16781  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Litecoin Mining - is it profitable? on: January 19, 2014, 07:45:34 PM
I would say it is. I have not done the math here as I don't know the cost of your electricity but as long as you have a GPU that does over 200 KH it probably is. However mining other scrypt based alt coins is probably more profitable than litecoin itself.

I doubt it is with a standard everyday computer, which is what OP has.
16782  Other / Off-topic / Re: What other ways do you use to make money online? on: January 19, 2014, 07:44:18 PM
You can also try youtube. There are tons of Internet marketing forums teaching you how to make money online. Of course, like the above poster, there are a lot of people who will tell you exactly how to make tons of money, usually followed by a referral link. Then you realise how they've made their money.

The 'make money online' niche is a big market.

It's only a big market because there's a lot of fools who have ambition but lack talent or any kind of business acumen and they want a quick and easy way to earn money, so they're suckered into these kinds of 'make money online' schemes and forums. Most aren’t the genuine money making offers they claim to be and are like you said just other people trying to get referrals or sell you a scam.

I wonder what the ratio of male/female BTC miners are..

100/0 male to female ratio.

98/2, it seems :-)

Nah. Still 100/0 unless proof  Wink.
16784  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Coinye - Press/PR idea on: January 19, 2014, 06:02:56 PM
Can someone please tell me where I can download Coinye?

Anyone, who can help?

Also, what is this all about?

There's a lot of weird terminology, this thread is a good guide.

Download the Coinye wallet? Check the alt coin section, but I think Coinye is dead anyway, or they've at least changed the name of it.

Never. Im super thin so i have no reason to  Smiley

To become not slim? Being 'super slim' is probably the best reason to lift, bro.
16787  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: what is the best way for a noob to sell something and not get ripped off? on: January 19, 2014, 05:21:56 PM
using a third party for escrow really only works if I am able to trust that the escrow person is in fact somebody who will not help in rip me off, lol.
are there any actual like, companies that offer that sort of thing?  this would be for BTC / high-value physical items items (with me being the one sending the actual item)

Use a trusted escrower from the forums here. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=108716.0

What is this doing in the goods section? haha This is for items for sale.

I don't know how effective it'll be tweeting retailers, but I guess it doesn't hurt to try.
16792  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why Satoshi’s disappearance was the most important thing to happen to Bitcoin on: January 19, 2014, 04:26:16 PM
Pretty interesting article although I do not agree that Satoshi is Japanese or if at all it is one person. To me it's more likely someone British. Anyway, fellow newbs what are your thoughts?

http://thebtcdaily.com/2014/01/why-satoshis-disappearance-was-probably-the-most-important-thing-to-happen-for-bitcoin/

What makes you think he's British?

I've read all his posts/quotes.. it seems to be the general consensus that one of/the Satoshi had a knack for tea & crumpets.

16793  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Coinye makes eBay Takes Its First Steps Toward Virtual Currency on: January 19, 2014, 04:21:31 PM
Its is absolutely allowed!

Never been removed and the only cryptocurrrency that sells like hot cake on ebay, even more than Bitcoin

http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_trksid=p2050601.m570.l1313.TR2.TRC1.A0.Xcoinye&_nkw=coinye&_sacat=0&_from=R40

You're wrong. There's pictures on this forum of the warnings people have received after having their listings removed for trademark / brand violations. Linking to current listings is irrelevant. They'll be removed if/when ebay sees them or they're reported.

can you point a link to a sample of this email

Search for it in one of the Coinye threads.
16794  Economy / Economics / Re: Lets assume a merchant has employees who want to be paid in bitcoin... on: January 19, 2014, 04:15:04 PM
does the merchant gain anything by paying employees in bitcoin rather than cash? Lets say that the merchant also earns bitcoins by selling some service or goods. I suppose the merchant would not have to convert the portion of pay they are paying employees in bitcoin to cash therefore there is no 1% loss on that portion. But are there any costs in general for paying employees with cash? Would a bitcoin only system make payroll easier for instance?

Depends. Maybe companies hire out third parties to pay wages etc. Maybe they have to pay fees on direct debits etc, but I'm not sure on this and will probably vary from country to country and companies.
16795  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Hello from Scotland :) on: January 19, 2014, 04:09:14 PM
Hey Folks,

I'm Jordan from Scotland, UK & CEO of ServerBros Limited!

Finally getting round to registering after being a long time lurker and bitcoin supporter, anyway hopefully see most of you around at some point Smiley

Wouldn't that make you a Managing Director and not a CEO?  Cheesy
16796  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Venture Capitalist Chris Dixon Believes Bitcoin Will Hit $100,000 on: January 19, 2014, 04:07:23 PM
All of us live in constant fear of becoming a cryptopleb once again. You could lose your coins in a hack or do something truly plebby like lose them gambling. I would advise staying away from such pleb activities.

He says with a PrimeDice sig lol

I don't mind ushering plebs in to the gutter. And plebs could also shed their pauperness and become a cryptonoble by gambling, but they must know when to quit or be prepared to be a cryptopeasent once again.

Really? I only see one T-shirt posted here? That's just one idea, not ideas Huh Maybe you deleted some other designs or they're on another thread somewhere?

He has another design that a few peeps bought: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=401835.0

Edit the first post (OP) and press Additional options -> lock thread.

Crikey - you can't be an escrow agent if you get upset like this. Its not like anyone said anything bad about you dude. Escrow agents have to deal with all kinds of s***

People who offer escrow services like this are either A) genuine but really naive and just want to build up rep but get a bruised ego when you question their motives, or B) Scammers, who get upset/annoyed that they're not going to get any easy free money.
