Code:
GPU 0: 67.0C  3103 RPM  53% Fan | 900 Mhz GPU  1.163 V	180 Mhz MEM | 375.8/353.0 Mh/s | A:509  R:9  HW:0  U:4.52/m  I: 8
GPU 1: 67.0C  3086 RPM  43% Fan | 900 Mhz GPU  1.163 V 180 Mhz MEM | 375.3/354.2 Mh/s | A:512  R:8  HW:0  U:4.54/m  I: 8

For now, I have 2 of them sitting on my desk trying to get them stable before I add the other cards and move them to my 'headless farm' location in the house.

My 'test' setup includes a 600W Corsair 80+ PSU to test thse 2 cards with, that also powers a Semp 130/770-G45 motherboard, that I have also used to break-in/test other cards before moving them to permanent I7 setups (which all of my rigs are, I7's that is).

They just seem to dip down to their 150Mhz 2D clocks and rarely recover in a lapse of work situation, whereas my 18 other cards here at home seem to work just fine with similar settings.
1742  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / 5850 Reference WOES.... on: February 21, 2012, 04:15:58 PM
I recently added some 5850's to my mining setup and can't really say I am happy.

First off, I have been mining for nearly a year and know what I am doing, so I tried all 'the basics' with no decent results.

To continue....
These cards have to be the MOST UNSTABLE cards I have ever used.
THEY GET SICK in CGMiner more than they should (multiple times a day, never the same card)....even at stock speeds.

I have read about regular gamers having the 'screen flicker' issue when the cards access their 150Mhz 2D clocks and from what I can tell, if the cards have a lapse in work, they do the same and can't recover from the 150Mhz 2D clocks, then back up to regular 3D speeds (725Mhz+).

They came from the factory with locked BIOS, so I tried (so far):
1 - Asus 5850 Reference UNLOCKED Bios (much better, less 'SICK').
2 - Asus 5870 Reference Bios (even better, sick even less).

I am currently running them with the Asus 5870 Reference BIOS and they are performing the best they have, but still problems once in a while.

They are currently running 900Mhz GPU/180Mhz MEM @ stock voltage (1.163V) using CAT 12.1/SDK2.1 getting 375MH/s each on the 5870 BIOS and as I said, this is the most stable they have been (short of running stock GPU @ 850Mhz, but it doesn't seem to make a difference with the small overclock)....

Is there any way I can nuke the 2D clocks and force them to run 3D all of the time ? these are all dedicated miners on Win7 X64/CGMiner 2.2.7

thanks in advance,
bitlane.

<EDIT>
I forgot to add..... upgrading to CGMIner 2.2.7 seems to have helped the problem a bit (better than CGMiner 2.2.6), as it addresses 'downtime' and keeps cards reporting as 'busy'....but still problems exist.

Using a pool such as BTCGuild (after a full day) is unlikely to trigger said conditions (as often) and the cards seem to run stable for an entire 24hr period.

Using GPUMAX and it's 'work switching' seems to trigger this condition multiple times per day, along with network issues.

FWIW, Eligius continues to offer no* fee SMPPS which has maintained the same payout as straight PPS longer than any other pool.
Ya, but the problem with THAT would be supporting something that YOU represent...and let's face it, you are far from a perfect (let alone decent) Bitcoin Ambassador.

Now, if Gavin ran a Pool, I would be over there mining in a heartbeat......

It is however comforting to see how your pool has fallen and continues to fall from grace with it's ever dwindling overall hash rates.

Good luck in HELL.

New release: Version 2.2.7 - February 20, 2012

- Report threads as busy waiting on getwork on startup to avoid them being flagged sick on startup during slow networking.

You guys are my HEROS !
I have been battling this problem for a while now and I am SO happy to see it addressed in this latest release.
As always, you guys rock.

BTW: Where is the donation pool now ?

This has nothing to do with Willpower, Karma or anything else along those lines.

.....people were making requests for payment when their balance was in the 1000s......
That is fucking SAD.
Considering that you did alot of 'management' manually, yourself.... (payments etc) hopefully you can find out which of your users PURPOSELY tried to screw you, or take advantage of an already bad situation.....and in finding who made these withdrawal requests, THEY SHOULD GET NOTHING, since they tried to fuck you over and couldn't.

There are far more Users who are scammers than services in this community and that is obvious at times like this.
I am almost starting to think that this community screams 'SCAMMER' every time a new service/product/opportunity comes out due to their own guilty consciences and nothing more.
Many members did send me a PM about this issue (I was sleeping at the time).

Once we get Eveofwar back and get the data everyone will be fully paid for their work.

You are going to pay even the user(s) who tried to STEAL from you ? The ones who attempted to withdraw hundreds of BTC from their accounts when it was obviously a mistake and they knew about it ? only to try take advantage of it ?

You are a much better person than I am then.....because if I was able to find out who was trying to rip me off, I would simply say FUCK 'EM and give them NOTHING Wink

Not that it's a bad thing, but are you sure you wouldn't want to list those video cards on Ebay ?

I never thought I would find myself typing THIS, but those prices are too cheap...lol....especially with free shipping.

Good luck either way.
1750  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: PCI-E 1-to-7 extension card, anyone tried? on: February 19, 2012, 02:50:50 AM
Would someone be willing to purchase one for me, and send it to me?

BigPiggy has sent stuff from China to me in the past. I think he might be able to help you.

Any chance you might be able to share 'the wealth' as it were ?

I would LOVE to get my hands on 1 or 2 of those extenders.
1751  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Power Savings from MEM Underclock, BIOS Flash 6xxx series on: February 19, 2012, 02:48:48 AM
Well, it's not like I have anything to risk really....the 6960's have the BIOS switch and can be hot-flipped once booted up, then re-flashed....so as long as I always maintain 1 good BIOS per card to boot with, I can always recover them if something goes wrong.

As a side note:
Many people argued the fact that the switch on these cards (6960 DCUII 1GB) had to do with DVI output etc, but I for one, have confirmed 2 separate BIOS's on my cards after flashing/rebooting etc and compared them using RBE when trying to unlock shaders.
1752  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: Power Savings from MEM Underclock, BIOS Flash 6xxx series on: February 19, 2012, 02:04:34 AM
I was just going to modify the OEM BIOS using RBE, as I have already flashed and reflashed each card, trying to unlock shaders (with no luck).....so that shouldn't be a problem.
I tried OEM Modified BIOS's (that I modified) as well as misc 3rd party.....anything I could find, yet no luck....and they always flashed back to normal once done.

If what you say is true about Windows having a problem with bootup, what I might do is modify the OEM BIOS and leave the 'BOOT' flag clock settings in place, but modify the '3D' flag clock settings...which should take care of bootup problems......so that once mining begins, the clocks will drop automatically for the MEM and go UP for the GPU clocks.

Sound possible ?
1753  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: GPU chip degradation on: February 19, 2012, 01:55:57 AM
I take it you're running your DCIIs in a caseless rig?
Yes. Open Mining stand built from a $6 wooden Walmart Shoe rack...lol

Here is an older pic of the setup for those 2 cards.....a bit different now (settings) but the stand is the same.

GPI #0 & #1 on the 6960MINER are the Asus DCUII cards.

Are you being overly dramatic about slot locations and useability for the sake of being dramatic ? .....LOL

Any sane person would integrate this into a custom mining stand using 60-100% PCIe soft risers/cables, no ?

Every 3rd or so card on the board, then risers to attach others above to keep everything spaced and cool ? .....or am I to assume this is going into a rackmount case eventually ?

I must admit....this is awesome and I hope you get it working.
1755  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Poolops what do you do with miners shares? on: February 18, 2012, 10:35:29 PM
I think transparency is important. If your pool op is doing something secret with your shares, it's probably because he thinks you wouldn't want to mine there if you knew what he was doing. And he might be right.

You mean like, merged mine an Alt currency to attack it with your pool's hashing power ?
1756  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: GPU chip degradation on: February 18, 2012, 10:28:22 PM
My ASUS 6950 DCII 1GB seems to be affected at last(1).

The card has been hashing since early September. Since late October the core speed was 942 MHz resulting in 389 MHash/s.

It's unfortunate that you had to run the card THAT hard to get performance out of it that satisfied you.

My (2) Asus 1GB DCUII 6950's run locked shaders and with stock voltage @ 900Mhz, get 374 MH/s without breaking a sweat (40% Fan Speed, 67C).
I'm just not sure the extra 15 MH/s would be worth the clocks/voltage/shortened life to achieve....for me anyway..

Good luck with it all.

I would hope that the Lenders do not feel that I CHASED Rexcoin away from the forum and forced him to leave. I simply saw it as inevitable.

If there are any hard feelings as such, I would be more than happy to help compensate Lenders who feel that I put the repayment of their loans in jeopardy.
1759  Other / Meta / Re: BitScalper Risk Level on: February 18, 2012, 08:02:52 PM
It's really too bad that this service didn't survive, as my personal dealings with the people that run it (email, PMs etc) left a very positive impression on me.

Considering... after tons of scammer accusations and suspicion, the Bitscalper guys themselves were the only ones to lose out on funds as far as I know, which is too bad really.

As an aside....
I was actually sent a duplicate 325 BTC withdrawal (I was sent 650 BTC instead of 325) and I was more than happy to return the funds.
To my knowledge, this may have happened on a smaller scale to others, who also to my knowledge DIDN'T return the overpayments.

Perhaps had it not been for (what I perceived) as the site OP's genuine concern for their own personal security, which resulted in minimal contact info....this venture could have done much better and suffered much less backlash from the community.

My 2 bitcents worth.
