17061  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Why do people think income tax is ok? on: January 11, 2014, 10:41:55 PM
Oh well, I'm talking about getting rid of all taxes Tongue

What system do you propose for paying for schools, roads, hospitals, emergency services etc?

People can pay the service provider/producer. Same way you pay for food, clothing, housing, etc. It's called trade.

And what happens if you can't afford any of these things? You grow up without an education, are homeless and starving and left without any prospects or future, and eventually you'll die when you have a minor injury that's left untreated.

How do you pay the police? They come investigate a crime then bill you for it?

I don't know, I guess entrepreneurs will solve these problems. Are you suggesting that institutionalised violence is the only way? We can't help the poor without theft?

No, I'm not suggesting that's the only way. What are you suggesting exactly? Why do taxes always have to be 'theft'? Why not consider them 'donations'? Don't want to 'donate'? Don't pay the taxes (or 'donations') or move to somewhere else. Nobody is forcing you. If you want to play the game then you have to play by the rules, unless you can change the rules. This just seems like people want services but are too cheap to pay for them or are operating under the assumption that you are forced to pay for them when you're not. And if you are willing to pay for these services then you just essentially want to call taxes by something else or the government by something else. And what do you suggest as an alternative plan? Tell me how you would make this work? Why do people assume that just passing on the responsibility to someone else will solve all the problems as long as these people do not call themselves politicians or the government? And do you expect these 'entrepreneurs' you speak of to work for free or do we pay them? These entrepreneurs will essentially become synonymous with government / politicians anyway, then we'll've gone full circle. What happens if you don't pay these entrepreneurs for services rendered? Will they send the bailiffs round? Will they press charges and send you to prison ('institutionalised violence'?) when you can't pay or even worse make you a debt slave? You haven't offered a viable alternative here at all.

Wiseau does his Q&As in the US as well. A friend of mine has a picture with him on his Facebook page... Apparently Wiseau is just this rich French guy who does whatever he wants and doesn't give much of a crap.

That said, I'd love to check out a screening one of these days! Maybe even if/when I move to London.

Did you see The Disaster Artist book? I've not read it, but I've seen excerpts and they are a mixture of revelation and expectation haha. Wiseau is crackers haha.

I haven't, but maybe I should!

Currently watching the fun-ish but forgettable Paycheck by John Woo, who used to be so good before he came to America... Except for Face/Off. That one's good.

Paycheck was enjoyable for what it was. Never really thought much of Face/Off, but Nicholas Cage is my favourite shit actor.

BTC was already banned .. in China, at the end of 2013, remember ?

If it was banned then why were over half of the coins still going into China? They restricted depositing cash into the exchanged but the Chinese got around this buy buying vouchers then redeeming them.
17064  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Megacoin on: January 11, 2014, 06:54:07 PM

Yeah, some of my friends just don't get it but others LOVE it. I think one of them even bought a Wiseau bobble head. I'll have to confirm, though...

I can see how people just wouldn't understand why people liked it, but I love watching shit films anyway. There was a woman at the screening I saw who was getting a bit pissed off and annoyed at all the noise and commotion and kept asking perplexingly "why is everyone laughing it's not even funny" haha. Seeing it in the cinema is a completely different experience. It's surreal. I fully recommend it.

It seems to me that you're the expert, Mark!

I would much rather pay the going rate to experience a cinema showing of The Room than most of the other trash that gets shown. The cinema even provides spoons as projectiles, collect enough of those and you can break even on your ticket. Winning!

Agreed! I know the Sunshine Cinema in NYC screens it once a month on a Saturday night. I'd love to catch that!

Jeeze, once a month. A cinema near me used to show it once a year, but they apparently stopped it because of the rowdiness after somebody threw a football at the screen and it hasn't been shown since late 2011 haha. I'm hoping they'll show it again sometime because I want to take all my mates to see it.

17067  Other / Off-topic / Re: Sell the BTC now, by the end of January a price will fall down !!! on: January 11, 2014, 06:36:13 PM
From the techcrunch article:

"“The reason for selling is that the Government has lost faith in the value of bitcoin and does not want to deal with the volatility of the currency,” the source said."

If you believe that you believe anything, it sounds like a stupid made up remark. So I doubt the whole article to be honest.

Haha, unless DPR cuts a deal I'm sure he'll keep the funds tied up in a legal battle for as long as he can.

Funny how people don't read things these days Smiley

Tell me about it. Half of the posts in this forum are asking why they can't post elsewhere.

Not only did he make 5 posts, he made 5 topics for each post. It's quite annoying, because it shows people don't bother with reading the stickies. Which I would assume is one of the reasons there is a newbie restriction in the first place. LEARN TO LOVE STICKIES, THEY ARE GOLD

And I told him in every thread. Maybe he's a bot. Laugh if he got banned.

Thanks again, wusolini.

Since I'd like to prove my honesty, I'm looking for someone (only established members) to sell me some small amounts of BTCs or COYEs and, of course, I go first. I have always thought that a good reputation is invaluable.

USE ESCROW.

I would, but it seems people fear paypal chargebacks even using Escrow. In my case you can't have any chargebacks because I'm paying via paypal balance, not cc.

Yes you can, it doesn't matter. Pretty much nobody but scammers use PP round here.

If that's the case, I can consider myself out of the game as I only use Paypal pretty much everywhere on the net. Smiley

Use an alternative then. PP isn't the only option,

If I posted while you were writing, you got notification about it. And that is pretty much same what I said.

Not if you have that option turned off.

This is too good to languish in "Off topic":

Fake. Everybody knows Satoshi's favourite rapper is 2pac.

Gold should be banned because we can't spend it over the internet and it can be faked/counterfeited and I can't by drugs or dildos with it Sad.

yes, but you can mould the gold into a dildo.
you can't do that with bitcoin

Pretty expensive dildo.
17075  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin and 3D printing on: January 11, 2014, 05:31:43 PM

to being no more than the average workers salary in the area that they reside.

would this lower pay give us lower quality politicians?

No, probably better ones, but 'big' politicians vary rarely get most of their money solely from their government wage. They have other business/corporate interests etc. I'm sure there's some nice bribes too.
17077  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: ok my last post on newbie on: January 11, 2014, 04:14:50 PM

No, you don't. I've told this guy 5 times now that you only need one post and a four hour wait, but he seems incapable of reading his redundant threads or processing the simplest of information.
17078  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Kim Jong Un Had His Uncle Eaten Alive By 120 Revenous Dogs on: January 11, 2014, 03:23:29 PM
I also heard that Kim Jong has hoofs and horns and sucks people's blood at night.

The extent the media goes to portray someone as the embodiment of evil in preparation for war is so lame. Yet people gobble it up like it's truth without question.

The media has become a parody of itself.

The media would never do such a thing!  Grin

Do you reckon the War Machine will ever take on NK? Do they have anything profitable?

I'm sure that this has already been recommended but I'd like to give my +1, and that goes to American Psycho.

I've not read the book, but the movie is something of a cult classic.

I would also recommend The Room. If your local cinema ever happens to be screening the lamentable masterpiece by Tommy Wiseau then take a group of friends and never look back. One of my favourite movie experiences to date.

I definitely enjoyed the book for American Psycho more than the film. Same goes for Less Than Zero, another of Bret Easton Ellis' novels turned into film. The latter is an amazing book, in my opinion. The Canyons did suck a lot, though.

The Room... Haha! I've introduced it to so many friends of mine that I've lost count...

Not read any of Ellis' other work or seen their adaptations.

What a story, Mark!
