A very bold prediction from LTU there  Grin.

Lol, fat finger fumble?

~

They're doing well but I don't think well enough to beat City. Got the exact score right on that one but it's probably the only points I'll be getting from today.

Yeah, I agree that as a whole they aren't as good of a team as City.  They are getting better every week, which is nice to see.  They did keep this game tight, and took the first goal, which again is a good sign that they are improving.  I still think they'll finish in the top 5, and hopefully in the top 4.  It's also good to see them in the EFL Cup Simi-Finals.

The Sunday games look hard to pick for me. I've got all draws in but I might have to change some. Maybe Leeds and Liverpool can get wins. I'll wait for the line-ups as that will be a big factor, especially for Leeds.

I've had a tough year with the predictions, then I got distracted the last couple of weeks and forgot to put in my numbers.  The season is a bust for me, but I just put in my predictions for the remainder of the week.  That Chelsea/LFC game is going to be a fun one to watch, but it's a tossup how that will turn out.

Damnit, I knew I shouldn't have clicked on this thread before watching the Arsenal/City match.  Oh well, I really had high hopes for Arsenal for their home game against City.  This could have been the match where Arsenal established themselves as a legitimate Top-Four team for the season, and would have been a great way to start the new year.

Nice of you to chip in. So Jerry PMed you as well. I guess there are very few people who weren't contacted by him with the same questions.
If you PMed him with the same exact instructions, he is now going to ask you about each step and ask if that is the best way to do it and if everyone else does it that way as well. I can't figure out why he needs instructions in a thread that has provided those instructions by myself and other users who have chipped in and explained various ways to do it.

Yeah, I hope he'll be satisfied with the answer...  And I hope he remembers it months from now when Ledger issues another update.  Cheesy

That OpenSSL signature has been bugging me for a while now, it was like an itch I needed to scratch.  I'm still not satisfied that I couldn't use PowerShell to verify it, but I've got more pressing matters today: There's a prime rib that needs to be BBQ'd.

Happy New Year, all.
1724  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: How To Verify the Downloaded Version of Ledger Live on: December 31, 2021, 04:54:55 PM
@jerry0 contacted me via PM to help with this, sorry it took me so long to get to it.  I haven't used my Ledger wallets in over a year.  Therefore, I haven't had LedgerLive installed on my system, but I went ahead and downloaded the latest version and set about to verify it.

I found Ledger's instructions on how to verify the checksums here: https://www.ledger.com/ledger-live/lld-signatures

I downloaded the .pem file, the .sig file, and the .sha512sum file (saved with a .txt extension.)  The first thing I noticed is that the checksums file is signed with an OpenSSL key, not GPG.  Being a Windows user myself, this created a roadblock right away.  I don't have much experience with OpenSSL, let alone OpenSSL in Windows, so I didn't know how to verify the signature.  I installed the OpenSSL module that's available through PowerShell package manager, but it doesn't appear to provide a command to validate signatures.  I found a third-party package manager that claims to have a module called "OpenSSL.Light" which again claims to work similar to OpenSSL commands on Linux.  I didn't install it, because I don't want a third-party anything installed on my system.  So, I gave up and used WSL to validate the signature.

In WSL I browsed to the directory where I had saved all the files, and ran this command:

Code:
openssl dgst -sha256 -verify ledgerlive.pem -signature ledger-live-desktop-2.36.3.sha512sum.sig ledger-live-desktop-2.36.3.sha512sum.txt

Kind of a shitty thing to do to Windows users, in my opinion.  Why not just use GPG like almost all of the other software vendors in the cryptocurrency space?  I've been displeased with Ledger for a variety of reasons, and this ain't helping win me back.  Not to mention the lack of security: The OpenSSL certificate, the signature file, and the checksums file are all hosted on the same server.  What could go wrong?

Once that was done the rest of it went fairly smoothly.  Now that I've confirmed the checksum file was signed with the OpenSSL certificate provided by Ledger I can check the SHA512 hash of the executable file.  I was able to do so in PowerShell like I normally do.

I prefer to use CertUtil to check hash sums:

Code:
certutil -hashfile ledger-live-desktop-2.36.3-win-x64.exe sha512

The instructions on Ledger's web page suggest to use the Get-FileHash command, like this:

Code:
Get-FileHash ledger-live-desktop-2.36.3-win-x64.exe -Algorithm SHA512

But that's not great.  As you can see below, when using that command it truncates the results, only showing a portion of the hash.  As HCP suggested earlier in this thread you can add "| Format-Table -Wrap" to the end of the command, and the complete results will be displayed.  Here's the full command:

Code:
Get-FileHash ledger-live-desktop-2.36.3-win-x64.exe -Algorithm SHA512 | Format-Table -Wrap

@jerry0 was concerned because the result he got were all in capitol letters.  As you can see above, the hash sum is the same regardless of which utility you use, but Get-FileHash displays the results with all capitol letters, while CertUtil provides the results with all lower-case letters.  It doesn't appear that the hash sum is case-sensitive.

The Pats defense alone might score that much lol.

So, you're telling me I have a chance?  Cool
1726  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏈🏈 The American Football Discussion Thread 🏈🏈 on: December 30, 2021, 11:41:17 PM
Yeah Bills are doing well but I'm watching Texans beating Chargers, the most overrated NFL team.
In my opinion the Patriots are the most overrated team in the NFL.

The Cardinals are getting my vote, for many of the same reasons you gave for your vote.  I still think the Cards have a pretty solid defense, but not championship-without-an-offense level good.  The Patriots defense, on the other hand, might actually be that good.

The Vegas odds makers seem to be snorting the Belichick koolaid in powdered form:

 Shocked  Shocked

I mean, who on earth thinks the Patriots are going to score 19 points, let alone out-score anyone by 19 points?  I predict they'll win this game, but they might do it by scoring nothing more than a safety.

I haven't been a very active gambler this year, but this week of hanging out in my pajamas has made me a bit stir-crazy.  Bellow are my "Safe Bets" for this week's multi (total odds 12.97.)

Cincinnati Bengals @ Kansas City Chiefs
Kansas City Chiefs (-3.5)   1.77

Tennessee Titans @ Miami Dolphins
Tennessee Titans (-1.5)   1.61

Washington Football Team @ Philadelphia Eagles
Philadelphia Eagles (ML)   1.56

Pittsburgh Steelers @ Cleveland Browns
Cleveland Browns (ML)   1.56

Green Bay Packers @ Minnesota Vikings
Green Bay Packers (-4.5)   1.70

I'm not accusing you of being bigoted, and I'm sorry if that's the impression you got.  I guess my second comment only made matters worse, but again that was not my intent.  If there's one common complaint against you it's that you see relatively circumstantial pieces of information as proof of some nefarious activities, and come to conclusions based on that circumstantial evidence.  I've known you to perceive a variety of articles as evidence, and creed is not any more prevalent than others.

In this particular situation it appears to me that the primary piece of evidence is that the Merit and Trust circles filter down to a specific nationality.  But that's not enough.  Merit and Trust circles form as a result of regional location, race, ethnicity, nationality, and culture on a regular basis around here.  It's very common around the forum among the Russians, Germans, Italians, Filipinos, and probably more than any other, the Americans.

I also want to add that I do appreciate the effort you've put into finding more about the two loan scammers.  I don't want to come off as ungrateful.  I would love nothing more than to prevent them from scamming again, and see them brought to justice.  However, the attempt to link the three charity admins to those loan scammers is tenuous at best, and unhelpful.  Continuing to discuss it here isn't adding value to this thread.
1728  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏈🏈 The American Football Discussion Thread 🏈🏈 on: December 28, 2021, 04:39:30 PM
I shake my head how it is possible that I could be last. Cry

That would be quite ironic.  Just three weeks ago you were still in the running for the playoffs.  There's a good chance that both the league champion and the league's worst finishing team will have finished the regular season with the same record.

Also, Yahoo Sports’ storyline for the Cowboys going into the post season.

The scariest playoff team in the NFL? It’s the Cowboys and their terrifying defense

Unlike past iterations of Dallas defenses that too often folded under the weight of injuries or the spotlight of expectations, something happened in Lawrence’s absence. The Cowboys were forced to be creative and young in spots. And suddenly it got a whole lot better. To the point that when Lawrence returned in December, Dallas went about dispatching three middle NFC teams (including the Washington Football Team twice) in a fashion that turned expectations upside down.

Source https://sports.yahoo.com/the-scariest-playoff-team-in-the-nfl-its-the-dallas-cowboys-and-their-terrifying-defense-070442013.html

I am not quite certain where they based this article, however, if based on passing defense, the Cowboys are 20th this season. It is only in their last 3 games that they are doing very good. However, this is because their last 3 games were against the Redskins, the Giants and another game vs. the Redskins.

This type of bullshit starts saturating the air-waves every year around this time (it's actually a week late this year.) Wink  It's just writers filling up space in their shitty rag with some random argument based on such-and-such player returning, or such-and-such player out for the remainder of the season...  Most of the time these guys are guessing wrong, and in two weeks' time no will remember.
1729  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 🏈🏈 The American Football Discussion Thread 🏈🏈 on: December 27, 2021, 06:11:33 PM
Who watched the Jaguars and Jets game? A 100-yard kickoff return touchdown, a 300-pound OL touchdown following a Lawrence fumble, and a 50-yard rushing touchdown by Zack Wilson. Lol, i'm not making this up, it has to be the strangest first-half action i've ever seen... NFL Redzone updates, i did not watch the entire thing, i'm not crazy.  Grin

No coverage of that game in my local market, and I forgot to tune into RedZone.  I'll try to make time to watch the YouTube highlights sometime today.  I'm on PTO all week, but I've already spent most of the morning replying to work emails.  I like pretending I'm that valuable of an employee.  Undecided

Yeah my team was brutal over the last 2 weeks.  Worst 2 weeks of the year in points for me.  That's how the ff cookie crumbles!  Good luck to the finalists, moon corners it's all for bragging rights now!  Lol

It ain't over 'till the phat lady sings.  I still have the Saints' D/ST, and they could go -17 if they allow 6 TDs, 500 yards, and fumble a couple of punts.  It could happen.

Anyway, I'm not sure if reaching the final means I'm winning or if I'm just being sacrificed to realm of utter embarrassment.  But I'm not bitter, if by some miracle I win this thing beers are on me.

No, you didn't.  But it does seem like the elephant in the room that no one wants to discuss.  There are a lot of members here from the Philippines, and some might be alts of one another but I think it's unfair to link them all to the loan scammers whenever some ethical or moral questions come up.  It could be that I got the wrong impression, and if that's the case please accept my apology.

Seeing as crwth is keen to answer questions, here's one that's remained unanswered for a while:
~

Kind of disingenuous to bring that up.  If you were paying attention I had asked that potentially identifying information (and therefore, potentially misidentifying information,) be sent to me in personal message, and not posted in public.  And as crwth indicated, he did indeed share what he could.

Not to mention, continued attempts to link this issue with the two loan scammers isn't really helpful and it's off-topic.  The only similarity is the people's ethnicity/nationality.  Other than that, I haven't seen any connection between these three individuals and the two scammers.
1732  Economy / Reputation / Re: Bitcointalk Charity and its funds on: December 26, 2021, 09:11:33 PM
I've decided to remove my support for crwth's flag, and I've deleted my red-tag.

@crwth, thanks for providing the requested information, and I'm glad to hear you're feeling better.

There is nothing particularly wrong with the community asking questions, it's just that it's starting to sound a bit like digging up a trade of someone selling some trinket a year ago and now asking for a tracking number with signature confirmation. Let's be real, we won't get detailed receipts for every satoshi. Perhaps lowering those expectations and asking cabalism13 et al what is feasible to provide would be more productive, instead of facing them with an impossible task.

You've made some good points, and bring up some good questions.  One thing that occurred to me is that the administrators of the charity were all donating their time and putting in the effort to get things done.  This is usually the way charities start, but at some point compensation for their effort should be considered.  This also speaks to the other points you've made about expectations (or lack there of) placed on the administrators, and how they should be validated.

Just to be clear to those who are opposed to the tags and flags; as I've demonstrated above, they are not permanent.  They do however, serve the purpose of demonstrating that there are concerns about how the donations are being spent.

I'm not opposed to removing my tags and support of the flags for cabalism13 and bl4nkcode assuming they satisfactorily provide data or answers.

Speaking of trash... Arizona Roll Eyes

Two missed FGs, bad snaps, 3rd loss in a row. Looking a bit shabby at this point in the season.

Yeah, isn't lovely?  The one thing saving the 49ers' season right now is the "Implosion of the Arizona Cardinals."  Coming soon to a stadium near you.

Just kidding, really.  Their offense is going through some trouble, but the scary thing is that they're still playing pretty decent defense.  They helped me out by holding Jonathan Taylor to a mere 100 yards and no scores.  None the less, the loss was a crowd pleaser at the Wolf Household last night.

How many picks is Baker throwing today?  Cheesy  dude is trash...
I was playing the GB defense so I was happy with all of those picks, the match against Hueristic is very tight so I needed those points, it seems to me the match will be decided at the TB at Car game as Hueristic is playing three TB players, if Brady is inspired I am most likely losing this match, which means I need Cam Newton of all people to have a good game today. Sad

Green Bay is starting to look like the powerhouse in the NFC.  Their next two games are very winnable divisional matches.  The first seed is theirs to lose.

Let me ask it a different way, maybe it's just bad English in the faq. Are you able to withdraw the 1 mBTC chips?

The website implies you cannot. "Instead of withdrawing small chip - we issue a voucher for that amount. You can redeem old voucher to merge two small chips into one bigger and withdraw big one." The smallest chip is 1 mBTC so this implies you cannot withdraw them but would need to combine them into a larger chip for withdraw.

Yes, you can withdraw 0.001BTC, but that's the smallest amount you can withdraw.  If you send 0.0025BTC to your mixing address you will be able to withdraw one chip for 0.002BTC, or two chips for 0.001BTC.  The 0.0005BTC will be donated.  If you send 0.0019BTC, you will only be able to withdraw 0.001BTC.

For additional privacy it's not recommended to send multiple transactions to the same mixing address.  If you do however, you will not be able to combine the dust, it will be donated.  For example sending one transaction for 0.0016, and another for 0.0014 to the same mixing address will allow you to withdraw 0.002BTC.

Surprised no-one grabbed Jeff Wilson Jr.

I blame San Frans O coordinator for that loss!

Why the fuck wasn't kittle involved?Huh?

They just used him for blocking, Morons.

Tennessee was a bad matchup for him.  He was td dependent (which he did get).  Not a big Wilson fan for ff, could get 1 point or 20 lol.  And yeah saints are down to their 4th, I think Alvin Kamara will be there backup lol.  I imagine if it came to be they would run every down and just play power football like the Pats did in buffalo.

That was a sad loss last night, but the final play made it amusing anyway.  I really need to stop taking it so hard that we don't have an elite QB, but I'm not sure that I can change my DNA in that fashion.

Either way I’d love to join y’all next year.

You've already been selected, there's no getting out of it now.

Honestly I don't even know how espn leagues work.  It's a combination of 2 weeks?  If that's the case next year we should change it to not have the last game of the year count for the finals.  A lot of teams who have their seeding solidified in the last week rest their star players so they can heal up and not take a chance to get hurt.  Is it a 2 week average?

And yeah you need like 4 rushing tds from Stafford tonight!

morvillz7z explained it here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5224503.msg58650233#msg58650233

It's a sum of points for two weeks (15-16) for the semifinal match, and the sum of weeks 17-18 for the final... yeah it's a bit of a gamble with the last two weeks but the way this season is going it's likely that we won't have many clinched teams resting their players. I wouldn't be against changing it next year though.

I've never been in a 2 week average league for playoffs, it's kind of cool and eliminates the chance of "one bad week".  But the last game we definately should avoid.  If a team like kc locks up 1st place by the end of the year you can see mahomes maybe playing a half game, t hill our for the game, Kelly, etc so they get some extra rest.  I'm down for whatever only a suggestion it has definately burned people in some past.leagues I was in.

It confused me earlier in the year as well, which is probably why I thought all 8 of us would make it to the playoffs.  That would have meant one elimination round, not two.

I don't know how the ESPN leagues work either.  If we have twelve teams next year, will we automatically have one elimination round in the playoffs?  Does the league allow making changes like that?  Will it allow us to have the final game on week 17?
