So, I just found this, interesting.

You are doing the same exact thing as Nxt (most of the functions are exactly the same), but improved where it was suggested (Ed25519, address handling, built-in gui, alias transfer...) while claiming you don't know much about Nxt, ok, that's fine...
But you also make the distribution (IPO) the exact same way as Nxt, which is for most people the biggest (and only) problem with it, so it will end up the same, everyone will be butthurt about not being "initial stakeholder" and calling a scam. If you are trying to improve something, why not also use a different type of distribution which is a big problem with pure PoS? I just don't understand this.

What's also not clear to me, is why the IPO ended a long time before the release? If you want to go the way of IPO, make it so it at least seems fair. I'd suggest go completely other way - as suggested, rewards for running nodes etc., maybe just partial IPO to fund the development, but this seems like an interesting project that will probably end up hated the same way as Nxt (probably even more since you had the option to avoid it).

The scam accusation in my mind is an early sign of success of a coin. Grin

Can we stop having threads about asking people to stop making shit coins?  Grin

Actually if you looked through my posts you would find me defending the free market. I'm a libertarian...
Actually this is your first post in this thread.  in fact, nobody mentioned you by name, nor do we give a shit you're a libertarian.

for some reason you use your nextgencoin account to responding to soulcity, but he isn't talking to you specifically.

did you get your sock puppet accounts mixed up again?

Actually I meant it for everyone, just quoted the last person randomly. Actually is a figure of speech, I'm not native English but I lived in US for some years.  Anyway why are you so angry about someone wondering why we are buying crap that has no long term potential. A clear pump and dump. I'm sorry you got to be so rude.

I'm guessing you are a miner right?

I also want to know what will the author issuing for ipo investors
Each bitcoin transaction will represent one address.
On launch I will pm all known investors and ask how they want to receive the seed of that address.
Investors can then import that seed into their wallet and use it.

I'm suggesting to consider this service or similar https://privnote.com/

Someone creates a note, sends a link, you can read it just once. After the first time note was open service deletes it.

For example I created a note https://privnote.com/n/cfgyhsorzlnpkbnm/#zefvqzmkmusapetp after someone reads it, it will be deleted and I'll receive notification on my e-mail that the note has been read.

What's wrong with just using the PM service on this forum?

Personally because of the recent hacking generally of Windows etc to be super safe I might while I'm on TOR network change my Bitcointalk password. I suggest others do of they haven't already. I personally don't think any email is secure.

Although I trust BT admins I won't take a risk showing them my Qora address seed.

fair point.
1865  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Just Stop on: May 07, 2014, 09:49:35 PM
98% of the people are in crypto to make money, so when a dev think he can make 100+BTC in a very short time with a pump & dump coin, he will just do it Smiley

Dont't fight it, don't hate it, use it in your advantage, and you will make some money  Grin

Yes but there is a thing called purchasing power. If we don't buy the crap then the quality coins can receive a more steady stream of investments.

My question is not directed at makers of coins, but consumers.

A question for Qora or anyone. I played with the Beta again today. Is there a total balance shown if you have coins in the wallet?

I didn't use any coins, so maybe it didn't show. Or will we just know the balance on individual accounts?

1870  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Does the FED already control Bitcoin? on: May 07, 2014, 08:01:36 PM
As someone who believes that the FED controls most of the large financial elements either directly or by proxy I think it would be dead easy of them to of bought a ton of Bitcoin, a few billion is nothing to them and now have a controlling stake.

I feel like the media stories that would come out to knock Bitcoin and then the inevitable drops in price reminded me so much of the way banks control the Gold Price etc. Using certain media outlets as a foil for price manipulation.

Maybe if we thought like the enemy, one banks and the Fed we would simply buy up a large majority and then dump as we saw fit. It's almost a no brainer. Therefore they neutralise the threat of Bitcoin by systemically crashing the price so they can point to it and say see, it's volatile and unstable. It would be completely in the FEDs interest to do this as to safeguard the Dollar.

Opinions?
1871  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Qora | IPO | Escrow | 100% POS | New Source | Beta Available on: May 07, 2014, 08:04:22 AM
I haven't seen a NXT client I liked. Maybe because NXT has so many features it seems cluttered. For 90% of people 90% of the time they just want to look at a simple payment page and other stuff should be hidden behind tabs and menus etc imo.

Qora could have the same issue at some point as features are added.

I think about apple software like Final Cut X is a good example of lots of features buried in menus and a clean simple GUI on the front.  So NXT and even Wesleyh GUI is not a great example of how to do things. Most people don't like complicated in money imo.

Simplicity in sending payments is what has attracted to people actually using Bitcoin I think in these days of hassle with banking online and generally.

Totally agree. Also dgex for Qora&eXo might be good for the starting steps

Yeah I like the idea of having one dedicated exchange, so many exchanges these days the value is all spread around and I think pumps are more likely. You got to have the volume if people who want to sell want to sell without crashing an exchange. 6 months ago it would be ok but these days I cant even keep up with the number of new exchanges. None of them particularly safe. Plus Qora would just be another shit coin bought and sold alongside piggy coin and tittie coin....its not ideal...Qora needs to have distinction from other coins at least be with the other 2nd gens on DGEX.

I wonder if Qora could get on DGEX or any exchange easily due to compatibility?
1872  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] Qora | IPO | Escrow | 100% POS | New Source | Beta Available on: May 07, 2014, 06:46:21 AM
At this point I prefer developing the core and features instead of developing the GUI.

I couldn't agree more. Actually I like OS client design. It's super clean and simple with 100% usability. Any custom design should be at least as good as OS design, otherwise it'll be just meaningless gradients and nice buttons.

I was surprised why I used my first Bitcoin wallet and found it looked like software I was using a few years ago on XP. But I think some people kind of like that. Sometimes a really polished 'cool' website and design can actually put people off. Number 1 priority people want functionality and simplicity. Examples include Reddit, Drudge Report and DGEX exchange. Good design has to have synergy with the client in the end.

Looks good. I wonder how easy it would be to implement though?

Would be great if the client could have this design from the start.

I hope we can have a wallet that opens very simply like Bitcoin wallets do, and not the NXT way of having a web-browser wallet.

1877  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What's second to bitcoin? on: May 05, 2014, 06:56:24 PM
Its true you can use different ways to judge what is 2nd to Bitcoin ie Market cap, etc.

And this seems like a place for people to push their shitcoins and the OP saying auroa coin is laughable along with others saying goldcoin etc.

I think the general big picture is that the 2nd to Bitcoin is the 2nd Generation coins like NXT, Ethereum, Exocoin, Qora etc who are pushing way past Bitcoin in terms of function.

There are some nice simple coins like Darkcoin but they hang onto only one innovation that others will implement in time. Mastercoin etc included. And also in the end usage is what defines a currency not function so Dogecoin has some merit, but come on now lets be serious..

So in conclusion for now I think a level headed person would have to agree NXT is 2nd to Bitcoin. It literally is the NEXT big thing. I'm sure some will disagree but then I can't be held responsible for all the stupid people on here.  Cool

What's the usefulness for the average user for the naming service? Anyone know?

If I register a name "joe" and linked it to my qora address I can ask you to send coins to "joe" instead of sending you 20+ characters address.

Or names could be linked to URLs. Browsers doesn't support such things at the moment but for example there already exist Nxt addons (oh how does it called) for Chrome and Firefox and if you install it you can type URL that looks like nxt:apple, nxt:porn which linked to websites. Probably someday all browsers will include such things.

There're much more things names could be linked to.

Possible Features
1)   Anonymous transactions/Zerocoin: One of the biggest problems of Bitcoin is of course that every transaction is traceable. Currently Zerocoin is the most promising project which is trying to solve that problem in a decentralized way.
2)   Cross Blockchain trading.
3)   Finite Blockchain/Blockchain shrinking.

I think above three is more important.

Does anyone else do cross blockchain trading? NXT? cause it seems to me to be a massive function that connects all the dots of crypto. Seems like this would put Qora ahead of almost all other coins in terms of function.

What was the ipo price per qoracoin?

Well it was 100% IPO people donated 128 BTC and the total number of coins will be 10 Billion.

So if you had a Qora name URL what can that do? Are you saying if your website is Qora:joe   someone can send money to the website address?
