And be aware that despite best intentions you can make irrational decisions in the heat of the moment!
1623  Economy / Gambling / Re: [WARNING] A personal warning to you all. on: March 19, 2015, 01:42:57 PM
The thing that I find really scary is that I had no previous track record of gambling until very recently.

At a guess, half a dozen fairly successful sessions and then one morning, in twenty minutes, its gone!

I never craved gambling..I found it fun.  Until I got involved in crypto, I had barely placed a bet in my life.  Crypto makes it very easy to lose your money gambling.

The Darkcoin community have been really supportive.  I'm also lucky to have good friends and an amazing wife.
1624  Economy / Gambling / Re: [WARNING] A personal warning to you all. on: March 19, 2015, 01:31:51 PM
As a gambler I know the feeling your going through. I lost a little over 2k at "The Magic" in Mississippi and ended up going to jail there (Harrison Co) which was due to the free drinks you can get at the casino as long as your gambling. I feel your pain man, I really do. I do say this with empathy and no judgemental aspect towards you and I'm sure you have heard it before, Gamble only what you can afford to lose. On that note, I hope you win it all back as well Smiley

Kinds words.  Thank you.

No betting for me any more.  I've got nothing I can afford to lose!

Hi,

I have lost over 300BTC through theft and one 20 minute self destructive gambling spree in the last year or so.

If you have a moment to read my account here, I hope to prevent others making the same mistakes as me.

All the best,

Dan

Jesus, there are five active anti-DRK threads active on the first page of the altcoin discussion forum.  Other coins be getting scared!

i knew you would not leave us !!!!!!!

Smiley dont you dare, stony... dont you dare

There's too much FUD to fight for me to go anywhere for now.

I've been working hard for six months to see this point and even though I'm not going to benefit from it, I can't miss it.

EDIT:  PS  I am now the proud owner of 4DRK so I'm going up in the world Wink

Regarding DRK supporter turning to some other coin and starting to criticize DRK.

When you dump your Darkcoins at 0.005 and later seeing it triple in value can make a man bitter and hold grudges.

Just sayin.

Imagine how it feels for me at the moment Wink
1632  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [DRK/XDN/XMR/SDC] Comparison between the most known anonymous coins (MUST READ) on: March 19, 2015, 08:23:56 AM
Liquidity isn't a question of how many coins are in circulation numerically, it's a question of how much monetary value there is across the entire coin supply. The coin with the most 'liquidity' is therefore the one with the highest marketcap, not the 'most coins'. Emission curves don't have jack to say about liquidity unless the valuation is there to support it.

Yes the most liquid coin is the one with the highest marketcap, but the coins that are in circulation numerically are also important. If you have a coin with 101 tokens worth 100$ each(marketcap of 10.100 $) , but 100 of these are taken out of the ecosystem because of some service that locks them up, you only have a liquidity of 100$.

In case of DRK the 'liquidity' would be ca. 9.300.000$ right now if you don't count the coins which are locked up in masternodes.

Liquidity???

I thought we were takin' tech…

Forget Financials. This thread about Technicals.

If this is about tech then why doesn't somebody go ahead and set Darkcoin to green for untraceable and unlinkable?  There is still no evidence that it is traceable or linkable.

Of you spend half of the time you now spend on other coin forums and put in in development of Monero it could well be a successful project. Good luck and cheerio

Has it occurred to you that I can walk and chew gum at the same time?

Is smooth the monero developer?

One of them.  Pretty classless eh?
1634  Economy / Gambling / Re: DirectBet – LIVE Sportsbook & Racebook. Rated # 1 by Bitcointalk Members ! on: March 18, 2015, 03:04:15 PM
I had a bet I placed right before site went down that was refunded to me. So that is a decent sign.

Lucky you.  They didn't refund any of the bets I made when the site was down at the weekend.

In fact, they sent me an email yesterday saying that it isn't possible to refund bets when the site is down and said that they would never do so because it would stop Directbet being provably fair  Huh

I think your case is a different case which yours is a bet on direct dice and while factor280's was a bet on sportsbook and here is their explanation about it

We don't refund Direct Dice bets that are sent while our system is down because doing so will break the provably fairness by allowing us to selectively accept bets, and this will be extremely unfair to you, the players.

Thanks for that, well spotted.

I agree but I also don't like being lied to.

Thanks people for the very kind donations.  They really mean a lot.

As if to add insult to injury, less than 24 hours after Directbet emailed me and said it was not possible to refund bets that were sent while their site was down...their site is down and their punters are receiving refunds.

Directbet said that refunding bets whilst their site was down would breach their provable fairness and explicitly told me that they'd never do this.  So why are they refunding punters today and not when I started my fateful session at the weekend?

I'm starting to see more and more warning signs that all is not right at Directbet.

I just desperately want to turn back time.  I actually woke up this morning and wasn't sure it was real.  I had to open my wallet to confirm that I am actually living a nightmare.

Dan, god damn it man!! thats terrible and I even remember warning you about gambling Sad
It must have took a lot of courage to admit this in a public forum. Am will be so sorry to see you drop off the team, you contribute much and ask little in return.
Can you keep logging on ocassionally and let us you how you are, will miss you if you disappear, the cool factor of the thread and DCT will drop a notch.
