also while selling 1 million dollars worth bitcoin, then how much price can be moved.

is it depends on anything? and what possible scenario can occur while moving the price like high volume small candle,
you can also try to explain with 10million if you know.

It won't move a nudge, if you look at the trading volume in coinmarketcap, it's currently around $12 Billion. So it's just like a drop in the ocean. So that's how big the trading volume of Bitcoin as compare to the rest of crypto, it still dominates the market close to 50%. And if I'm going to buy $1 million, I would rather to it, OTC, to summarized:

Quote
Unlike trading on an exchange, OTC trades are conducted directly between two counterparties. It’s the easiest way to trade a large block of coins in one go. Each trade is a bilateral agreement between a buyer and a seller - no one else sees the discussion, which allows you to discuss trading large sizes without fear of affecting the markets. The trade can be as simple or as customized as you like.

https://www.binance.com/en/blog/all/otc-basics-by-binance-trading-337068226927206400

The thing is even if whales will want to move and manipulate the market, it doesn't mean they will always make money, sometimes it could be a bad move for them to invest huge amount and then the market goes into the opposite direction.

And if some entity wants to influence the price, he has to be a big holder, like 51% of all Bitcoin in circulation. Not sure if we have that kind of statistics, but it doesn't make sense for a single whale to do that.
1538  Other / Meta / Re: Too much post deleted result to tempo ban on: April 15, 2023, 10:03:19 PM
This happened to me last year and I just remember again when I view my PM history. Someone report all my previous post. I received bunch of deleted post notification on my inbox for more than a week then I received temporary ban for 7 days afterwards..

All the post deleted is a decent and not spammy because I’m just disccusing with other user post on the thread with only 2 page. I realize that someone just browse my post history and report all my previous post.

Question: At what certain amount of deleted post will cause a permaban? I lost count because I delete all this notification on my message because it's already annoying at that time.

I did check your history and as per BPIP:

@acroman08 has posted regarding the rules about it.

But let me quote @hilariousetc for a better explanation:

There is no set number and bans are taken on a case by case basis but bans are rarely given for a set amount of posts deleted. If you're caught spamming and all your posts are very low quality then you might get a temp ban. If you don't take the warning and continue making low quality content you'll usually get another ban with the duration doubled but if you have to be banned three times then the fourth is usually the last one you'll get. Thankfully most don't get that far these days but there's also less bans given out for sig spam. This is something we still should be enforcing at the root cause which is the sig campaigns themselves. If they're paying for this fluff time and time again then they should receive the punishment but that's rare. The only case I can think of recently was yobit. Thankfully most campaigns don't get that bad but yobit was like an avalanche of spam unleashed instantly so they had to be dealt with.

Is there any Userscript that enables me to add people to a trust list and then view the trust based on that list and not mine, or according to another user's list?
I can do this manually by adding and removing people from my list, but I don't want to edit my list daily.

As for the reason for asking, is because trust list for some board, for example, Collectibles board members gives more accurate results than default trust list or my customized trust because they deal with these members, and therefore their feedbacks in that board should be more useful even if they are not DT1/2 members.

I'm not sure if this is the one that you are looking for: [Userscript] Automatically append ;dt to the end of URLs (View as DT) [v0.2.3].

In any case you need others scripts, you can go browse this thread: List of Bitcointalk.org Userscripts/ Add-ons / SMF patches.
